I thought that the story was mostly sweet, fun and dramatic. That is where my positive feedback ends.
It is as though they digitized the movements of the Team America World Police puppetry. The scenes were ornate and beautiful, however, it is incredibly frustrating to watch the stiff movements that are a huge step backward for anime. Also, the facial movements are wooden and even the coloration is not good.
The episodes were very short and wasted 25% of their effort on fake commercials at the end.
I really wanted to like this, but, the 3D CG is hugely off-putting. I hope that if this series continues (which the ending of the second season does not imply), they are able to make their characters feel more alive.

This is seriously such a funny and well done animation. The story was entertaining, I love the chibi art style moments, and it got a season 2. Most anime's don't get finished so I was excited when I heard of season 2 and enjoyed it just as much as the first season.
For the first time I enjoyed nearly all characters (aside from the scheming uncle) but even the concubines were funny. I really enjoyed her brothers and the astrologer guy. If you have the time definitely give this show a chance... you won't regret it, unless you hate the feeling of never finding a show as good as the one you just finished.

Emperor Xiao Jinyun of Dachen and his Empress Xu Yu got married for the court's sake. She is the daughter of the powerful commander-in-chief but is unfavored by him. He doesn't defend her when his mother the Empress Dowager and his noble consort disrespect her. Thus, she does not enjoy the trappings of power and respect in the royal household.
Things change when for some magical reason, Jinyun and Xu Yu switch bodies. With this shared secret and to preserve their lives, they become inseparable, with him sleeping on her bed every day, something he has never done before. Living in her body, he finds out how she has suffered for his neglect of her in terms of being mistreated by his mother and concubines and being framed for things she has not done.
Having been trained in archery and martial arts, Xu Yu is able to help Jinyun with his imperial duties relating to the security and stability of his realm.
This is highly entertaining. The royal household intrigues and the development of the romance are reminiscent of such great Chinese dramas as The Sword and the Brocade and The Story of Minglan.
I'm looking forward to Season 3.

At first I thought this wound be one of those cringe odd romantic shows that shortens your attention span to a bean whenever you watch it but to my surprise it actually was interesting and the characters had way more depth than I thought they would. Overall it's actually good and sometimes the comedy can hit hard in my opinion they should forget about the little commercials at the credits and focus on the actual show instead. In a way it kinda feels as a missed opportunity and I don't know why but it just feels that way like something is missing that would make the show better in some way. I also feel like they didn't go that deep into some of the side characters that had great potential.
Overall would recommend if your bored and want to watch a show that could be interesting.
