Sabrina Carpenter surprised fans with a "Please Please Please" collaboration with country music legend Dolly Parton just over a month ago. Carpenter released the track as a part of Short n' Sweet's deluxe version, alongside a new black and white music video with Parton as they drive down the road with a man tied down at the back of the pickup track. However, the collaboration might not have occurred if Sabrina had not complied with Parton's rules — one of which includes refraining from using "dirty words."
The Short n' Sweet deluxe edition includes five additional tracks, such as "15 Minutes," "Couldn't Make It Any Harder," "Busy Woman," "Bad Reviews," and the country version of "Please Please Please" featuring the Queen of Country. In an interview with Knox News, the legendary country musician revealed that she gave Carpenter some conditions before she decided to proceed with the collaboration. “Of course, she...

"The greatest love story of all time, set to the greatest music of our time." That's one of the hooks for the upcoming Romeo and Juliet adaptation from Briarcliff Entertainment, Juliet & Romeo. Briarcliff has set May 9, 2025 (Mother’s Day weekend) as the release date for this bold reimagining of arguably William Shakespeare's most popular play. Joining Briarcliff in bringing this visionary film to the big screen are global independent music powerhouses Lakeshore Records and Broadway Records, in partnership with Hero Entertainment and Rainmaker Films. The synopsis for the film, which seems to be part of a proposed trilogy, reads as follows:
"Set in 1301 at the end of Medieval times, theJuliet & Romeofranchise finds our most famous Star-Crossed lovers turning the tides on the history Shakespeare based his own story on, as they reveal the truth to the very future of the Empire. But the biggest twist in this most beloved of tales,...

As a network, FX has built a reputation for producing gritty, compelling dramas that blend tangled family dynamics with the political tensions of their respective worlds, likeThe Americans andSons of Anarchy. In 2014, the network teamed up with Homeland veterans Gideon Raff and Howard Gordon to create Tyrant, a political thriller centered on the complicated and often controversial Al-Fayeed family. Set in the fictional Middle Eastern nation of Abuddin, the series follows Bassam "Barry" Al-Fayeed (Adam Rayner), the American-born son of a tyrannical dictator, who returns to his homeland with his family after 20 years of living in the U.S. in self-imposed exile. However, his return quickly pulls him into a high-stakes political world, tapping into deep-seated familial tensions and setting the stage for a character-driven drama rich with conflict and moral complexity.

The David and Goliath tale gets a new epic retelling in the trailer for Prime Video’s House of David
It’s perhaps the greatest underdog story next to Rocky. Heck, it’s used as a phrase to describe a match-up that seems so unevenly matched. The David and Goliath tale is one of the most popular stories in the Bible. It tells of a normal man who went up against the fiercest warrior in the land in the biggest size difference imaginable. Amazon’s House of David is a series that will retell the story in eight epic episodes. Three episodes will premiere on February 27, with one episode weekly thereafter. The trailer has just been released.

Tyrant’s Realm presents a captivating tribute to PS1-era graphics, featuring low-poly models and shimmering effects that evoke a classic gaming atmosphere.
Visual options such as a Crt filter and a 4:3 aspect ratio contribute to a sense of nostalgia, although the blue tint of the Crt can sometimes be overwhelming. These elements enhance the game’s immersive retro appeal.
The game’s environments, including the grim Torture Pit and the trap-filled Royal Hunting Grounds, enrich its dark fantasy aesthetic. Deteriorating ruins and minimal environmental details amplify immersion, using ambiance to suggest a deep, haunting backstory. This visual narrative aligns well with the game’s unsettling gameplay.
The Core of Combat: Navigating Tyrant’s Realm’s Systems and Strategies
Tyrant’s Realm’s combat revolves around intentional, stamina-based mechanics, capturing the spirit of classic Soulslike games while establishing its own character. Players need to manage their stamina bar, which controls actions like attacking,...

Viewers of the Ravens vs. Texans NFL game got a surprise on Christmas Day: A trailer for Netflix’s “The Night Agent” Season 2.
Gone are the tedious days of Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) sitting next to a dormant phone in the White House basement — and nigh is the day for Night Action now that he’s finally part of the ultra-confidential organization. After successfully saving the President of the United States in Season 1, Peter was tasked with investigating a leak in the C.I.A., but in the Season 2 trailer, his operation appears to have been compromised, and Peter trusts no one — not even Rose (Luciane Buchanan), and certainly not Night Action itself. Season 2 will pick up shortly after Season 1 and is based on the novel by Matthew Quirk.

It’s painful to even type their names in the same sentence, but “Rich Men North of Richmond” singer Oliver Anthony has some thoughts on the landmark Beyoncé album, Cowboy Carter. Those thoughts are uninspired, baseless, and boring, but we’re going to share them nonetheless.
In a lengthy video titled “What I’ve Learned from the Music Industry So Far…,” the singer shared his perspective on systems in Nashville, concert ticket prices, and Beyoncé’s 2024 country LP. “It represents how degenerative our society has become that a song like a Beyoncé version of ‘Jolene’ can come out and anybody actually listen to it and think it’s not just complete trash,” he said, choosing to ignore the fact that Dolly Parton herself more than gave her blessing for Cowboy Carter. Notably, Parton herself appeared on track 23, “Tyrant.”

Anya Taylor-Joy is set to star in and executive produce the limited series “Lucky” at Apple TV+, Variety has learned.

Coincidence? … Maybe, but it’s fortuitous timing nevertheless. Beyoncé is set to perform during the halftime show for the upcoming NFL game between the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens, which will stream exclusively on Netflix on Christmas Day. That just so happens to be right in the middle of final-round Grammy voting. Will it help her finally win top honors from the Recording Academy?
The 67th Annual Grammy Award nominations were announced on Nov. 8, and Beyoncé didn’t just lead the nominations. She crushed records — again. Already the most awarded individual in Grammy history with 32 career wins, this year she racked up another 11 nominations, the most ever for a female artist in a single year, and the most for a single album (“Cowboy Carter”). On top of that, it brought her total number of nominations to 99, which makes her by far the most nominated individual in the awards’ history.

On a recent episode of ABC’s 911, Bold and the Beautiful alum Jennifer Finnigan guest starred with a familiar face—her real-life husband, Jonathan Silverman. They have been together for 20 years and married for roughly 17 years. So, it was a lot of fun to see them play a contentious couple on the hit Ryan Murphy series that moved from Fox to ABC this season.
Divorce 2024 Style
What was fun about this particular guest star appearance was knowing that Finnigan and Silverman were married in real life. In the episode of 911 titled “Confessions,” they were a husband and wife negotiating a tricky divorce. And, of course, it was messy, toxic, and chaotic.
Silverman’s character had hooked up with his attorney. On top of that, every time he sneezed, Finnigan’s character knew he was lying. That was his big tell. Unfortunately, for the husband, that would be his undoing.

One of the best parts of Grammy season is anticipating who will have the biggest haul on nominations morning. Artists who are nominated across the board are the ones who truly defined the year, at least in the industry’s opinion. So who will come out on top? Let’s consider five possibilities.

The Grammy darling has gotten eight or more nominations multiple times in her career, and the 2025 awards should be no exception. She is a surefire contender for the big three, and is likely getting “Spaghettii,” with Linda Martell and Shaboozey, into Best Melodic Rap Performance. The rest will depend on how well country and Americana voters receive “Cowboy Carter.” The album was rejected at the Country Music Association Awards, which could be a bad sign. This is a quick guide on how to beat Diabolus Avades, a mandatory boss the party will face during the main quest: Save the Country. It is worth noting that this boss shares many weaknesses with other bosses that the Protagonist and their friends have defeated early on; however, this doesn’t mean they should get cocky and reckless.
Diabolus Avades is a powerful boss who will not hold back and make the party regret crossing paths with him. Fortunately, like every other boss in the game, it is manageable and players have a fighting chance with the right archetypes equipped.
Where Can You Find Diabolus Avades in Metaphor: ReFantazio? Players should have enough experience to take on a powerful boss like Diabolus Avades before fighting.

Netflix has a long, storied history of canceling shows early on in their runs. The winner of the streaming wars may spend billions of dollars on original movies and TV shows, but letting any of those shows live beyond a few seasons is a rarity. 2019's young adult series "The Society" was one of those shows that was a one-and-done, with the series lasting just a single season. But that wasn't the original plan. So, why was this popular series canceled after only one season?
For those who may not be familiar, "The Society" follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to an exact replica of their wealthy New England town, only with no trace of their parents to be found. The series hailed from Chris Keyser and Marc Webb with a promising young cast led by then-up-and-comer Kathryn Newton.
Originally, Netflix had renewed "The Society" for a second season.

When Beyonce is eligible at the Grammys, you can typically expect her to be one of the most nominated artists of the year. She picked up 10 bids in 2010, and she was up for nine awards in 2017, 2021, and 2023. Altogether she’s tied with her husband Jay-Z for the most Grammy nominations ever (88). That’s a tie she’s sure to break this year with her genre-bending “Cowboy Carter” album, which could get the trailblazing artist up to 12 nominations. If she secures all of them, she’ll tie Michael Jackson (1984) and Babyface (1997) for the most bids in a single year, and bring her all-time tally to an even 100 noms. Here are her submissions:

Director Park Hoon-Jung has gathered quite the cult following with his duology The Witch: Part 1 and Part 2. As I was kindly reminded by one of the commenters on my review of The Tyrant, the 4-part series is part of The Witch universe. While I went into the series completely blind, I’ve since figured out the dots that connect the show to the film, though it isn’t as deep as it might seem. Yes, The Tyrant is part of the same universe as The Witch, which means there are human beings with supernatural powers within the series, and it is likely that the protagonist of 2024 K-drama is from the same lab as Ja-Yoon, i.e., from Dr. Baek’s experiments. Before we move on, this article will contain spoilers for both The Witch films as well as The Tyrant.

South Korean sci-fi thriller, The Tyrant, is a lesson in what not to do while making a limited series. Sure, it’s an action-packed show that keeps giving when you just need it to stop, but what it fails at is establishing its story before it dives into whatever is happening in front of us as viewers. Four episodes of sheer action and violence in a convoluted web of episodes that ends up delivering a really simple story. It comes down to this: all the big nations are creating their own bioweapons, and one guy, Director Choe, decides he wants South Korea to be on par with these other nations. Obviously, America doesn’t like this covert operation and wants this weapon for themselves, but when this handover is happening, things go amiss, and the weapon is lost. The show follows a bunch of different people trying to get to this bioweapon,...

Beyoncé‘s new album Cowboy Carter was represented at the 2024 CMT Music Awards held at Moody Center on Sunday (April 7) in Austin, Tex.
Tanner Adell, Tiera Kennedy, Reyna Roberts and Brittney Spencer all took to the stage to present an award together.
The four country music artists are all featured on Beyoncé‘s cover of “Blackbiird” on her latest album Cowboy Carter.
Tanner also lends vocals to the album’s opening track “American Requiem,” while Tiera, Reyna and Brittney all sing harmonies on “Tyrant.”
On the red carpet earlier in the night, Tanner talked about working on the song and hearing it for the first time.
“You know, I found out, along with the rest of the world, what all of this sounded like and looked like,” she told Billboard. “It was just as much a gift for me as I know it was for everybody else.

In November 2016, at the 50th annual Country Music Association Awards, Beyoncé performed “Daddy Lessons,” her first explicit foray into country music. On the emotionally intimate, vervy album Lemonade, the song felt inspired by the singer’s Southern origins. Onstage, accompanied by The Chicks and a band wielding the full power of acoustic guitars, horns and harmonicas, it became a full-throated declaration — an affirmation of all that came with Beyoncé’s roots in Alabama, Louisiana and Texas.
The backlash to her performance was swift and predictably racist. In a recording of that moment, the camera quickly cuts away from parts of the audience largely unmoved by Beyoncé’s enthusiastic invitation to clap along. On social media, detractors expressed their anger at the musician’s inclusion. A month later, the Recording Academy rejected “Daddy Lessons” as a country entry for the Grammys, setting the stage for a contentious battle about who and...

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter is a landmark provocation that dares the country music establishment to look itself in the eye. Nashville has spent decades marginalizing Black women like Linda Martell and Rhiannon Giddens, and outright ignoring the likes of Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy, and Reyna Roberts. Beyoncé, inspired at least partially by the ugly fallout from her appearance alongside the Chicks at the CMAs in 2016, is now playing a game of chicken with Music Row. Are they really going to ignore one of the most prominent Black artists of the last 20 years when she comes to the gates of their white picket fences? And, if so, how are they going to reconcile that with their insistence that of course we aren’t racist with the fact that Beyoncé has proven that she knows exactly what she’s doing and why.

Judas Priest continue to unveil tracks from their forthcoming album Invincible Shield ahead of its March 8th release date.
“The Serpent and the King” is the fourth single from the LP so far, and it’s another scalding ripper from the British metal legends.
Rob Halford’s falsetto vocals are front and center — yep, he can still hit that vaunted Painkiller register — and the guitar tone sounds like it’s scratching the speakers from the inside. Under the hood, the guitar work and riff arrangements are densely composed — enough for both thrash and prog heads to feast on.
Regarding the album’s musical direction, guitarist Richie Faulkner told Audio Ink Radio that Invincible Shield “is progressive in the sense that it’s not like verse-chorus-verse-chorus-solo-chorus-finish,” likening it to Priest’s ’70s output.
“It’s musical part-verse-musical part,” he added. “It might do a few twists and turns, musically. It veers from the path of it,...

“It’s musical part-verse-musical part,” he added. “It might do a few twists and turns, musically. It veers from the path of it,...

Disney+ has unveiled a slate of Korean originals, as the streaming platform opts for a more targeted strategy in Asia.
Bolstered by successful Korean tentpoles last year like Moving and Big Bet, the streamer has ordered seven new titles to premiere in 2024, in addition to previously-announced shows including Light Shop, from Moving creator Kangfull, and Uncle Samsik, starring Parasite actor Song Kang-ho.
One of the biggest titles in the Disney+ announcement is Blood Free, which stars Ju Jihoon (Kingdom) and Han Hyojoo (Moving). It follows a former bodyguard haunted by the failures of his past. After following several leads, he finds himself recruited to protect the CEO of a controversial lab-grown meat company, who is also a survivor of the fateful attack that changed his life.
Unmasked stars Kim Hyesoo and is set in modern-day Seoul. The series follows a team of investigative journalists who are fighting for their careers after broadcasting a controversial story.

Disney+ is steadily boosting its output of high-end Korean drama. The streaming service on Monday revealed a growing slate of star-driven Korean originals for 2024, building on the momentum achieved last year with the critical and commercial popularity of hit shows like Moving and Big Bet.
Newly announced titles joining the company’s Korean slate include thriller Blood Free, mystery series Unmasked, actioner The Tyrant, crime drama Gangnam B-Side, and a season three renewal of reality show The Zone: Survival Mission. These series add to Disney’s previously announced 2024 tentpole shows Lightshop, created by hit-making webtoon creator turned screenwriter Kang Full, and period drama Uncle Samsik, starring Korean film icon Song Kang-ho (Parasite) in a rare TV series role. Disney says more Korean titles will join its slate throughout the year. (Summaries of the Korean shows unveiled so far are below.)

Judas Priest are getting closer to the release of their Invincible Shield album, out on March 8th. Now, the legendary metal band has released the LP’s latest single, “Crown of Horns.”
The track falls on the melodic side of Priest’s musical spectrum, but still features a blistering guitar solo. The song marks the third single off Invincible Shield, following the previously released “Panic Attack” and “Trial by Fire.”
Judas Priest will take the new tracks on the road this year for a worldwide tour, including a headlining US run in April and May (pick up tickets here).
It took Priest a few years to complete Invincible Shield, with guitarist Richie Faulkner telling Heavy Consequence last May, “We’ve been working on a record for quite a while now. That got halted a little bit because of the Covid lockdowns. We’ve been trying to get that finished.”

Hollywood likes to pretend that it’s in a constant state of self-improvement, and that the days of blackface and Mickey Rooney as Mr. Yunioshi are far in the past. But we aren’t that far removed from Zoe Saldaña playing Nina Simone, FX casting a white British actor as a budding Middle Eastern despot in Tyrant or Catherine Zeta-Jones playing notorious Colombian drug kingpin Griselda Blanco in Lifetime’s Cocaine Godmother.
I hope we can all agree that whatever divine and legal sanctions she deserved for being, by all accounts, quite monstrous at times, Griselda Blanco did not deserve the throughly bizarro accent and makeup job that accompanied Zeta-Jones’ performance in Cocaine Godmother.
If nothing else, Netflix’s six-part Griselda is an adequate representational corrective. Colombian actress Sofía Vergara plays Blanco, with a latex job that doesn’t really make her look like Griselda Blanco, but definitely makes her look like “Not Sofía Vergara.

What's Wrong with Secretary Kim? is one of the most popular K-Dramas out there, but before it turned into one of the highest-rated Korean dramas in cable television history, it was a novel by Jung Kyung-yoon and then later a best-selling manhwa. The manhwa features a love story between the perfectionist boss Lee Young-joon and his secretary, Kim Mi-so, who quits after nine years.
Although this romantic comedy isn't the newest manhwa on the block, it is one of the most popular and a strong example of unusual boss-and-employee relationships. A lot of manhwa are cut from the same cloth, and those who have binged What's Wrong with Secretary Kim? have plenty of options when it comes to comparable reading material.
