With the release of its second season, Hulu’s The Bear landed at No. 2 on Nielsen’s latest U.S. ranking of streaming originals, while Black Mirror repeated in the lead spot.

For the week of June 19, Netflix’s Black Mirror racked up 1.6 billion minutes viewed across 27 total episodes. The Bear followed with 853 million minutes viewed for 18 total episodes, and in its first week of eligibility (whereas Season 1 needed two weeks to chart at No. 9, and then quickly disappear).

Season two of The Bear served up a strong showing on the streaming charts for its premiere week.

The FX-produced Hulu series drew 853 million minutes of viewing time for the week of June 19-25, according to Nielsen — more than twice its best showing for season one last year. The Bear made Nielsen’s top 10 original series one time in 2022 with 349 million minutes.

The 853 million minutes for The Bear placed it second among original series, behind Netflix’s Black Mirror (1.55 billion minutes), and fifth among all titles. Former USA series Suits (2.32 billion minutes) was the overall leader for the week, which saw its 136-episode library debut on Netflix (it also streams on Peacock). Swat (1.04 billion minutes across Netflix, Hulu and Paramount+) and Netflix’s movie Extraction 2 (1.03 billion minutes) also had more than a billion minutes of watch time.

Netflix’s Black Mirror topped Nielsen’s latest U.S. ranking of streaming originals, while Paramount+’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds made its debut on the weekly chart. (Paramount+ was not being tracked by Nielsen when Snw Season 1 came out.)

With the release of Season 6, Black Mirror for the week of June 12 amassed nearly 1.4 billion minutes viewed across 27 total episodes. That knocked Netflix’s Manifest down to No. 2, with 970 million minutes viewed across 62 episodes. Netflix’s sci-fi anthology Black Mirror debuted at No. 1 on the streaming charts for the week of its sixth season premiere.

The series delivered 1.36 billion minutes of viewing time in the United States for the week of June 12-18, according to Nielsen’s rankings. Black Mirror displaced the previous week’s No. 1, Avatar: The Way of Water, which fell by 45 percent in viewing time but still cleared the billion-minute mark across Disney+ and Max, which share streaming rights.

James Cameron’s movie fell to third overall, with Swat (1.21 billion minutes) continuing its strong showing across three streamers: Netflix, Paramount+ and Hulu. The show has topped 1 billion minutes of viewing for four consecutive weeks. Netflix’s movie Extraction 2, starring Chris Hemsworth, also edged over a billion minutes with 1.02 billion for its opening week.

Among original series, Netflix’s Manifest (969 million minutes) and Never Have I Ever (832 million) slotted in behind Black Mirror.

“The Witcher” has been one of the streamer’s most popular series, so when Season 3 – the final one with Henry Cavill – was released last week, it was no surprise it did quite well with 15.2 million views (about 73 million viewing hours divided by the 4.82 runtime for the season). It was the #1 watched show in over 75 countries, including the United States, Canada, and all of Europe and Africa, making the Top 10 in 91 countries total.

The new season of “The Witcher” generated interest in earlier seasons, with Season 1 reentering the chart with 2.2 million views (17.2 million viewing hours).

As viewers tuned in to Henry Cavill’s last season as Geralt, fans of the fantasy series caught up with the first installment of “The Witcher,” bringing in 2.2 million views this week. Behind “The Witcher” Season 3 on the English TV list was sci-fi anthology series “Black Mirror” Season 6, which logged 5.4 million views this week after leading last week’s list.

Season 3 of “Catching Killers” secured the No. 3 spot on the list with 4.1 million views, while Kim Cattrall-led “Glamorous” came in at No. 4 with 3.5 million views. Next in line was “Our Planet II,” which hit No. 5 on the TV list with 2.9 million views while the fourth and final...

Its predecessor, “Extraction,” wasn’t far behind with 13.8 million viewers, securing the No. 2 spot on its list. In fact, the “Extraction” franchise has seen 108.4 million views since June 12 — four days before the sequel premiered on the streaming service — which makes it the first film franchise to hold the top two sports for two weeks in a row.

The report provides an exclusive first look at the most-watched movies and TV series from the past week across both streaming and linear television sourced from viewership trends collected from Samba TV’s panel of more than 3 million households drawn from over 25 million connected TVs, balanced to the U.S. Census

“Extraction 2” was a hit with diverse audiences out of the gate, crucial to the lifespan of any major tentpole program. Hispanic households overindexed on the film by the highest margin at 23%, followed closely by Black households at 22%. Asian households also overindexed by 5% compared to the average U.

It was little surprise that the Chris Hemsworth action-sequel “Extraction 2” would lead Netflix’s Top 10 chart for the week of June 12, but the original “Extraction” ended up taking second place as viewers that missed it caught up before watching its sequel. However, as surrogacy is illegal in the country of Mexico, Carlos and Julia have to hatch an elaborate scheme that involves attacking Yeni’s father to force her into becoming the couple’s surrogate.

When Yeni finally gives birth, she gives birth to twins. Carlos’ cruel mother, Elena, is horrified to discover that the baby, Luciano, is disabled. Rejecting him, Elena makes Carlos and Julia instead raise the other twin,...

The Gabrielle Union-starring rom-com The Perfect Find and new seasons of deceptive baking sensation Is It Cake? and The Witcher, marking the beginning of the end of Henry Cavill’s starring run, are some of the much-anticipated titles still set to come to Netflix this month.

In The Perfect Find, Union plays a fashion editor who, after a public breakup and career implosion, starts working for her former rival Darcy Hill (Gina Torres) and catches the eye of a younger videographer (Keith Powers), who happens to be the boss’ son. As a romance blossoms, Union’s character begins to question what she really wants from the next phase of her life. The film, directed by Numa Perrier, is based on Tia Williams’ award-winning novel of the same name and also stars Janet Hubert, D.B. Woodside, Aisha Hinds, La La Anthony and others.

As we creep towards summer, Netflix has a hot new list of fresh content, including the final season of “Never Have I Ever,” the sophomore season of ‘Human Resources” and the highly anticipated sixth season of “Black Mirror.”

Kicking off the start of the month on mega streamer are lots of family-friendly goodies like both “Nanny McPhee” and “Nanny McPhee Returns,” “Kicking and Screaming,” “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” and the “Angry Birds Movie.” But the adults won’t be left out of the conversation, as more mature flicks and series like “Jarhead,” “Funny People” and “We’re the Millers” are also hitting the platform this month.

This month is filled with some major Netflix original titles, not the least of which is The Witcher season 3 volume 1 on June 29. Though star Henry Cavill is set to leave the Polish folklore/video game adaptation in season 4, he remains very much entrenched as the titular Witcher in this next go-around. Other big TV hits include Manifest season 4 part 2 (June 2), Big Mouth spinoff Human Resources season 2 (June 9), and animated King Kong series Skull Island (June 22). That’s not even to mention the return of Black Mirror season 6. That still has yet to receive a release date but we have no doubt it will be properly epic once it arrives.

After his boss gets in trouble with Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin, who is charged with keeping the peace in a futuristic fantasy kingdom, Nimona has to become a new kind of hero for a new kind of fairy tale. The film arrives June 30 on Netflix.
