President Joe Biden still has no intention of dropping out of the presidential race, despite a growing number of lawmakers calling for him to do so following his disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump last month.
During a high-stakes press conference at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, the president said he wouldn’t drop out of the race even if his team showed him data demonstrating that Vice President Kamala Harris has a better chance of defeating Trump — before cracking open the door to the possibility.

Two separate Western movies, released in 1987 and 1995, share the same title: "The Quick and the Dead." Despite the shared title, these movies feature completely unrelated stories and characters. The phrase "The Quick and the Dead" originates from the Bible, connecting to both movies' inclusion of gunfights, where speed determines survival.
The Western genre had a case of déjà vu in 1987 and 1995: two separate movies were released with the exact same name. There have been many pairs of movies that have identical titles throughout history despite having nothing to do with each other. Most of them share a name because of how short and generic their titles are, such as 2002 and 2006's Invincible movies. The Western genre's version of this is a special case, though, as the shared title is a rather uncommon phrase, and upcoming Western movies are very unlikely to repeat it.

Ella Purnell continues her stellar history of video game adaptations with Fallout. The actress, 27, has successfully ventured into the video game industry with Netflix’s Arcane, an animated series based on League of Legends, after previously finding success with Home for Peculiar Children, Army of the Dead, and Yellowjackets.
The English actor does, however, display a more upbeat side as Lucy in the latest drama series, Fallout. During the first season’s eight-episode series, viewers will witness Lucy’s development from an eternally upbeat vault dweller with an all-American gumption to a more seasoned survivor who can handle the dangers and quirks of the wasteland.
Ella Purnell in a still from Fallout
Purnell recently revealed that she was instantly drawn to the project when the show’s executive producers described her character as someone who could star in a “toothpaste commercial” but could also “kill you”.

Vash, an archaeologist with a shady past, stirred intrigue with Captain Picard and reappeared on Deep Space Nine. Actress Jennifer Hetrick, who played Vash, had a real-life romance with Patrick Stewart. Star Trek: Lower Decks introduced its own version of Vash in archaeologist Petra Aberdeen.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) had a few love interests throughout Star Trek: The Next Generation, but Jennifer Hetrick's Vash was one of the most memorable. Unlike Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner), Picard did not regularly go on away missions, and he certainly did not regularly romance alien women. Picard spent much of his free time aboard the USS Enterprise-d, reading his favorite books and sipping Earl Grey tea. For the most part, Jean-Luc kept his friends at arm's length, and he allowed very few people into his heart.

The 61st annual New York Film Festival concluded on Friday night with the North American premiere of Michael Mann’s “Ferrari.”
Mann walked the red carpet at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and sat down for a post-screening Q&A alongside “Ferrari” stars Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz, Shailene Woodley and Gabriel Leone, who were able to attend the premiere due to the film’s SAG-AFTRA interim agreement.
“The mindset of a racer was something we talked about,” Driver said of his preparation with Mann for the Enzo Ferrari biopic. “There’s this prolonged, myopic focus that needs to be sustained until the race is over and you’re constantly dealing with what’s happening in the moment… With a race, there’s always potential danger.”

Gene Roddenberry's strict rules on human behavior in Star Trek often hindered the creativity of writers, leading to conflicts and creative workarounds. Despite his objections, many of the aspects of Star Trek that Roddenberry disliked ended up becoming beloved parts of the franchise's ongoing story. Roddenberry's conflicts with writers and his attempts to exert creative control over the franchise sometimes led to tension and disagreements, but ultimately, Star Trek continued to thrive and evolve.
As the creator of Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry often had some very strong opinions on the movies and TV episodes that were made during his lifetime. So stringent were Roddenberry's demands on what Star Trek should be that writers often found themselves creatively hampered. While working on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Michael Piller referred to the strict rules on human behavior and life in Tng's 24th century as "Roddenberry's Box." The Borg Cube is a formidable ship that can destroy multiple Starfleet ships and assimilate their crew into the Borg Collective. Other Borg ships, such as the Borg Sphere and Borg Tactical Cube, possess unique abilities and pose a significant threat to Starfleet. Sky Deutschland, the German arm of Comcast-owned European pay-tv group Sky, is shutting down its scripted originals division, Sky unveiled Thursday.
Sky Deutschland head Devesh Raj informed local staff early Thursday morning that the network will be wrapping up its originals department and shutting things down entirely next year. Series currently in production, such as season four of hit submarine drama Das Boot, will finish filming, but there will be no new commissions. Projects in development will be put into turnaround.
Sky Deutschland came late to the originals business, commissioning its first high-end series, Babylon Berlin, in 2015. Given today’s news, it’s unclear if that award-winning drama, whose fourth season airs this fall, will continue. Public broadcaster Ard is the main commissioning network on Babylon Berlin and the series has sold worldwide, including to Netflix in the U.S., but Sky’s exit will leave a major hole...
