Motu Patlu

Netflix is dropping 18 movies and series this week
Image
The third week of any given month is not overly emotionally difficult for Netflix subscribers regarding favorite titles leaving. The real exodus occurs at the end of every month, and the other items saying goodbye are scattered about.

Such is the case with the list below. While 18 items are going away, many of them belong to a couple of particular franchises. For instance, three Motu Patlu titles are moving on. Rudra fans also have to say heartfelt goodbyes to a couple of titles. Overall, not a bad week.

There are a couple of winners you only have a short time to watch before Netflix drops them. One is the Jennifer Lawrence comedy, No Hard Feelings. Is the film great? Maybe not, but it is fairly fun. Lawrence also does something a lot of actors do not and goes full frontal, but in the unsexiest way possible (and the funniest way...

Ketan Mehta Calls for Indian Animation Caught in a ‘Vicious Cycle’ to Adopt ‘Global Mindset’ – Mumbai Festival
Image
Ketan Mehta, the revered Indian filmmaker who also serves as founder and chair of animation house Cosmos-Maya, known for long-running animated Nickelodeon show “Motu Patlu,” says that the global companies who operate TV channels in India create content that is local-specific and fails to resonate with international audiences.

Mehta was speaking at the ongoing Mumbai International Film Festival which hosted a lively panel debate on animation. The discussion featured some of the top Iranian and Indian names in the business.

“It’s a vicious circle that we are caught in, it’s a fight that we have often,” Mehta said. “We need to break out of this. We need a creative ambition, which is greater than just our domestic market, you need a global mindset that says that you are reaching out to the whole world. We are all global citizens now, in one way or the other, we are...

Naruto Gets Crowned As The Most Popular Kids’ TV Show In 83 Countries
Image
A new research revealed Naruto anime as the world’s most popular kids TV show in over 83 countries.

According to a comprehensive study conducted by data analysts at TheToyZone, Naruto has secured its place as the most sought-after kids’ TV show in a staggering 83 countries, surpassing all other contenders in popularity.

Naruto‘s global dominance extends across continents. It holds the top spot in North America (10 countries including Canada & Mexico), South America (7 countries including Brazil & Argentina), Europe (22 countries including Germany & France), the Middle East and Central Asia, and even Africa (22 countries).

Notably, Naruto’s home country, Japan, also features the show as the most popular children’s program.

TheToyZone attributes Naruto‘s global success to its engaging story, well-developed characters, exciting action sequences, and powerful themes like friendship, perseverance, and selflessness.

While Naruto emerged victorious, it was followed by CoComelon, a children’s Youtube channel featuring nursery rhymes and sing-alongs,...

‘Concrete Utopia’ Dominates Korea’s Grand Bell Awards – Global Bulletin

Ringing Korea’S Grand Bell

“Concrete Utopia,” South Korea’s Oscar contender, was Wednesday named best film at the country’s annual Grand Bell Awards. It also won prizes for best actor, best supporting actress, art direction, sound mixing and visual effects. A disaster movie set in a devastated Seoul, it makes an unusual Academy Awards selection, but has gained high praise from reviewers. Variety this week said the film felt like “’Earthquake’ crossed with ‘Lord of the Flies’.”

The Grand Bell’s best director award nevertheless went to Ryoo Seung-wan for “Smugglers,” while Ahn Tae-jin took the best new director award for “The Night Owl.”

In the other half of the event, Disney+’s “Moving” was named best series, earning Han Hyo-joo the best series actress award to boot.

The Grand Bell Awards, aka Daejong Film Awards, are organized by The Motion Pictures Association of Korea.
