I was really excited the first time i sat down to watch this series seeing as i'm a huge fan of these characters and thier love/hate relationship.
Unfortunately i was disapointed. It's evident that both actors portraying Morran and Tobias have aged, diminishing the physical humor that once defined their characters. Even more disappointing is the lack of innovation or improvement upon the original concept. There was immense potential to delve deeper into these characters and explore richer themes, as demonstrated in the Morran and Tobias movie where they delved into their past and the depth of their love for each other. Instead, each episode feels like a repetitive rehash of the first season, but with inferior humor and occasionally recycled jokes. In my opinion, it's a missed opportunity that fails to capture the essence of what made the original series so special.
They also kind of ruined the bond between Morran and Tobias. In the first season Tobias was portrayed as aloof and sarcastic in the first season, yet he still displayed moments of vulnerability and affection, particularly in his genuine love for Morran. However, in this series, they opted to exaggerate his grumpiness, often portraying him as outright mean, especially towards Morran, until the plot demanded otherwise and opting for a now "too" nice approach. Finding a balance between these extremes, as they did in the first season, might have provided better and funnier portrayal of his character aswell as keeping his character feeling the same. Additionally, Morran's increased intelligence and pretty much newfound depression seem out of place and inconsistent with her established personality in the earlier season/movie.
Still an okay watch if you like Morran och Tobias though!
