Mother Father Sister Brother Frank

Oh my goodness. I knew nothing about Mother Father Sister Brother Frank going into it. However, I was SO surprised by how good this film is! I was extremely lucky to catch the WORLD premiere and got a chance to meet the director which made the film even better. This film is filled with so much love; humor; gore; family drama and more! This is a perfect balance of genres centered around a family who is far from perfect in all the best ways.

Caden has made a truly exceptional film! Wonderful performances all around with the legendary Mindy Cohn standing out.

I cannot wait for everyone to see how hilarious this movie is! Bravo bravo bravo!

Weird review title? Not really. They're in the same order as the movie title. Each and every one of them. This comedy thriller tells a story about a somewhat dysfunctional family. The parents were keeping a huge secret from their children, one which can effect their family in a bad way. And in return, the son and daughter were also hiding something big from their parents. They gathered for a Sunday family dinner, unaware of the secrets which were about to be spilled because of one person. Frank. Even if he only showed up for less than half of the movie, but he is the key character to the plot. Normal people would think that murder is unacceptable. But given this Frank character, you're gonna rethink about that ideal. And that's what the parents were thinking about when he crashed the dinner only to inflict pain on his brother's family.

There's some family drama in this movie, especially nearing the ending. There's some heartwarming family moments. Despite the circumstances, the movie still has a good ending. It was also well acted and directed very well. Not all good movies need big budget.

The Jennings family is having Sunday dinner. Mother Joy (Mindy Cohn) infantilizes her adult children. Father Jerry (Enrico Colantoni) is desperate to tell their kids some dark secret. Daughter Jolene (Melanie Leishman) has stopped drinking. Brother Carl (Chad Connell) is avoiding. Joy is forcing happiness upon her family when Jerry's despicable older brother Frank shows up.

I can't buy that Joy and Jerry had never considered killing Frank. This is not the sharpest family. There is some dysfunctional fun in them. I do question a lot of their actions, but that seems to be par for the course. They are who they are. The movie is often on the verge of collapse, but the actors are able to keep the train rolling.

I knew nothing about this movie but decided to watch it anyway and oh god I laughed so hard. I usually can't watch gore-ish movies especially with blood and things, but the story was captivating and the cast were all great so all good for me.

Speaking of the cast, they were all great! I didn't know who were they but that's a plus for me and their performance were good, like funny but not over the top. Also, the movie has this kinda vibe that reminds me of watching a play in a theatre, but in a good way.

I should watch other Douglas' movies, wish they were accessible on mainstream streaming services.
