Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired the animated feature film Stitch Head, described as “Frankenstein meets Monsters, Inc.,” for theatrical release just in time for Halloween.

The family adventure is getting a wide theatrical release on October 29, 2025.

Stitch Head is based on the first story in author Guy Bass’s book series, now six books deep, and “brings to life a quirky, heartwarming tale full of monster mayhem, unexpected friendships, and cinematic thrills.”

It follows the story of a small, forgotten creature living in a long-abandoned castle. Awoken by a Mad Professor, Stitch Head is tasked with protecting the professor’s other wildly inventive creations from the suspicious townspeople of Grubbers Nubbin.

Directed by and adapted for the screen by Steve Hudson, the voice cast includes Asa Butterfield, Joel Fry, Alison Steadman (“Inside No. 9“), Rob Brydon (Barbie), Fern Brady, Tia Bannon, and Jamali Maddix.

“Stitch Head,” an animated feature that debuted at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June, has been acquired for United States distribution by Briarcliff Entertainment. It will have a theatrical release on Oct. 29, “just in time for Halloween,” as the official release notes.

The movie is based on the first story in the children’s book series by Guy Bass and was adapted and directed by Steve Hudson. Global Constellation, the financing and international sales outfit recently formed through the union of London- and Paris-based Film Constellation with Munich’s Global Screen, is making a strong showing at the Annecy Animation Festival as it unveils its animation slate.

Global Constellation, part of Vuelta Group’s international sales division Playtime Group, has six high-caliber animated features in production and slated for delivery in 2025 and 2026, and additional titles in advanced development for 2027 and beyond.

Exclusive: Gfm Animation has closed key deals on feature film Stitch Head ahead of its world premiere at Annecy International Animation Film Festival next week.

The film has sold to Germany (Wild Bunch), France (Wild Bunch), Italy & Spain (Vertice Cine), Latin America (Idc), South Africa (FilmFinity), Portugal (Nos), Greece (Neo), Eastern Europe (Vertical), Cis (Central Partnership), Baltics (Acme), Iceland (Myndform), China (Aviro), Mongolia (Filmbridge), Vietnam (Skyline), Israel (Filmhouse), Middle East (Ecs) and airlines (Ricochet).

It will have its world premiere in the Annecy Presents strand on Tuesday, June 10.

Warner Bro. revealed that they have partnered with Gfm Animation to create the first-ever fully-animated feature-length Looney Tunes film for theatrical release.

In an interview with Variety, Warner Bros. stated that the film, titled The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, will be available for worldwide sales at the American Film Market in October and November of this year. They will also be sharing some first-look footage of the sci-fi comedy film, which was directed by executive producer Pete Browngardt and features Daffy Duck and Porky Pig in starring roles as they attempt to save Earth from an alien invasion.
