Eli Roth's The Green Inferno has found new life at Blumhouse. Originally scheduled to come out last year from Open Road, Roth's cannibal horror film will instead hit the big screen this September courtesy of Blumhouse.

Announced via video by Roth on his Facebook page, The Green Inferno will hit theaters on September 25th.

In horror master Eli Roth’s terrifying new film, a group of college students take their humanitarian protest from New York to the Amazon jungle, only to get kidnapped by the native tribe they came to save: a tribe that still practices the ancient rite of cannibalism, and has a healthy appetite for intruders.”

According to reports, this will be released under Blumhouse label Bh Tilt, along with Universal Pictures and High Top Releasing. The Green Inferno is expected to be released on 1,000 screens...

Exclusive: Entertainment One has brought in veteran TV development and production Gerard Bocaccio as Svp Us Scripted Development. Based in Los Angeles, he will shepherd scripted development for the company, reporting to Michael Rosenberg, Evp Us Scripted Television. “Gerard is a seasoned executive with a breadth of experience that spans all aspects of the development and production process necessary to create groundbreaking television,” said Rosenberg. Bocaccio, who brings in more than 25 years of experience, most recently consulted for Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Prods., helping build the company’s scripted and unscripted TV slate that yielded three series orders – Stranded, Eye Candy and South Of Hell – and for Discovery Channel, playing a key role in launching Discovery’s first scripted series Klondike, which eOne co-produced. Prior to launching his consulting business in 2009, Bocaccio served as president of television at Silver Pictures, Svp Entertainment at FX and Evp Production at The Bubble Factory.

Back in March we learned that Syfy is bringing us the six-hour miniseries "Ascension" later this year, and now word has come as to who will be starring in it. Yes, it mostly sci-fi, but considering the talent involved, we figured you'd want to at least hear about it.

Syfy is reigniting the channel’s traditional long-form scripted programming event for 4th quarter 2014 with the greenlight of the 6-hour series "Ascension," it was announced today by Syfy President Dave Howe. Read on for the details.

Hooray, a space-based miniseries! An “intergalactic mystery”! Syfy today has announced it has given the green light to 6 hour event series Ascension, and even announced it would air starting this November, running through December. It’s been a great few years for horror, and that’s in large part thanks to films like Insidious, which took traditional haunted-house concepts and added a fresh twist to the proceedings. After two excellent installments in that series, with a third scheduled for 2015, it’s clear that screenwriter Leigh Whannel isn’t opposed to continuing the franchise, despite the apparent departure of stars Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson in Insidious: Chapter 2.

In an interview with Crave Online, super-producer Jason Blum revealed that, even after big-screen sequels to Insidious have run their course, the series may not necessarily be over. Talking about the possibility of a TV spin-off focusing on paranormal investigators Specs (Whannel) and Tucker (Angus Sampson), along with the ghost of Elise (Lin Shaye), Blum revealed:

I’d like to do that. I don’t think you can do that while we’re still making movies.

Horror master Jason Blum, producer of the Paranormal Activity and Insidious franchises, continued to build his reality TV portfolio by partnering with unscripted series veteran Mike Darnell on a haunted house reality show for ABC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Blum and Darnell sold the series to recently appointed ABC unscripted head Lisa Berger. Other than its basic description as a reality show about haunted houses, other details about the series remained under wraps. Blum produced found-footage series The River, which ran for 12 episodes in 2012, and Stranded, a reality series from early 2013.

Blumhouse International is Blumhouse Productions' new international sales division, which will handle sales for films that don’t fall under their first-look deal with Universal. A new division to oversee international sales of films for the micro-budget production company including Sinister 2 and Stretch. Their six previous films grossed a combined $450 million International on combined budgets under $25 Million.

It is our pleasure to spread the word about his newest endeavor, the launch of Blumhouse International, a new division to oversee international sales of the company's movies. Bhi has a worldwide distribution and servicing deal with Im Global and the two companies, with Jason Blum in attendance, will introduce the venture to international distributors at the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival and Marche.

Blumhouse International will meet with international distributors on two initial projects in Cannes. Sinister 2 is a sequel to Blumhouse's 2012 $3 million micro-budget hit which grossed over $87 million worldwide. Stretch is a comedy thriller to be directed by Joe Carnahan and produced by Blum and the director. Tracy Falco will serve as executive producer and Leon Corcos as co-producer. Both projects will begin production later in 2013.

The division will handle sales of films outside Blumhouse's first-look deal with Universal. The launch of Bhi builds upon Blumhouse's international success. Six of the company's recent films grossed a combined $450 million foreign on combined budgets of under $25 million.

Blumhouse already has four micro-budget wide-release movies scheduled to come out including its first film for Universal - The Purge with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes which opens on June 7th, 2013, Insidious Chapter 2, the sequel to Insidious with FilmDistrict on September 13th, 2013, Paranormal Activity 5 for Paramount Pictures on October 25th, 2013 and Ghosts for Lionsgate on January 10th, 2014.

Since its launch, Blumhouse has produced more than 30 feature films including the highly-profitable Paranormal Activity franchise, Sinister and Insidious all of which out grossed their budgets on opening weekend. In addition, Blumhouse has a first-look television deal with Lionsgate and is working on both scripted and non-scripted projects. Blumhouse produced Stranded for SyFy, executive produced The River for ABC and is also working on projects with HBO and MTV.
