When they travel to Istanbul with a ship, a radio newscast announces that the Japanese have attacked Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor attack was on December 7, 1941, which was winter time in Turkey. Back in the 40's, winters were very strong and they can't be traveling on the deck of the ship without coats or any kind of winter wear as depicted in the movie.
