The CGI is straight out of 3D Animation 101, and poorly done with character movement. I have no clue who the other vocal talent was listed in the credits...but trust me, there was only one voice, even for the female characters. The TV series "Enterprise" had to get special permission after a few seasons to carry the label "Star Trek." How this was able to carry said title is beyond me. Same goes for using characters and music from previous series. The people that own the rights to the Star Trek franchise would do well to pull all records of this ever existing off the shelves and internet (where I found it). The first 15 minutes alone were enough for me just to roll over and let the boring, monotone, SAME voice for every character bore me to sleep.
Do not waste your time. The only reason it got the second star is for how quickly it put me to sleep. But terrible enough to make Rodenberry roll over in his grave.

There are some people out there that once hooked, could never quite give up on Star Trek. They want more than the latest action packed, special effect laden reinvention for the mentally retarded. Not that the original ones were terribly intelligent, but they had heart.
Here comes a new Star Trek story. True, it is an animation and the quality of the animation is ridiculous. Also, the voice over is done by the same guy, no matter the character. There are no aliens, either, just human models walking around with a happy gayt (and that is NOT a typo).
But the length of the film is 3 hours! The script is very consistent with the Star Trek universe, as well, very similar to the one in Generations. I watched the entire thing and, aside some boring moments, I enjoyed it just like any Star Trek NG series episode. All this must be appreciated.
If it was a computer game, people would have quickly come up with mods to change the voice, upgrade the animation, change the story. But no, instead trolls invade the Internet advising anyone (and I assume that includes Star Trek fans) to not watch a Star Trek film on animation and voice over quality alone. Well, I don't know about you, but I chose to ignore them.
Update: seen the other two films. Star Trek II: Retribution and Star Trek III: Redemption. You can find them freely on YouTube, just like this one. First one is three hours and the next is a staggering four hours long, both continuing where the previous film ended. I liked them all, although the introduction of time travel in any movie usually makes them worse than they should have been. Basically you have a 10 hour movie with a continuous story, split into three parts.
Great effort, I must say, and I was really sad to see there is no fourth part. I am not expert, but surely the models and scripts are available. With some help, a complete remastering and redubbing would make this a decent Star Trek series! Maybe a Kickstarter project or something...

I like Star Trek TSpecteris just as much as Star Trek The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and all of its spin offs along with all the other Star Trek canon films and TV shows. Including the Star Trek fan films and TV series The Holy Core, Raincross, Hours At Warp, Chance Factor, The. Tholian Gambit, Battle Of Vol. Sek 2, he Derelict and One Small Step. Each of these could be individual films or episodes of a larger I think that The Holy Core, Raincross, Hours At Warp, Chance Factor, The. Tholian Gambit, duty calls and One Small Step and duty calls works as individual episodes of a larger series. In addition I love Star Trek Voyager more than the other Star Trek movies and television shows and I'm thrilled to see a TV fanfiction series entitled Voyager Continues.
