Netflix Drops Instense Season 2 of Crime Drama 'Unseen'
Image
Netflix has been delivering a constant stream of new movies and TV shows that have grabbed thrill-seeking audiences and refuse to let them go. Now the streamer has dropped Season 2 of a gripping South African action crime drama series that has gained a reputation as one of the platform’s best action-thriller series. What is more, the show has been leaving fans in tears with its incredible, emotional storyline.

Unseen follows Zenzi (Gail Mabalane), a seemingly ordinary cleaner whose life spirals into chaos after her husband mysteriously disappears. What begins as a desperate search for him soon pulls Zenzi into a violent criminal underworld, where she’s forced to confront gangsters, corrupt officials, and become something that she never believed herself to be capable of. Season 1 delivered an outstanding introduction to Zenzi’s story, and received a lot of praise from those who turned up to watch.

‘Unseen’ Season 3 Theories: Will Dawn Molewa Become A Threat To Zenzi?
Image
Unseen season 2 didn’t exactly end on a cliffhanger, but there were a lot of things left uncertain, and most of all, there was a possibility that the people would never come to know about what Harting was up to. Zenzi had taken her revenge, but the world still considered her a fugitive on the run. She still didn’t have any evidence to prove her innocence in the court of law, which is why she wanted to leave the country and start fresh. Though there hasn’t been any official announcement of Unseen season 3 happening, let’s speculate and theorize what could happen to the various characters in the near future.

Spoiler Alert

Will Morkel try to expose Harting?

Hate is a powerful emotion, and I believe it provides fertile soil for vengeance. It can act as a catalyst in a man’s quest for revenge. Morkel had felt hurt after his colleague,...

Unseen Season 2 Review: Motherhood Under Siege
Image
At the heart of South Africa’s underworld, Unseen Season 2 unfolds like a fractured mirror, reflecting a society gripped by power’s unseen currents. From the moment Zenzi Mwale is hauled into a cell—her freedom stripped away, her body carrying new life—the series asks: when the self is reduced to a target, what remains?

Zenzi’s predicament is stark. Arrested for a string of killings, she awakens behind bars with a secret burgeoning within her. Pregnancy becomes both burden and beacon, a reminder that creation can spring from brokenness. As the walls close in, she must combat more than stone and iron. A sprawling bank conspiracy—threads woven through politics, wealth, ancestral privilege—threatens to smother her quest for redemption.

The season’s pulse never softens. Shadows cradle every corridor; neon flickers off prison bars. Action sequences feel less spectacle than ritual, each blow exchanged carrying the weight of existential defiance.

‘Unseen’ Season 2 Ending Explained & Finale Recap: Is Andrew Harting Dead?
Image
Unseen Season 2’s ending was all about Zenzi deciding whether or not she should kill Andrew Harting or forget about all the horrors that he had inflicted upon her and go to Harare, Zimbabwe, to raise her unborn baby under the care of Max’s mother. Harting was working with Ocm Bank CFO Jacob Butler to siphon small amounts of money from its customers. While it wasn’t a big deal for the rich, the poor were immediately feeling its aftereffects, but since nobody cared about the downtrodden, Harting was seamlessly channeling all that stolen money through Raymond’s butcher shop and Jali’s nightclub. However, all that went up in flames last season, thereby prompting Harting to broker a deal with the French. He claimed it was for the “betterment of South Africa,” but it was evident that he was just trying to make up for the losses he had incurred.

‘Unseen’ Season 2 Netflix Review: South Africa’s Hate Letter To A Popular Businessman
Image
Back in the day, when someone used to mention South Africa, we’d associate the country with Nelson Mandela, all the work he had done to bring an end to apartheid, and how he had inspired the entire world as the first Black president of the nation. When it came to the topic of cricket, we’d promptly start talking about Jonty Rhodes, Gary Kirsten (whose contribution to Indian cricket was insane), Jacques Kallis, Shaun Pollock, Ab de Villiers, Dale Steyn (I used to copy his bowling style), and of course, Makhaya Ntini. The men’s football World Cup that was hosted by the country was incredibly entertaining, and we got two of the most iconic songs of all time: “Waka Waka” and “Wavin’ Flag” out of it. And if you get into the world of entertainment, you have Charlize Theron, whose acting skills are as admirable as her philanthropic work.

13 Films to See in August
Image
While the fall movie lineup continues to shift due to studios adamantly deciding not to fairly pay the writers and actors responsible for them being in business in the first place, not much has changed when it comes to August. Aside from A24 yanking Julio Torres’ Problemista from its August 4 opening, the rest of the calendar has stayed intact and here are the films that should be on your radar.

13. What Comes Around (Amy Redford; Aug. 4)

One of the most divisive films to premiere at TIFF last year was Amy Redford’s What Comes Around (formerly titled Roost). Led by Grace Van Dien, Summer Phoenix, Jesse Garcia, and Kyle Gallner, the thriller tracked a young love affair that becomes a menacing game of cat-and-mouse where nothing is what it seems. Jared Mobarak said in his review, “What Comes Around is a tricky film to talk about without massive spoilers unless,...

‘The Unseen’ (2023) Ending, Explained: Who Was The Murderer?
Image
In a random scene of director Vincent Shade’s The Unseen (2023), a character asks another character if he has been able to find the Zodiac Killer. That is more than a clear homage to the iconic David Fincher movie. And the reason is that the director is attempting to pull off something that is cut from the same cloth. Except it just isn’t what he hoped for it to be.

Spoilers Ahead

The whole point of the non-linear narrative format is to elevate the quality of storytelling and essentially make a film more engaging for the audience. This movie uses that just for the sake of looking cool. Everything is so random here, from the acting to the writing to the abrupt changes in tone. For a larger chunk of its runtime, we don’t even get what is really happening. And we don’t really care about it either.

8 New Spells We Want To See In Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree Dlc
Image
The base game of Elden Ring is full of strange, flavorful, and destructive magic that players can wield - spells that can call down meteors from the depths of space or heal dire wounds. At the same time, there are odd gaps in the lexicons of magic Elden Ring gives to its players - schools of magic that are small and missing magical effects once present in earlier FromSoftware games, for instance. The upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree Dlc could go a long way to expand on the magic player characters could wield, particularly if spells like the ones described below were added.

Mechanically, FromSoftware divides Elden Ring’s various magic spells into two rough categories: Intelligence-boosted Sorceries cast with a Glintstone Staff and Faith-boosted Incantations cast with a Sacred Seal. Generally, Sorceries are mostly attack spells with a few spells for support while Incantations are mostly support spells with a few spells for attacking.

What Happens To Zenzi In The Unseen Season 1 Ending?
Image
Netflix's South African crime thriller Unseen ends protagonist Zenzi's journey on a completely ambiguous note — here's what happened to her. Unseen is based on the Turkish series Fatma and follows a cleaner whose husband has inexplicably gone missing after being released from a two-year prison sentence. Unseen chronicles Zenzi's (Gail Mabalane) journey to find her missing husband Max (Vuyo Dabula), but along the way she finds herself caught up in the dark underbelly of her husband's gang who thwart her attempts and try to use her newfound proficiency for murder for their own gain.

Netflix's Unseen had somewhat middling reviews upon its release, but Zenzi's story became more complicated and intriguing as the series went on. Toward the end of Unseen, Zenzi finds herself being chased by both the gang and the police. Zenzi lets her son's killer Raymond (Brendon Daniels) die in a burning building after their final confrontation,...

Why Netflix’s Unseen Has Such Mixed Reviews
Image
The new Netflix series Unseen has divided viewers, inspiring both positive and negative feedback. While not based on a true story, the six-episode crime thriller is an adaptation of the Turkish Netflix series Fatma. Both Unseen and Fatma carry the same premise, in which the protagonist commits a series of murders as she searches for her missing husband. Fatma was released relatively recently in 2021 and seemed to generally please viewers while Unseen has seemingly divided its audience down the middle.

Although Unseen and Fatma are similar, the biggest difference between the two series is the location. Unseen takes place in present-day Cape Town, South Africa, and identifies some of the area's societal problems through its story. Unseen protagonist Zenzi Mwale, played by Gabi Mabalanem, is a cleaner whose husband goes missing after he gets released from jail. While there has been praise online for Unseen's great acting and strong writing,...

‘Mrs Undercover’ (2023) Ending, Explained: Did Durga Solve The Case?
Image
One can observe a growing trend in recent films where a previously ignored aspect in relation to women and their insignificance is taken into consideration and used to change the plot and narrate an impressive story. The insignificance of women, therefore, turns out to be their strength. In “Immerstill,” we had Hannelore Schiller taking her chances to make people aware that women exist despite society considering them unimportant. She wanted society to take up the responsibility for their women. In “Unseen,” we are told through Zenzile Mwale’s life that her insignificance comes of great help to her to reach her beloved husband, irrespective of the murders she commits in her defense.

In “Mrs Undercover,” Anushree Mehta uses the insignificance of Durga (Radhika Apte) to spy on and crack a murder mystery. Durga is reminded by her patriarchal husband (Saheb Chatterjee) that she is just a housewife and knows nothing else.
