Is Agent Carter season 2 as good as season 1? No. It's even better. The opening two-parter is flawless Marvel television...

2.1 The Lady In The Lake & 2.2 A View In The Dark

In the past, I’ve criticised Marvel’s TV output for too-frequently failing to meet the high standards of the movies. Even the Netflix output, which has been occasionally excellent, is uneven at best. In fact, of all Marvel’s spin-offs, it’s fair to say that the first season of Agent Carter is the only one they completely nailed. So it’s with some delight I can say that the episodes that get Season 2 rolling are, if anything, even better.

This is, by some distance, as close as I’ve come to feeling like I’m watching a Marvel movie within the TV format. It’s funny, it’s fast-paced, and the characters are multi-faceted but consistent.

Forget Ant-Man, many would say that Agent Carter has been the surprise Marvel hit of the year. Starring Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter – Captain America’s WW2-era lost love/kickass secret agent in her own right – the show combined superhero shenanigans and good old-fashioned spy action and went down a treat with critics and fans alike. Despite the first season airing as mid-season filler for Agents Of Shield, the series has been brought back by popular demand and the second season of the show will air next year.

All we know so far is that the action will relocate from New York to Los Angeles and that Peggy will be moving on from Cap and get a new love interest.

Finally! The terrific Agent Carter starring Hayley Atwell has been snapped up by Fox in the UK and starts in July...

Hayley Atwell recently intimated on Twitter that a deal to bring Agent Carter to the UK was on the horizon, and here it is: Fox has acquired the rights to air the Marvel show on these shores.

The first eight-episode season of Agent Carter, which went down a storm in the Us after airing in Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mid-season gap earlier this year, comes to Fox in the UK in July.

The news comes after months of UK Marvel fans waiting for legitimate means to see the 1940s-set spy thriller. Despite being the home of its sister show, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Channel 4 told Den Of Geek last year that it had no plans to pick up the period off-shoot. 1.3 Time And Tide

After a strong pair of opening episodes, this week's Agent Carter proved that the series has no intention of slowing down the pace with a third instalment that advances the plot, develops the main characters and turns in some surprising twists for the supporting cast. It may have been slightly lighter on action, but it's testament to the show's strong writing and well-drawn characters that when the fight scene turned up you'd almost forgotten the show's genre demanded one.

The most interesting thread this episode pulled on was Jarvis' backstory. It's been clear from the first instalment that he wasn't exactly an ordinary butler, and in this episode he claims to have been mountaineering before the war, and that he was discharged from the army for treason after...

With the revelations that occured in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s recent midseason finale (which we went into in detail about here), it's fair to assume that there will be new challenges, enemies and allies for Coulson and co. after the excellent Agent Carter rounds-off its run.

As such, it's a nice surprise to see a highly ambigous casting announcement. Indeed, it seems Marvel is playing some cards close to its chest on this one.

They've told us that Edward James Olmos will play 'Robert Gonzales', though, of course that could be a decoy from a more recognisable Marvel moniker. If there's a clue there, we can't decipher it.

The only Marvel Gonzaleses in the internet's hive memory were police officer Vincent, and his sister Michele.

According to the people behind Agent Carter, the TV show only exists because of a huge groundswell of interest and support for the character in the wake of the first Captain America movie. It's not hard to see why. Atwell's performance turned what could've been a thankless position as "Hero's love interest" into a role with genuine heart and vulnerability. If any supporting character from Marvel's cinematic universe deserved a spin-off, it was her.

But between fan expectation and the burden of being Marvel's first female-led property, Agent Carter couldn't really afford to take the best part of a year to reach the point of being watchable, like its sister show Agents Of Shield did. It...

At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, I want to preface this review by saying that Agent Carter is now my second-favorite thing that Marvel Studios has made, second only to Guardians of the Galaxy. We’re only two hours into the new seven-part series, but it’s just that good.

The show is, quite simply, what we hoped Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would be before it was released: a fun new glimpse at a corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we wouldn’t be able to witness on the big screen. While S.H.I.E.L.D. has struggled since the beginning to justify its own existence (something it’s thankfully done now, half of the way through its second season), Agent Carter succeeds...

Agent Carter, a spin-off of Agents of Shield, is what dreams are made of. I don't just say that because it's essentially a 1940s version of Alias, a show I love so much that I've dressed up as Sydney Bristow for Halloween. And I don't just say that because the big band soundtrack makes me want to 23 skidoo. Agent Carter could have been nothing more than Marvel's olive branch to fans who were less than thrilled that a sentient tree got a film before one of their arsenal of fabulous lady heroes. And yet it is much more than that. The miniseries' first two episodes, "Now is Not the End" and "Bridge and Tunnel," prove that, minor faults aside, Agent Carter is the Marvel show we both deserve and need.

Marvel fans eagerly anticipating something new will get just that tonight as both Marvel's Agent Carter and the first Ant-Man teaser trailer premiere on ABC. ABC has released a new TV spot for Marvel's Agent Carter, which stars Hayley Atwell as a secret agent for S.H.I.E.L.D. and a one woman army. The promo is basically welcoming her to the network's list of powerful female characters that the ABC network has introduced to us over the years, such as Sydney Bristow and Olivia Pope.

Following the the sneak peek that aired during Marvel's 75th Anniversary Special, Marvel has released a new clip from ABC's Marvel's Agent Carter, featuring Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter and Ashley Hinshaw as her roommate, Colleen O'Brien. This scene gives us a glimpse at Peggy's home life, as she tries to hide her covert work with the Ssr from Colleen, telling her that she works for the phone company. It remains to be seen if Peggy's secret life will be uncovered when the eight-episode series debuts.

As Marvel’s small screen endeavour Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., tucks in for winter hibernation, its next serial is revving up for a winter start. Together with ABC, Marvel have now released the official synopses for Agent Carter‘s first two episodes.

The show is set to begin its eight-episode run in January, with Hayley Atwell returning to play the feisty S.H.I.E.L.D. operative in the events following Captain America: The First Avenger. She’s had a brief reprieve in Cap follow-up, The Winter Soldier, as well as her own Marvel One-Shot, but her own fully-fledged series looks to be steering Marvel into a most welcome direction.
