Undoubtedly, the most famous role of David Schwimmer's came in Friends as Ross Geller, yet many often wonder what happened to him after the show ended. As one of the most influential sitcoms in TV history, Friends' 10 highly-ranked seasons catapulted the six main actors into stardom. Some of these actors, notably Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox, have gone on to have big movie careers beyond Friends' run while others have persisted with smaller roles. Regardless, no one can deny that all six actors are remembered for their defining moments in Friends, which ran between 1994 and 2004.
One such actor is David Schwimmer, who is most known for his role as Ross Geller. The actor was so integral to the sitcom that Schwimmer even directed several Friends episodes, though it is safe to say that many do not know much of what the actor did after the show ended its run.

Television history is littered with failed sitcoms headlined by comedians that audiences seem to love — in the right show. Turn up in a stinker, however, and the shows are gone in a blink. Matthew Perry was great in Friends, but no one wanted Mr. Sunshine. Audiences adored McLean Stevenson in M*A*S*H but said goodbye to Hello Larry. Jon Cryer scored with Two and Half Men but was booted from his Extended Family this year.
Here are four more comedy stars who flopped multiple times while trying to get sitcoms off the ground…
1 Jason Bateman
Bateman received two well-deserved Emmy nominations for his performance as Michael Bluth in Arrested Development, recognition that came decades after his breakthrough as a Tiger Beat cover boy in Silver Spoons and The Hogan Family. In between, however, he starred in several sitcom flops that lasted a year or less, including It’s Your Move...

David Schwimmer joins season 2 cast of Disney+ Goosebumps as single father Anthony. Season 2 of Goosebumps will feature a new set of characters who didn't appear in season 1. Anthony and his teenage twins will be part of the core cast of the new season.
A former Friends star has joined the cast of Disney+'s Goosebumps. The show, which is based on the children's horror book series of the same name by R.L. Stine, premiered on Disney+ in 2023. So far, the show is proving to be an anthology on the model of American Horror Story, because while season 1 told a serialized story with a consistent cast including Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Miles McKenna, Ana Yi Puig, Will Price, Rachael Harris, and Justin Long, the upcoming season 2 is set to feature a new group of characters.

Spoilr Alert: The story includes details about the series finale of ABC’s A Million Little Things.
DJ Nash’s drama series A Million Little Things ended the way it started, with the death by suicide of one of the friends whose close relationship was at the heart of the show. While Jon’s suicide in the pilot came as a shock to everyone, Gary’s (James Roday Rodriguez) passing in tonight’s series closer had been set up, with the final season building toward it as Gary battled terminal Stage IV lung cancer.
The finale revealed that Gary had made a pact with Rome and Eddie for them to help him die “with dignity” if the pain became unbearable. No longer able to speak, Gary evoked the promise by writing “Rutledge,” the friends’ key work for helping each other’s families. Eddie and Rome both struggled with Gary’s...

Even though A Million Little Things opened in 2018 with Boston businessman Jon Dixon (Ron Livingston) killing himself, series creator DJ Nash says his drama is about embracing what lies ahead. “I knew from the beginning how I wanted the story to end,” says Nash, who’d previously worked on comedies such as Traffic Light, Up All Night, and Growing Up Fisher. This deeply personal tale of the people impacted by Jon’s suicide — not only his wife and children, but best buds Eddie (David Giuntoli), Gary (James Roday Rodriguez), and Rome (Romany Malco) and the ones they love — launched two years after This Is Us made it cool to cry and has leaned into the feels ever since. A wry, emotional ensemble soap, the ABC series has explored mental and physical health, racism, sexual identity, addiction, and more. (The Emmys bestowed an honorary award on Things in 2019 for offering “television with a conscience.

D.J. Nash reveals that the idea for “A Million Little Things” came from a tragic personal experience. While he was working on another series, which he describes as “the worst gig of my career,” he ran into a friend on the lot and made plans for lunch. But shortly thereafter, his friend died by suicide. “I don’t think that our lunch could have saved him,” Nash continues, “but I do think, pretty much every day, that we could’ve had one more lunch.” Watch our exclusive video interview with Nash above.
After that experience Nash envisioned a series about a tight-knit group of friends whose lives are rocked when one of them (Ron Livingston) takes his own life. “It made me put things in perspective,” says Nash about the loss of his friend. “It made me realize things and look at life in a different way. So I wanted...

CBS Studios International has secured the global rights to ABC drama A Million Little Things – marking the first Kapital Entertainment-produced series for a third-party network that the distribution division will sell since its deal with producer Aaron Kaplan.
Kaplan partnered with CBS Corporation last year in a joint venture that saw the latter acquire an ownership stake in Kapital Entertainment, whereby it would provide co-financing for Kapital projects and will serve as worldwide distributor.
Up until now, these have been CBS and CBS Studios-related projects, but A Million Little Things, the hourlong gamble from DJ Nash, the comedy writer behind NBC’s Growing Up Fisher and Truth Be Told, marks a step change.

DJ Nash’s hourlong gamble paid off. A Million Little Things, the first drama project ever from the comedy writer who created NBC’s Growing Up Fisher and Truth Be Told, was a big front-runner among ABC’s 2018 crop of pilots and now was handed one of the network’s first series orders for next season. The project, from ABC Studios and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, joins light cop drama The Rookie starring Nathan Fillion as well as The Goldbergs spinoff.
A Million Little Things features an all-star ensemble cast, many of whom had led their own series: David Giuntoli, Ron Livingston, Romany Malco, Allison Miller, Christina Moses, Christina Ochoa, James Roday, Stephanie Szostak and Lizzy Greene. Livingston’s casting had not been confirmed until now, but he was in the pilot, playing a pivotal role, and will appear in multiple episodes of the series.

Jenna Elfman thought she was done with network TV.
“Dharma and Greg” put her on the map in the late 1990s, but after that hit, the actress suffered through a series of disappointments, including “Courting Alex,” “Accidentally on Purpose,” “1600 Penn,” and “Growing Up Fisher.”
“I had written off network TV,” Elfman said. “I told my agents not to come to me with another network show. I work really hard and I do my best to promote the shows. I feel like mostly I do a good job. In any other field that would give you job security. Sometimes it’s like it doesn’t matter.”
But there was something she couldn’t resist about “Imaginary Mary,” her new ABC series from “The Goldbergs” executive producer Adam F. Goldberg.

Paramount Pictures has announced that the official title for the fifth installment of director Michael Bay's Transformers film franchise will be titled Transformers: The Last Knight. They even released the title treatment for the movie that you can see above.
The cast for the film has also been confirmed. Mark Wahlberg will reprise his role as Cade Yeager and he will be joined by Isabela Moner (100 Things to Do Before High School, Growing Up Fisher) who will be taking on the film’s female lead, Izabella. Then there's Jerrod Carmichael (Neighbors), who is set to play an unspecified leading role.
Transformers: The Last Knight is being written by Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway along with Black Hawk Down writer Ken Nolan. It would be pretty cool if we actually got a great Transformers movie, but I won't hold my breath for that. These films just have gotten progressively worse.

The next installment in the Michael Bay-directed multi-billion dollar Transformers franchise has an official title - Transformers: The Last Knight. No further plot details were divulged, but it's probably a safe bet that the subtitle is a direct reference to Optimus Prime, who we learned in the previous film was a member of the mythical group known as the Knights of Cybertron. It'll be interesting to see what brings the legendary hero back to Earth after we last saw him jetting off into space to confront his Creators. NBC has put in development I Love Lakshmi, a multi-camera family comedy from Universal TV and studio-based Aggregate (Growing Up Fisher).
The project is co-written by Muffy Bolding & Doug Prochilo and inspired by Prochilo’s real-life experience marrying into an Indian family (He is married to Universal TV president Bela Bajaria). At NBC, I Love Lakshmi joins another Indian American-themed comedy, Pre-Madonna, from Uni TV and Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Prods., which has a put pilot commitment. Written by filmmaker Nisha Ganatra inspired by her adolescence, the project finds Sarita Gupta entering a Chicago high school in 1983 and navigating the painful and hilarious path of finding out who she really is.

NBC’s new comedy “Truth Be Told” has a good heart but it falls short in the laughs department. The new domestic comedy from D.J. Nash (“Growing Up Fisher”) means well in its depiction of two diverse couples who are best friends. The show is based on Nash’s real life — he’s married to a Korean woman, and Nash jokes that his white guilt is the fifth character in the show. It’s funny in theory, but in practice, not quite. The show tries to find comedy in life’s everyday quandaries and awkward moments such as “what...

Sometimes it seems like there are certain people who just can’t lose for losing in this industry. Of course, sometimes we’re fine with that.
And, I don’t suppose you can say that Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s last effort was a loss, especially since a lot of people loved it.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a bit of a fan, because I’m the right age, and if you’re that age too, you know that I’m required to be. Still, it isn’t just Gosselaar who’s at issue here, and this is a show “from the mind of” someone with a string of shows that didn’t get very far. Shows I liked, more or less, but shows that definitely didn’t take off.
I’m encouraged here, mainly because the theory of the show is intriguing, and Gosselaar could pull it off.

Should we feel bad for Eddie Huang? The restaurateur whose memoir about his childhood inspired the current ABC sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat" went on a multi-post Twitter rant after this week's episode, complaining that, since the pilot, the show has drifted far from the reality of his own experience, to the point where "it got so far from the truth that I don't recognize my own life."
That's certainly unfortunate, even for a guy who received a tidy sum for the TV rights to his autobiography. No one wants to see his or her experience distorted and broadcast to millions. Then again, what did he expect? It's a network sitcom. It's generally going to avoid any bleak reality that can't be resolved in 22 minutes.
This sort of biographical distortion has been an issue for sitcoms since the dawn of television, since the format simply doesn't lend itself easily to...
