Teen prodigy Litchfield rewarded with Ashes call-up for Australia
Image
Melbourne, March 29 (Ians) Teenage batter Phoebe Litchfield has been rewarded for her recent white-ball form by winning a place in Australia’s 15-player squad for their Ashes tour of England.

Australia will play one Test match, three T20Is and three ODIs in the multi-format women’s Ashes series, to be held in England from June 22. The Meg Lanning-led have held the women’s Ashes since 2015 and won by 12-4 margin in 2021/22 at home.

Litchfield, the 19-year-old batting prodigy, who caught attention by hitting back-to-back half-centuries in her first two ODIs against Pakistan in January, is the only addition to the Australian squad who secured a record-extending sixth T20 World Cup title in South Africa in February.

“Following the success of the side at the recent T20 World Cup, the focus now turns to the exciting challenge of retaining the Ashes away from home. We’ve been fortunate to...

‘The Odds’ DVD Review
Image
Stars: Abbi Butler, James J. Fuertes, Katie Gunn, Les Parker, Sean Ramey | Written and Directed by Bob Giordano

The Odds sits alongside movies like Buried and Elevator which have a set of characters (or character) in one small setting for the entirety of the movie. In The Odds we see a man and woman sat opposite each other at a table in a small room from pretty much the first minute to the last.

I actually like these types of movies. Having that singular setting and a limited amount of characters means that the film has to rely on great performances and/or a great script if it wants to excel. The characters here are sat at the table to play a game. Well, at least one of them, the woman. She is hoping to win $1 million dollars in a pain endurance ‘game’ that is being filmed seemingly for people to put bets on.

Space Jam 2: Every Crazy Cameo We've Seen So Far
Image
A New Legacy is rightfully being compared to Ready Player One and the Lego movies after Warner Bros. dropped the first Space Jam 2 trailer. The 2018 big adaptation of Ernest Cline's 2011 novel had a huge amount of Warner Bros. cameos for fans to geek out on, but the Space Jam sequel may contain even more cameos from even weirder parts of the studio's vast vault, as evidenced by the short trailer. Prepare for multiple viewings of the Space Jam 2 trailer.

But now we have more news of Ocn getting back to the swing of things with two Hallyu stars signing on for an upcoming K-drama. 10 Underseen Films By Alfred Hitchcock and François Truffaut
In 1962, two filmmakers met in a room at Universal Studios to discuss (what else?) cinema. Those directors were François Truffaut and Alfred Hitchcock. (Providing assistance was French-language translator Helen Scott.) Together, they talked for over 50 hours, poring over every film the old master ever made. In 1967, Truffaut published what has universally come to be known as an essential text, titled Hitchcock/Truffaut, which contains rich and detailed transcripts of the extraordinary conversation.

Filmmaker Kent Jones‘ documentary about this historic meeting of the minds is now out, which inspired The Film Stage to look back at some of the forgotten, overlooked, and underrated films from these two beloved directors. The following ten titles contain all of the nuance, mystery and joy that we’ve come to expect from Hitchcock and Truffaut, with many overlapping themes and stylistic sensibilities.

Please enjoy the list, and don’t forget to suggest your own favorites in the comments.

Top 10 Musicals That Should Be Made Into Movies
There are two upcoming movie musicals that, for a long time, I've wanted to make into motion pictures, should someone with money be willing to give me the funds to make them -- Into The Woods and The Last 5 Years. I'm both nervous and excited to see how directors Rob Marshall and Richard Lagravenese, respectfully, have interpreted the material I hold so close to my heart. I am especially nervous for Into The Woods, given Marshall's less than impressive track record. If someone is going to screw up something I cherish, it should be me. Of course, there are far more than two musicals I have a deep connection to. Some have already been made into films, like Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Les Miserables, but there is a vast collection of musicals I have thought could make fantastic films, but have never been made.
