Enjoyable until a director summed up his view of Miss Austen's work with the statement "It's all about sex and money". I couldn't believe what I was hearing! So much of what we see from movie makers these days is just that, sex and money. Jane Austen's stories are about good people, not so good people and how the good people can make life better. She wrote about genuine, loving, gracious people finding other genuine loving, gracious people to spend their lives with. Her stories are about how gentle people come to care for and understand each other. How people of long ago lived and the difficulties they had to overcome. We see how their lives were different from ours and how they are, in many ways not so different. To sum up Jane Austen's writings as "It's all about sex and money".....I don't understand how anyone could say that.
