Netflix better keep this show going i'm already hooked and i need more episodes IMMEDIATELY!! I really love the art style and ofc my favourite is ed i mean bowens voice is just great for him
this was so cool from start to finish and i really hope we get to see seasons of development. A show about a girl fighting demons and monsters isn't new, but it's about the presentation, and Jentry Chau vs the Underworld has a great presentation. Memorable characters, fantastic action-packed animation, and an amazing coming-of-age arc. Really recommend, should everyone watch this peak ! This is like a true successor to Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Dont cancel this Netflix!!
This show is basically a modern day Buffy the Vampire Slayer, based on Asian Mythology. The animation is vibrant and creative while the music follows the modern Asian girl pop band vibe a la Arcane. But it is the story, characters and drama that carry the show. There are several good plot twists, that blends well together with the clash between modern characters vs ancient mythical powers and creatures.
So why is this show not a 10? The reason is the fast pace. Although I wouldn't go as far as to call Jentry, and her friends Mary Sues, they do skip the training and just get good out of nowhere... Not enough episodes is dedicated towards the characters becoming as capable as the are at the end of the season. That being said, this show sure knows how to make its characters look awesome, as they fight. Struggle, fall, grieve and get back up. The effort and heart, put into this show, is clearly evident.

Please please please, make this show run for at least another couple of seasons😭
It's beautifully written, the animation is great and brings back nostalgia for the best 2000-2010s shows and the soundtrack is AMAZING! Everything ties together perfectly.
The comedy brings relief through tough moments and the drama is deep and not just shallow.
Ed (voiced by Bowen Yang) is such a genuinely funny character who not only brings the laughs and comfort but also drives the story in a special way.
Jentry is a very well constructed main character. Her arc and growth is very interesting to watch.
This show had me SEATED. Literally could not move without finding out what's going to happen next.
It reminded me of some of my other favorite shows like ATLA, w.i.t.c.h., Dead Boy Detectives, Naruto, and even Spider-Man (kind of).
It's a perfect mix of nostalgia for 2010s animated shows and a new, fresh perspective.

I don't say that I like a show because not only does it have a great story but wow the music in this show is really beautiful and gives off a really good beat.
When ever Jentry is going through an emotion with a family or a friend or a monster the music really hopes go through each of the episodes. You don't often get that in a cartoon series. But so far in 2024 Netflix has been doing really well with their animation department.
And to be honest I really hope that there will be a season 2. It's hard to find good fantasy shows with a modern perspective. Plus this show is also very funny. I hope it stays for a little while longer.

While I am not 100% done with this series (I just finished episode 9) I felt very compelled to write a review.
Right off the bat, the visual style of this show is really just awesome, the vibrant colors are so eye-catching and they add a lot of emotion to the settings and characters. The show's title sequence animation is especially fun to watch. The soundtrack is also great, and combined with the great visuals it makes for a really interesting aesthetic.
As for the story, from what I have seen so far, Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld is shaping up to be a very exciting show, full of action, mystery, and lots of drama. It is so captivating to watch Jentry fight off demons from the underworld as she slowly uncovers the truth about her fire powers, and her mysterious past.
The show has some really interesting characters and concepts, a lot of which draw inspiration from Chinese mythology. It also attempts to tackle some slightly more mature themes and topics, and manages to do so pretty well.
Even though the show does draw on some slightly overused tropes (*cough cough* love triangle) it still tries to be fresh and original. Which is always nice to see.
It feels like this series still has a lot of room to grow. I personally am really excited to see how this season ends and am holding out hope for a season two!
