the mother

A lady fighting save her son from a terrible addiction. Not new theme for french cinema of last decades but well acted and fair reflecting the tragedy of drugs, the significance, in this context, of family, the honest answer to fear and lost and a crisis bigger and bigger.

A correct film can be the simple definition , completed by appreciation of the performance of Gwendoline Hamon and Gerard Lanvin.

A powerful story who, in some measure, seems have a very precise target.

I appreciate its direct and fresh honesty about a so sinsitive subject than seems not easy to transform in a pathetic one. Short, a lady fighting for her son.

Upon its initial airing in France, the film was part of a thematic evening on addiction, being immediately followed by a 54 minute long debate about opioid addiction entitled "Médicaments, l'Autre Drogue" ("Medicine, the Other Drug"), moderated by Julian Bugier and featuring among others the real Juliette Boudre, upon whose family the film is based, addiction specialist Amine Benyamina and former addict actress Virginie de Clausade. The thematic evening concluded with a rebroadcast of the documentary Jeunesse en fumée (2021).
