With 2017 on the way out our contributors have been looking back at the best the year’s had to offer in terms of video games. There’s no shortage of great games to choose from this year, but we felt these picks were the cream of the crop.
Last week, our contributors broke down their individual top lists for the year in movies, but today, we’ve turned to our gaming crew to highlight the best games of the year. Once again, it’s a difficult list to narrow down, but we forced ourselves to stick to only five choices:

There was definitely no shortage of great games this year, and even a new console (the Switch), to choose from this year. While most of the “big” games were able to meet expectations, some fell short (looking at you Mass Effect: Andromeda), while others exceeded all the hype. Obviously,...

I’ve learned that two of USA Network‘s pilots, drama Horizon and comedy Divide & Conquer, are not going forward. The pilots, both from Universal Cable Prods., are being shopped elsewhere. Horizon was a big swing and a major departure for USA, being a period alien drama. Written by Bridget Tyler, exec produced by The Walking Dead‘s Gale Anne Hurd and directed by Yves Simoneau, Horizon is set during the height of World War II when a secretary at the FBI (Ruth Bradley) becomes the only person standing between Earth and an alien invasion. Penned by Peter Ocko, Divide & Conquer was clearly eyed as a companion to USA’s high-profile acquisition Modern Family. It too is a family comedy, about four children on a path to adulthood and their parents. USA has four other drama pilots, Complications, The Novice, Rush and Sean Jablonski, and one comedy, Love Is Dead,...

At today's Television Critics Association conference, NBC head Bob Greenblatt announced a couple of upcoming projects that may have FEARnet readers salivating.
An updated remake of Rosemary's Baby, based on the Ira Levin novel and originally filmed in 1968 by Roman Polanski, is on track for a four hour miniseries (likely split over two nights, the way they used to air miniseries in the 1980s and early 1990s). The story about a young wife who is convinced that she is carrying the devil's baby, will be set in Paris. Scott Abbott (Queen of the Damned) is working on the script.
Also on the schedule is a new version of The Tommyknockers, based on the novel by Stephen King. Greenblatt was inspired in part by the success of another King property, Under the Dome, which is doing gangbusters on CBS. It is the highest-rated scripted program of the summer season. Nazis, WWII, and … aliens? From Gale Anne Hurd, the producer of “The Walking Dead”, comes USA Network’s “Horizon”, a period sci-fi drama about “a female secretary at the FBI who begins a secretive investigation into files that have been stamped with the codename “horizon.” The mysterious project provides links to the death of her husband and the disappearance of a young girl, and has also – unbeknownst to her – aroused the interest of undercover Nazi spies working in the Us.” Oooh, Nazis in the U.S. during WWII! We all know season one of MTV’s Teen Wolf was much better than season two. Part of the problem was there seemed no clear direction for the characters anymore. All the best parts that made the show so much better in season one, the relationships between Scott and Stiles, Derek and Stiles, Stiles and his dad, Scott and Allison, Stiles and Lydia, Scott and his Mom were pushed to the side lines in favor of a muddle mythology that you knew how was going to end when former Battlestar Galactica actor Michael Hogan arrived in episode one. You knew from the start that he was a prick and unredeemable so it made his mustache twirling more annoying than you would expect.

From the network that gave you “The 4400″. (Which I’ve never seen.) Cable net USA Network has picked up a new sci-fi drama set during World War II called “Horizon” from producer Gale Anne Hurd, one of the producers on AMC’s “The Walking Dead”, and a longtime vet of the genre, with her producing fingers in the likes of “Aliens”, “The Abyss” and the “Terminator” films, among many. “Horizon” is from writer Bridget Tyler: Set during the height of World War II, Horizon centers on a secretary at the FBI who discovers that her husband might have been killed in a battle with a spaceship in the South Pacific. Obsessed with learning the truth, she becomes the only person standing between Earth and an alien invasion. Well, that’s going to be expensive. Especially for a cable network. I wonder why they don’t just make it present-day?...
