aspirations

I learned of Lila Avilés from her 2018 movie "The Chambermaid", focusing on a woman working in an upscale hotel in Mexico City. The second movie of hers that I've seen is the 2023 short "Ojo dos veces boca" ("Eye Two Times Mouth" in English), focusing on a woman working in gallery who aspires to be an opera singer.

I guess that Avilés's style is to focus on those who wish for something better. I bet that this sort of story could apply to most people worldwide (and this woman doesn't even have the most dehumanizing job in the world). All in all, it's definitely a short that I recommend. You can find it on YouTube. I'll be eager to see Avilés's next movie.
