An action crime thriller without much of any of those contents...

Naturally I opted to check out this 2025 movie titled "Desert Dawn" as I was given the chance. It was a movie that I hadn't even heard about, so I didn't know what I was in for, aside from it being an action crime thriller. So I suppose that director Marty Murray had every possibility to entertain me with this movie.

However, for an action crime thriller, "Desert Dawn" was frightfully devoid of most of those things. I am not sure what writers Chad Law, Johnny Walters and Art Camacho set out to accomplish, but the script that they churned out proved slow paced, rather uneventful and at times downright dull to sit through.

There were a couple of familiar faces on the cast list, with the likes of Cam Gigandet, Chad Michael Collins and Mike Ferguson. The acting performances in the movie were actually fair, despite the fact that the script was rubbish.

There is a bit of action in the movie, at least, but it was nowhere sufficient to make up for the lack of a properly entertaining or interesting storyline.

If you enjoy action crime thrillers, then I would suggest you invest your effort, money and time elsewhere, because "Desert Dawn" was a dud.

My rating of director Marty Murray's 2025 movie "Desert Dawn" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

Loser movie

Right when Hollywood needs a movie this is the worst of the worst. Parts missing confusing jumping from one missed scene to the best confusing scene Terrible acting...wow what a mess .

Typically don't write many reviews but at the time when Hollywood is past bad this could have been a start to reconstructing it.

This fell short of a 2 rating but I was feeling bad for the decent plot and the poor acting.

Trying to think of some good things to say but it is difficult to reach 600 words over something that does not deserve 1 good word .

I will say the cars and trucks looked fairly new and the weather looked good .Might have been shot in California maybe Arizona.

A Drab and Uninspired Drama

Marty Murray's "Desert Dawn" (2025) attempts to deliver a poignant drama set against a desolate backdrop, but ultimately falls flat, delivering a lukewarm and utterly unmemorable cinematic experience. The film suffers from a severe lack of narrative focus, meandering aimlessly through its slow-burn plot without ever truly generating genuine emotional investment or compelling character development. The supposed "stark beauty" of the desert feels more like a monotonous backdrop than a character in itself, lacking the raw power and presence necessary to engage the audience. Despite earnest efforts from the cast, the dialogue often feels sparse and functional, as if the writers simply strung together a series of melancholic scenes without any regard for natural conversation or a cohesive story. Instead of a fresh and impactful drama, it offers a superficial and often irritating spectacle of forced introspection.

Is it worth watching? No, unless you have an exceptionally high tolerance for slow pacing, underdeveloped characters, and a predictable narrative. There are far more engaging and genuinely moving dramas available.
