Edit
The "Global Acquisitions Group" is a fictional entity, but the background is inspired by companies that acquire smaller studios such as Electronic Arts, Microsoft, and the Embracer Group. The Global Acquisitions Group logo and acronym (GAG) is a reference to the meme-sharing site 9GAG.
The "/vr/ Award" comic is entirely hand drawn, with many of the pages inspired from historical promotional material and advertising of its nominees. These examples include the ads for Kirby's Dream Land, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Wolfenstein 3D, and Super Mario Kart.
The "Plot and Backstory Award" simulates a PC-98 game, with the female characters from each nominated game having various "stats". and the date in the bottom right being the month and day the game released.
The title, nominee graphics, and results screen in the "Scrappy Doo Award" were made in Microsoft Paint, with the nominee and winner video segments being edited in Kdenlive.
