What happens in this TV series is directly rooted in writer Tørk Haxthausen's personal experiences. In the years 1970-76, Haxthausen worked for the Danish foreign development board - Danida - as a production manager at Tanzania Film Company. He established a film and sound studio in the country's largest city, Dar es Salaam. He also locally produced, wrote and directed eleven short films as well as the feature film Fimbo ya mnyonge from 1974.
