I'm not a fan of practical jokes, belittling people, making fun of people, humiliating someone, or making them feel bad about themselves. That, however seems to be the basic premise this horrible show. I can't imagine how someone pitched this "show" to the executives at TBS and they thought "what a wonderful idea. Let's do a show where innocent, unsuspecting people are belittled, humiliated and laughed at without their knowledge. That's what the world needs more of right now". I feel sorry for the people on the receiving end of these "jokes". I'm beyond embarrassed for everyone involved. Please take this train wreck off the air.

People will always have their troll-like comments. That is unavoidable; however I suggest folks just enjoy the show for what it is. It's a very fun-loving entertaining show with goofy story lines, character development, suspense & surprises. Lots of fun. I love it and am having a great time watching. Love the chess match between Kneebone and Ben. It's creative and insightful to see the crew having to make adjustments along the way. Some of the things that happen can't even be made up or anticipated, like at all. Everyone involved do a great job zigging when Ben is zagging and it is so interesting to watch.
The most fake reality tv ever. How long survivors games been on or even Big Brother? Anyone in their right mind that go into a game like that would say those contestants are actors or morons, also this place look like an initiating of joining a cult or joining the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Cheap setup and smashing vases in front of a group without using eyeglasses while pieces flying all over the place. The main player is totally stupid or he is an actor himself.
The Joe Schmo Show is a reality TV program that attempts to poke fun at the traditional reality TV genre, but unfortunately, it falls flat more often than it hits its mark. The show's gimmick revolves around hiring amateur actors, dubbed "Joe Schmos," to participate in a fake reality show, completely unaware that they're part of a scripted production.
While the idea of subverting expectations is clever, the execution is often clumsy and amateurish. The show's producers rely heavily on cheap sets, laughable special effects, and cringe-worthy acting from the "Joe Schmos." The environment is indeed fake, but it's not cleverly done; instead, it looks and feels like a low-budget production that's trying too hard to be clever.
The show's humor is also hit-or-miss, with some moments genuinely funny and others feeling forced or awkward. The writing is often cheesy and predictable, and the show's attempts at satire come across as heavy-handed.
Overall, The Joe Schmo Show is a disappointing watch, even for fans of reality TV or improv comedy. While it's amusing to watch the "Joe Schmos" try to navigate the absurd situation they're in, the show's lack of polish and refinement makes it feel like a low-budget knockoff rather than a clever parody.

Though generally a fan of reality TV, I was pleasantly surprised by this series. The conceit is that an unwitting contestant does not realize that everyone on the show, other than himself, is an actor. And he is not competing in a real contest--it is all a "joke". As it turns out, the joke is on the producers, who apparently didn't know what they were dealing with when they signed up Ben from Baltimore, an electrician who seems like your average or less-than average guy.
Ben truly is the star of this show. Along the way, he has proved to be more clever than anticipated. He has repeatedly blown up the script by challenging the "reality" presented to him. He is also more lovable than anyone probably anticipated, so the cast is fans of the boy from the bay.
It might have been fun to watch them fool Ben full-time, but it is genuinely engaging to watch what is, really, a battle of wits between the manipulators behind the scenes and good ole Ben, who is a real charmer.
