The dream team of Pastewka and Engelke elevates this rather short series miles above the average German romantic comedy. Bastian Pastewka takes on the Lorioesque role of the dry sports retail salesman and newly divorced family man plagued by bad luck, while Anke Engelke plays the bookstore owner whose relationships and job are cursed with bad karma and a lack of tact. Whether the two ultimately find each other is left to the imagination, but their paths cross frequently, defying all odds, yet they somehow manage to miss each other perfectly, as the title suggests. The series gleefully mocks luxury wellness, gourmet restaurants, and false friends. And it does so with such attention to detail and irony that it is reminiscent of the best of Loriot's sketches. Loriot himself would probably have enjoyed these absurd scenes as much as the viewers. A German series with humor? Yes, they do exist.
Wow! Just finished the first season within 2 days. Binge watching. Such a great excellent series! I have loved to see the dream team Bastian Pastewka and Anke Engelke since my childhood (decades!) but didn't expect this show to be sooo good! It's brilliant, very well written, very good played. It caught my interest and I'm not satisfied with series very easily. Hope Amazon will continue this catchy series.
The nice aspect with the way they share short messages to find out they have the same sense of humor and the struggles both have in their own lives with unfulfilled love and a divorce combined with Bastian Pastewka's typical character role which he has shown us in so many episodes of the series Pastewka and in other acting roles is a wonderful mix and makes much fun to watch it.

Bastian Pastewka and Anke Engelke play a "couple" who don't meet, even though they should. Everything takes place in a charming little town where everyone knows everyone else. Except for Bastian and Anke. Why is that? Never mind. Sounds like a good premise for a nice comedy. And both actors can be absolutely great. But not in this series. I'm now through episode 3 and don't know what to make of it. There's really zero humor. But maybe the show is just supposed to be a long-winded drama?
Bastian drifts through the scenes in a melancholy mood because he's just got divorced and wants to be a great da for his daughters. Anke is just in a bad mood because her former girlfriend has allegedly stolen the idea for a novel series from her. And as a viewer you have to ask yourself, is something happening out of that premise? Unfortunately not until the end of episode three. Anyone looking for humor or even comedy is in the wrong place here. Terrible waste of two great comedians.
But then again, mabe the show is supposed to be a drama.
