Keeps you glued to your seat

The described plot of the movie does little to prepare you for the emotional rollercoaster this film is. Touching on a very sensitive topic in the culture of the region- infertility- the director (Emil Guliyev) skillfully walks us through the journey of a man (Hikmat Rahimov) who goes from hope to desperation, from desperation to happiness, from happiness to cautious questioning, which in turn puts him head on with bitter reality and drags him into the oblivion of revenge. With all this thrill, loving relationship of a husband and wife (Arzu Abdulova) stands as a backbone to the story and continuously attempts to whitewash all the madness. Probably, the best psychological thriller of the Azerbaijani cinema so far.

Emil Guliev is the mirror of this society

Emil Guliev is the mirror of this society. It is the society in which stereotypes immensely influences the people's lives. It is the society where both women and men are consistently and deliberately being labeled with awful biases, such as being "a weak man" or "a sterile woman".

Although my expectation was quite high before going to see the movie, I could not imagine the plot would greatly exceed my expectations. Some scenes were exceptionally disturbing which, not surprisingly, resulted in my squirming in my seat.

It is especially important to support this movie to reach a wider audience in Azerbaijan with the hope of at least overcoming some of the barriers and giving a voice to those who have suffered and are presently suffering from exposure to harmful stereotypes in this society.
