Since its founding in 2010, production company CreativeChaos vmg locked real-world issues in its crosshairs and made award-winning feature documentaries and series that, in the words of cofounder Ilan Arboleda, are “socially provocative” and “move the dial of conversation.”
Along with cofounder and filmmaker Tom Donahue and their late creative partner Steve Edwards, CreativeChaos’ “Casting By” (2012), “Thank You for Your Service” (2015), “This Changes Everything” (2018), “Dean Martin: King of Cool” (2021) and more have framed recent history in dialogue with current events in ways that led to tangible reform.
“We’ve had films that have changed laws, have created new laws; we’ve changed the industry. Our movie ‘Casting By’ is a prime example,” Arboleda told TheWrap for our latest installment of Office With a View. “The new category for casting directors at the Oscars that will begin next year is a direct result of us making that film 10 years earlier.”
He added:...

Mafia Spies understands the spy novel origins of the “mob hits public enemy number one” concept better than all but the greatest entries in that secret history genre. Like the iconic Nichols’ Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, this series understands that personal betrayals nurtured in the Cold War’s shadow are its true intrigue.
Donahue deglamorizes the dapper agents of cliche to reveal flawed men defined by ego more than ethics. His America Most Wanted seeks to resolve global tensions through gangland-style tactics, foolishly courting criminals more interested in profits than patriotism. Giancana and Roselli serve their own interests above all, using national security as leverage for personal thrills.
Yet Mafia Spies avoids the cynicism of thrillers that see corruption as humanity’s default. Donahue locates shreds of idealism even in these unlikely patriots, showing Roselli believed, however misguidedly, in his duty. His players remain hopelessly devoted to obsolete notions of manly honor,...

It’s time for the Summer Olympics, and you know what that means: it’s also time to become an armchair expert in every sport.
The Olympic Games bring people together from around the nation and the globe, united by the common interest of screaming from the couch for world-class athletes to swim faster or slowing down a tumbling routine to count the twists and turns. The Olympic trials are already streaming on Peacock, which will host the Games coverage in the U.S., but other streamers are ready to harness Olympics fever. Netflix’s docuseries about Simone Biles will premiere in July, as will “Sprint,” which takes a closer look at runners. Peacock’s “Those About to Die” takes viewers back to the days of Roman gladiators and a very different kind of athletic competition, as does a docuseries about Alaskan bears fighting the elements and each other to make it to winter.
