I love me a good zombie movie. With that being said, let's keep it real. This film is not a good zombie film. It's a low budget film with, with sub par acting & cheesy special effects. We seen it all before by different cast, screenwriters, and Directors. What makes it different though, is the beautiful filming location of Hawaii. I wanted to enjoy this movie because I am a zombie horror fanatic. But it leaves you not caring much for the characters because the movie is flawed in so many aspects. The lead actor couldn't even save this dribble & I went in with high hopes that his acting skills would.

I'm not sure why this isn't explicitly marketed as the sequel to the equally low-budget film, "Dead Season." Both Tweeter and Rachael are in that first film as is the director, Adam Deyoe.
That said, you certainly could just watch this as a stand alone movie. But I think it's kinda cool to catch up with characters, literally, years down the road.
They both have their good and bad points, but hopefully you're not watching films like this and expecting great quality.
Marissa Merrill gives a pretty good performance in Decade of the Dead. Certainly better than a more stilted job in Dead Season. She's clearly gotten better at her craft. Sadly the same can't be said for the actress who plays Rachael.
As for the plot, paper thin. Logic? Deader than the zombies. Special effects? Fair.
Enjoy.
