Christopher Ming-Shun Lee is actually originally from Malaysia but based in Singapore due to his marriage with Singaporean-born actress Fann Wong, and his character in the miniseries is a public defence attorney of indigenous Amis ethnicity, and had to learn an unfamiliar language for the role.
