    Mixed feelings

I am Spaniard born and raised as a teen in the 80's-90's, the age where a new music band called Locomia was born. They were "different" because of the clothes and performances.

Soon, It was a big hit in Spain and Latin America. Unfortunately, the series only shows the light. The real story is so different than this one. I suggest to read about it after watch it. You'll avoid any spoiler.

First, the movie starts strong but the last 25 minutes felt rushed and not coherent. Looks like producers from Netflix wanted a Netflix ending, you know what I mean. So, consequently it's fiction, and does not be taken as a real story.

Second, music, clothes and Ibiza are pretty well descripted. Nothing to say about that.

Last, it could have been far better as a mini series, expanding the life of the characters till 2024 not only 1996.

Anyway, I recommend this one to people who doesn't know anything about the group and want be entertained 90 minutes. It could be a good starting point to discover "the curse" behind this band.

Disco, Ibiza, Locomía will be become a cult-classic

From Jaime Lorente giving one of the best performances of his career to Alberto Ammann (Pacho from Narcos) confirmation as the hispanic Gary Oldman, acting in Locomía is so enjoyable and that I couldn't avoid getting addicted to it. Looooo-coooooooooo-mía.

Customes and art design are perfect and every little detail that could have been ruined due to excessive camp is instead fitted very well into the overall aesthetic of the movie.

I don't know if there is a language/cultural barrier that could stop people from enjoying this film (judging by another imdb review I just read) but I can affirm that the camp and the LGBTQ aspect of this film feels so coherent and fun that even the most homophobic dude in Ibiza would appreciate how entertaining and engaging it is. Nothing feels forced or out of place.

I really think this movie ends up leaving you with the desire to see more, to the point where it could have been made into a TV series and not just a single film. However it does feel like it brings a complete story and package.

To sum-up: Disco, Ibiza Locomía will be admired as a cult-classic in the future, even if it doesn't get the attention it deserves right now. One of best Spanish films I've ever seen and definitely the most fun, my apologies to Torrente 1 and el día de la bestia. (It's great and not the typical soap opera posing as drama that is so common to receive praise in Spain, thats probably why it won't be well regarded, people want "Hable con ella" emotional ripoff number 83838484883)

Silly, not funny, very bad done Spanish cinema

That´s the reason why only a few people in Spain know to work in pictures. It is a disaster. There are authors like, Rodrigo Cortés, Carlos Vermut, Daniel Calparsoro... that are really above this piece of crap.

Don´t waste Your time. I am from Bilbao and I remember in 1988 listening and watching this entertaiment (not music) in TV. I was young, like 8 years old and I found it stupid.

They were a group of people, more interested in costumes than music. It is a shame that they made a picture about this, there is no argument; they do not deserve a biopic.

The way it is directed, is like a bad TV show from Spain; What about that Freddie Mercury??? Hahahah, really bad done, even if they don´t show you the actor that plays his role. It is a man with a mustache, nothing to do wit the great Mercury. The rating of 6 is because of the few votes they have (surely from the crew and friends of the director).

A nonsense, very bad done; It recalls me one of the greatest Avant Garde group of electronica´s album title at the time: THE ART OF NOISE´s "In No Sense? Nonsense!" a really great album; but Locomia has no sense. That is what they are, a nonsense piece of crap. Never should be done. Producers should be ashamed. They try to be funny, but they are silly.

Please, no more cinema of that bad quality, bad directed, acted and a silly screenplay, whith archive footage, that is not; only recreations in 4:1 tv format and only a piece from reality where we can see Concha Velasco in TVE1.

    2 stars out of 10.

    • Trivia
At the beginning of the movie, Xavi Font gives Freddie Mercury a gift for his birthday, a shoes designed by himself that, at the ending of the movie, they appear as part of the music video Queen: I'm Going Slightly Mad (1991) that Font is watching on TV. It happened actually: Mercury and Font not only met in Ibiza, but Mercury felt attracted to Font by his fashion designs and his extravagant personality.
