Sara will never learn how to act......

This movie we could have been a great success. The cast was huge & great. Sad they couldn't make a better use of every actor. Sara ali doesn't have any expression on her face. A plain blank face. For me it was unnecessarily stretched. Mystery wasn't enough. And the investigation wasn't interesting Enough. I was looking forward to this movie but it turned out very disappointing. Main lead selection was bad.

Pankaj ji was great as always, very natural in his role. He is the only reason I finished watching it. Karishma Kapoor's character wasn't interesting enough. Overall it's an average movie..

"Struggles on Screen: A Disappointing Blend of Comedy and Thrill"

The movie really isn't what we hoped it would be. It's hard to stay interested for more than two hours because it just doesn't grab your attention from the start. The story doesn't flow well, making the whole thing feel broken and not very enjoyable.

The movie tried to be funny and exciting at the same time, but it didn't work out. Even though it had a creative idea, it ended up being neither funny enough nor exciting enough. This mix-up makes the movie less impactful than it could have been.

Even though the movie had famous and talented actors, it didn't help make the movie better. Their performances couldn't save the weak story and direction, leaving viewers feeling let down.

The beginning of the movie doesn't match up with the rest, which can confuse and make it hard for viewers to get into the story. This gap suggests the movie was poorly planned and executed from the start.

All these problems - a confusing story, a failed mix of comedy and thrill, wasted acting talent, and a story that doesn't flow - make watching the movie a tough task. It's disappointing, especially since people expected a lot more from a film with big names and an interesting idea.

In the end, the movie's struggle to keep people interested and tell a good story shows the risks of trying to mix different movie genres without a clear plan. The famous actors don't make up for these issues, and the movie falls short of what it could have been. This makes the film hard to watch and enjoy, highlighting the need for a well-thought-out story and execution in making a successful movie.

Has the depth of a saucer

The screen age of Vijay Varma and his screen mother is the same. Both look like they're in their 40s, in fact Grusha Kapoor looks a year or two younger

The entire film functions on the same level of absurdity in every aspect. Everyone is strangely blasé about the murder and police but they all have their secrets

Apparently Sara and Vijay are the same age, and she was taller than him when younger. I have absolutely no idea how old Sara is supposed to be in this scenario. Are they both 25? Are they both 45?

Either way, the film is kind of fun, even if it is super shallow. No idea why its listed as horror though.

Overall its a pleasant watch, has interesting characters, and the mystery is decently cloaked till the end.

Not good but there are some + Not bad but there are some -

The trailer was...intriguing; a fun murder mystery to watch, the likes of which have been dime-a-dozen; but, very reminiscent of the Sandler-Aniston Murder Mystery films/Knives Out franchise/Poirot-Trilogy. KO1 was OK, all the others varied from so-so to disappointing.

So, I don't know if it's because I went in with low expectations, but...I actually didn't mind the film. Good? Not really. Bad? Also not really.

There were a couple things that the film did, that was different from all of the films above, which made me take a step back and thought "Oh, okay, I didn't expect that." The film also some social commentary that you won't necessarily expect from a comedy-thriller, but take that for whatever it's worth.

I personally thought that the film is bring really criticized, it's not as bad as the internet is making it out to be. Negatives though - too many things happening at the same time, you don't necessarily care for the characters as much; the film was also on the longer side for a murder-comedy of this tone.

If you have nothing else to watch, check it. Not good but there are some positives/Not bad but there are some negatives.

Only Pankaj ji is Mubarak..

I am a great fan of "WHUDUNIT" and this movie has a great premise. Show everyone with some motive ,entangle the stories ,provide a spicy cop character, voila the movie recipe is ready. Murder mubarak however fails in engagement despite of suceeding in recipe and engagement is garnishing it makes movie appealing, so in that sense the movie is not appealing enough.

Sara faulters big time in her role of BAMBI ..so much that when the climax comes you don't care how she is feeling! Vijaya verma is underutilized as wakil shaheb, the saving grace in cameo is dimple. Pankaj tripathi sprinkles a glittery visual in the form of cop, he is good but again tell me the last time when he was not good. This is just an average movie with lot of potential.

A Missed Opportunity

Netflix's "Murder Mubarak" arrives with a premise ripe for intrigue and suspense but unfortunately falls flat, failing to capitalise on its potential. What could have been a gripping murder mystery turns into a predictable slog, marred by straightforward storytelling that allows the audience to pinpoint the murderer far too early in the narrative.

The film assembles a commendable cast, suggesting that stellar performances could be expected. However, the reality is a stark contrast. Despite the presence of notable talent, the performances are underwhelming, lacking the depth and complexity required to elevate the material. It's disheartening to see good actors not being utilized to their full potential, leaving one to wonder about the direction and script they were given.

Furthermore, the editing does the film no favors. Instead of creating a tightly woven narrative that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, the movie meanders, stretching thin material over an unnecessarily extended runtime. This pacing issue exacerbates the film's predictability, making the viewing experience more tedious than thrilling.

While "Murder Mubarak" had the ingredients for a memorable addition to the murder mystery genre, it ultimately succumbs to its shortcomings. Predictable plotting, lackluster acting, and poor editing are significant detriments.

Tight but direction less plot

I had lots of expectations but after one hr I lost the interest Suspicion jump from one to another without showing a solid reason Pankaj Tripathi disappointed directed tried to portrayed him as famous character of Agatha Christie Mr poirot but he didn't had that charisma or style as I have seen BBC made long series on his character I couldn't able to stop myself comparing. He did tried to act like Karam chand another famous character and failed miserably Sana Ali khan acted well but her character were poorly written In the end her face lacked the expression character demanded Karishma and Dimple were good in their role and acting Ny way it was not v bad May be my expectation was too high I love this genre so hope director will make another movie on this genre with better plot.

Terrible as it could possibly get

This is neither a proper Thriller nor a comedy film. Just like there are some perfumes which are so loud and headache inducing, this is the same garbage. It totally missed all the brackets it wants to be in. The film is more of a pretentious wanna be "who is the killer" puzzle film.

This has unnecessary sexual scenes, one which involves a minor girl looking at it. The director has to be nuts to literally make this scrap. The comedy was extremely lame, off putting, and forcibly slid in between serious situations. The direction was poor, screenplay was gimmicky which was too annoying. They had to pause the screen on almost every character for introductions, which was hell of annoying and gimmicky again. Music and background score was like a below average Hollywood comedy movie. The film never gave any sense throughout. Garbage is the only word comes to my mind.!

No spoilers are given, everything i wrote is based on the technical aspects.

A Big reveal that might not be as shocking...!!!

Unfortunately, the movie is not giving that much scope to Pankaj Tripathi to showcase his unbeatable acting talent...Because of the heaviest multi-star movie, ruined and ate all frames and scenes of him & The movie is too much slower or longer. In every scene, they create confusion rather than giving clarity on the plot. And the other star cast is unnecessarily stuffed everywhere. Not a single actor has a better story to tell on screen. Every actor's talent is wasted...

Sara Ali Khan has to mend her ways or better chose a different profession as it's futile to say ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT A GOLD... One thing is for sure that Rich people eat rich people...

Genuinely, so disappointed after watching this so-called murder mystery. Which is more confusing than mysterious...

Thriller with a dash of comedy

Really interesting, it's kinda in between "murder she wrote" and "knives out" but within a high society Indian backdrop. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Homi Adajania always makes interesting films. Great caste as well. Karishma Kapoor is back after a long time. Dimple Kapadia, Sarah Ali and Sanjay Kapoor. Pankaj Tripathi is excellent as always in his role as the ACP. The film revolves around a murder of young couple's husband. Murder Mubarak is one of those films that you want to finish it once you have started watching. Overall this film kept me watching it for over 2 hrs! Which is an achievement in itself!

Murder Mubarak: A Missed Opportunity in Indian Murder Mystery

Directed by Anuja Chauhan, "Murder Mubarak" is Netflix's attempt at an Indianized murder mystery, drawing inspiration from the works of Agatha Christie but falling short of delivering a captivating narrative. Despite boasting a stellar cast including Pankaj Tripathi, Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Varma, and Dimple Kapadia, the film fails to live up to its potential and feels like a cheap imitation of its Western counterparts.

The story follows a classic murder mystery setup, reminiscent of Agatha Christie's iconic works such as "Murder on the Orient Express" and "Death on the Nile." However, unlike its predecessors, "Murder Mubarak" lacks the depth and complexity needed to engage audiences. The plot feels contrived and poorly executed, relying on clichés and predictable twists rather than offering genuine intrigue.

While Pankaj Tripathi and Vijay Varma deliver commendable performances, injecting some much-needed life into the film, other cast members like Sara Ali Khan and Dimple Kapadia fail to leave a lasting impression. Even the return of Karishma Kapoor to Bollywood fails to make a significant impact, despite her efforts to portray the role of the "Diva."

One of the film's major shortcomings lies in its screenplay and character development. The story feels disjointed, with poorly defined characters and subplots that fail to contribute meaningfully to the overall narrative. A crisper edit and better utilization of the ensemble cast could have potentially salvaged the film, but unfortunately, "Murder Mubarak" falls short of delivering a compelling murder mystery.

In conclusion, "Murder Mubarak" is a missed opportunity in the realm of Indian murder mysteries. Despite its talented cast and promising premise, the film fails to deliver a gripping and engaging story, ultimately leaving audiences disappointed.

Murder Mubarak: A Promising Puzzle Undone by Predictability

"Murder Mubarak," a 2024 release on Netflix, steps into the crowded arena of mystery comedies with a narrative promising intrigue and laughter. Directed by Homi Adajania and based on Anuja Chauhan's novel "Club You To Death," the film gathers an ensemble cast led by the likes of Pankaj Tripathi and Sara Ali Khan, setting the stage for a thrilling investigation into a high-society murder.

The premise is ripe with potential: a non-traditional police officer delves into a murder mystery, navigating through a web of suspects, each with their own secrets. This setup promises an exploration of complexities beyond the surface, aiming to blend suspense with humor. The world Adajania constructs is one of intrigue, where the glossy exteriors of high society hide darker truths.

However, "Murder Mubarak" struggles to deliver on its initial promise. The film is marred by predictable plotlines that tread too safely within the confines of its genre, failing to surprise or challenge the audience. Such predictability in a mystery comedy acts as a double-edged sword, dulling the impact of what could have been a sharp narrative.

Moreover, the performances, while led by a star-studded cast, fall short of expectations. Despite the talents of Pankaj Tripathi, Sara Ali Khan, and others, their characters never fully come to life, hindered perhaps by a script that doesn't allow them to break free of genre stereotypes. This lack of character depth contributes to a disconnect between the audience and the on-screen world.

The editing, handled by Akshara Prabhakar, further impedes the film's flow, leading to a disjointed viewing experience. In a genre where timing is key, especially in balancing the elements of mystery and comedy, the editing fails to weave these components together seamlessly. This disjointedness was significant enough to stretch the viewing experience across two days, with the ensemble cast being the only draw to return for the film's conclusion.

Despite its rich setting and the promise of weaving a compelling tale of mystery and humor, "Murder Mubarak" serves as a reminder that a successful film in this genre requires more than an interesting premise and a talented cast. It demands a tight script, dynamic performances, and meticulous editing to keep viewers engaged and guessing. Unfortunately, this film serves as a case study in missed opportunities, leaving audiences to wonder what could have been if its potential had been fully realized.

Whodunnit

Murder Mubarak is a watchable whodunit with a captivating central performance by Pankaj Tripathi. The investigative process is full of quirky twists and keeps you guessing until the end. However, it suffers from a pacing issue.

Strong Points:

Intriguing mystery: The film cleverly subverts expectations and throws in surprises along the way.

Pankaj Tripathi is phenomenal: His portrayal of the unconventional police officer injects humor and a refreshing perspective.

Fast-paced dialogue: The script keeps things lively with witty exchanges and sharp observations.

Room for Improvement:

Slow burn: The movie could have benefitted from tighter editing. While the extra minutes allow for character development, some scenes feel drawn out and hinder the overall momentum.

If you're looking for a suspenseful whodunit with a charismatic lead, Murder Mubarak is worth a watch. But be prepared for a slightly sluggish pace at times.

A Lackluster Whodunit

In "Murder Mubarak," the promising premise is overshadowed by lackluster performances and uninspired execution. Pankaj Tripathi's portrayal of a calm detective feels tired and repetitive, while Sara Ali Khan and Karisma Kapoor fail to inject any memorable spark into their roles. Regrettably, this latest addition to Netflix India's catalogue joins the ranks of underwhelming offerings, underscoring the platform's inconsistent track record. While occasional cinematic gems have emerged, "Murder Mubarak" sadly falls short of expectations. Here's to hoping for a more compelling lineup in the streaming giant's future endeavors.

India's Knives Out.. pankaj Tripathi is brilliant!!

Film Review: Murder Mubarak streaming on Netflix!!

In a nutshell this film is India's Knives Out with a strong ensemble cast!!

It is a dark comedy murder mystery set in the Royal Club in Delhi which is home ( literally!!) to the city's snobbish elite crowd. The murder of a sexy gym instructor Leo (Ashim Gulati) disrupts the delicate ecosystem of the crowd and marks the entry of India's Daniel Craig, ACP Bhavani Singh ( Pankaj Tripathi) who needs to use his expert sleuthing skills to solve this mystery. A lot of skeletons of the tumble out of the closet in the course of the investigation. Will Bhavani Singh finally nab the perp ?

Based on Anuja Chauhan's book "Club You to Death" the main USP of this film is the huge ensemble cast who add a lot of fun as well as emotional quotient to this whodunit.

A few members who have given great performances are - Rajaji ( Sanjay Kapoor) who plays a kangal royal who loves to flaunt his royalty.

The horny aunty club Dimple Kapadia ( Cookie Katoch) and Tisca Chopra ( Roshni Batra ) who love to lust after the young men in the club.

Bambi ( Sara Ali Khan) plays a young widow who secretly pines for the love of her life Lawyer Aakash Dogra ( Vijay Varma) Then there is Karishma Kapoor who plays yesteryear actress Shehnaz Noorani.

Others who deserve a mention are Deven Bhojwani as the Club's Manager & Brijendra Kala as waiter Guppi Ram.

All characters have hidden secrets and each one is a potential suspect!!

Be warned .. the narrative is non linear and given the large pool of suspects , the story can get confusing at times and u will need to be attention personified while watching it !

Pankaj Tripathi is just brilliant and carries the film on his strong shoulders with his quirky one-liners and funny demeanor. But fikar not, ACP Bhavani Singh is a man on a mission out to unravel the truth.

If you have enjoyed watching Knives out & Agatha Christie's novels and films .. you will definitely enjoy this one !

Going with 3/5. Worth a watch for sure .. Adios 🙂!!

Great plot spoiled by botched up script writing!

The movie has a unique style, an eerie set, but was extremely slow where the viewer might want to press the imaginary accelerator to urge the movie to go faster. The dialogues were just not impactful but Pankaj Tripathi tried his hardest to give life to it. Actors like Dimple Kapadia was not used well, as a matter of fact, most movies casting her now a days don't use her well unfortunately!

The screenplay needed a lot of work. The script needed a lot of editing and the movie felt like one of the first iterations of the script before starting to trim it. It didn't have the in-between tense escalations a suspense movie needs.

The writing should have been crisp and neat. Each scene just went meh, and there was no big impactful scene to help us sit through the slow pace of the movie.

I watched it till the end just to know how how it ends and if there is atleast a sensible ending. It could have been a great film!

Disappointing and Dull: Murder Mubarak

As a devoted fan of the mystery thriller genre, I eagerly anticipated the release of "Murder Mubarak." However, after sitting through what can only be described as a tedious cinematic experience, I can confidently say that this film failed to live up to even the most modest of expectations.

First and foremost, the plot was convoluted and lacking in coherence. Instead of delivering a gripping storyline filled with twists and turns, "Murder Mubarak" seemed to stumble through a series of disjointed scenes, leaving viewers scratching their heads in confusion. The pacing was sluggish, with long stretches of monotony punctuated by brief moments of uninspired action.

Furthermore, the characters were one-dimensional and uninteresting. Despite the best efforts of the talented cast, the lackluster writing left them with little to work with, resulting in performances that felt flat and uninspired. It was impossible to become emotionally invested in their fates when their motivations and personalities were so poorly developed.

To make matters worse, the film's attempts at suspense fell painfully short. Rather than building tension gradually, "Murder Mubarak" relied on cheap jump scares and predictable plot twists that did little to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Any potential for genuine intrigue was quickly squandered by lazy storytelling and clichéd tropes.

In conclusion, "Murder Mubarak" is a forgettable addition to the mystery thriller genre. With its muddled plot, lackluster characters, and feeble attempts at suspense, it fails to deliver the gripping cinematic experience that viewers crave. Save yourself the disappointment and seek out a more engaging film to satisfy your craving for mystery and intrigue.

Mix of comedy and thriller

Alot of people will give this film an average review bcoz it's is slow paced but that is on purpose, Indian audience are not used to it. Watch this film only if you liked killers of the moon flower. The characters are crazy entitled so you may not related to them and this film is just a guilty pleasure , sara did a fantastic job. The comedy is how shall I say it either you will like and relate to it or it will be completely miss for you this film is for a certain type audience that audience is not that big in India. Just get some wine intge evening with your partner and enjoy this movie. Chao.

A Nice Christie-Esque Murder Mystery

Really liked the movie. It was a great homage to Agatha Christie styled murder mysteries with our own peculiar Poirot-esque detective played by Pankaj Tripathi. It has all the ingredients of a good Poirot Mystery - 1) Multiple high profile suspects 2) each guarding a dirty secret which connects them to the victim 3) the gradual unearthing of the secrets by Poirot which makes the audience shift their suspicion from one suspect to another 4) as more deaths happen in the present and some in the past 5) till the final meeting in which Poirot reveals some of the secrets one by one till the final unmasking of the killer.

As a long time Aficionado of Christie's stories and a long long list of British detective movies and series that they inspired, I thoroughly enjoyed Murder Mubarak. The mystery was pretty good and all the actors did a good job in the movie even though the talents of some of its cast could have been used even more. Pankaj Tripathi is effortless as usual, Sanjay Kapoor is acting much better now than ever, Vijay Varma gives another good performance. Even Sara did a decent job. Karisma looks great as does Dimple and Tisca and they give decent performance but would have done better in more material roles.

The story is good, performances are good, overall direction is good as well. An OTT release is also the right decision for such content. However at 2 hour 20 mins the movie feels a bit long and it would have been better to release it as a 5-6 episode mini-series and give some more story and screen time to Karisma, Dimple and Tisca's characters. The movie has a couple of raunchy moments which makes it less family friendly than the usual Christie fare. Still it was a fun murder mystery. 7/10.

Wasted Potential: A Star-Studded Cast Underutilized in 'Murder Mubarak'

I watched "Murder Mubarak" recently, and despite the presence of talented actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Dimple Kapadia, Karishma Kapoor, Tisca Chopra, and Sanjay Kapoor, the film was a letdown. It's disheartening to see such capable artists not being utilized to their full potential. The director missed the mark in harnessing their abilities, which could have elevated the movie significantly. The narrative lacked the intrigue and suspense expected from a thriller, and the pacing was inconsistent. While the cinematography and soundtrack were above a average, they were not enough to compensate for the film's shortcomings. Overall, I'd rate it a 4 out of 10 for the wasted opportunity to create something memorable with such a stellar cast.

A good whodunit mystery but could have been better

I've heard a mixed bag of reviews about it, but a powerful cast is surely a great pull to watch a movie. A quirky title and a Hercule Poirot-style investigation made me give it a try.

The film revolves around a murder in a high-society club where everyone has a skeleton in their closet. An honest police inspector investigates the case only to find that everyone in the club has enough motive for the murder and something to hide.

It follows a typical template we've seen in many movies or series, yet it remains fascinating to watch. These kinds of movies peel back layers, keeping you intrigued, and the same happens with this one. The story navigates from one character to another in a very interesting manner, and the backstory adds depth to each character. It takes a while to remember all the characters and their connections.

Sara Ali Khan in the lead is decent, but someone else could have done better. Vijay Varma does well but doesn't quite fit the character, as the world created is one of highly shallow and superficial rich brats. Karishma Kapoor adds spiciness to the movie, and it's a treat to watch her after a long time. The best performances come from Tisca Chopra and Dimple Kapadia; their banter is really funny, and they fully embody their characters. Pankaj Tripathi as the inspector brings nothing new to the table, as we've seen him in similar roles many times.

Movies with this template are rare in Hindi cinema, which gives this one a breath of fresh air. It's a decent thriller, but a little more work on the writing and better casting could have taken it to the next level. Nevertheless, it can be watched by those who love this genre. #pranureviews #MurderMubarak #MurderMubarakReview.

Below Average

I'm rating this a 6 which seems to be on par with the average IMDb rating for this movie. The goes starts of strongs, drags and then picks up so quickly it's hard to make sense of what is going on. The ensemble star-casts wasn't really needed. The strongest character backed role was done (suprisingly) by Sanjay. Not known for his acting chops, he pulled this role off really well and i felt a range of emotions for his character throughout. Karisma does a better job than ever of transitioning from her loud OTT brash acting into something still dramatic but more subtle; believable. I definitely would not watch this again.
