Celebrity chronicles the journey of Seo A-ri (played by Park Gyu-young), who was born rich but is left to do part-time jobs after the family hits rock bottom. From not being on Instagram to becoming the numero uno 'e-celeb,' Seo A-ri's brush with success and the horrors of it is what makes 'Celebrity' such an intriguing watch.
The drama exposes that it is no secret that artificial intelligence and the virtual world are quickly dominating our lives, and will soon become the absolute reality for many, and the consequences that comes with it. Celebrity's' screenplay and writing are refreshing and honest. You can see that the writer is not taking a stand or lecturing you on how social media can become a horror story if you don't set boundaries. Instead, it tells you the very benefits of the platform which is not without its faults. The world can be condescending and conniving without any set rules. But your journey is a result of the choices you make. Right or wrong, is for you to choose.
Apart from standout performance by Park Gyu-young, the rest of the characters were perfectly blended as well. The climax of the show is very fast paced, with all the pieces suddenly solving the puzzle but it was thrilling nevertheless.
My Rating: 8/10.

Overall, Celebrity is typical in its format. We have the world of the rich which is filled to the brim with individuals who will stop at nothing to get their way, and then we have the main character who is different from the rest - determined to hold on to her morals and shield herself from the evil that awaits her.
If you're looking for a light thriller without much depth, then this is the show for you. It doesn't require you to think - instead, it allows you to sit back and watch events unfold as characters descend further into madness and others take advantage of that, securing their places on top.

Celebrity
This South Korean series delves into the world of the rich and the things they do to hold onto the wealth and prestige they have.
Celebrity starts strong, but by the last episodes plot holes become apparent and it begins to lose its steam. The side plots were mostly unnecessary, and it would have been better if the plot stuck to the celebrity world it began with.
The acting is mostly good save for the characters that express themselves by screaming and yelling. The romance between the lead and her partner was contrived.
The cinematography is rich, and the soundtrack is enjoyable.

This was a little confusing throughout the series; first all the influencers were introduced with their husbands and other relations and they were a challenge to sort out, then later the issue of whether the FL is dead or alive - I mean why would she be doubted despite the live streaming, when she is showing up at events all the time? Then later the ending is a little confusing as well with the guy featured at the end. Nevertheless it was entertaining to watch and the ML Kang Min-hyuk was excellent in his role, and kept his coolness throughout - and easy on the eyes for sure. The FL. Park Gyu-young was a great match for him and she also played her role well of the influencer climbing to the top and seeking revenge at the same time turning into the type of person she dislikes by using others. I would have liked to see a little more romance between the ML and FL though.
From the moment I started the first episode I was so captivated and could not stop watching. It was so entertaining watching the secrets and plot twist unfold. This has got to be one of the best K-dramas I've seen in a while! The storyline is different from the typical dramas on Netflix, so it was a breath of fresh air which I very much enjoyed. There was a lack of romance in the show, but it probably wouldn't have fit as the main character was constantly portrayed as a cold person. However, I do wish the main actress had more chemistry or development in her relationship. I'm so surprised the show doesn't have a higher rating, but hopefully with time it will change. I can't wait to see what else the writers and director comes out with next!
