Netflix's 2022 limited series Inventing Anna is not only one of the streaming giant's best shows but also one of its biggest successes. Created by Shonda Rhimes, the series follows the fascinating true story of Anna Delvey aka Anna Sorokin (Julia Garner), a con artist who infiltrated New York City's high society by pretending to be a German heiress. Over nine episodes, Anna not only uses her fake identity to gain access to NYC's most exclusive events but scams friends out thousands of dollars, and even attempts to secure a $40 million loan to start her own elite social club.
The series was based on the New York Magazine article, "How Anna Delvey Tricked New York's Party People," by Jessica Pressler. Prime Video's Cross includes a fantastic soundtrack that helps shape the setting, pacing, and story. Based on the best-selling books by James Patterson, Cross follows a forensic psychologist and detective named Alex Cross, who lost his wife and is raising two kids while solving mysteries. In season 1, he goes up against the Fanboy, a killer who idolizes serial killers and wants his victims to resemble them.
The Amazon Prime show has been well-received by audiences and critics alike, and fans can get excited because Cross season 2 was confirmed before the first season was ever released. The thriller succeeds because of Cross' A+ cast, the well-written story, and the songs that appear in each episode. Music plays an important role in the characterization of the Cross family, making the soundtrack integral to the narrative. Luckily, the creative team chose great songs that amplify every part of the show.
