One of the best documentaries

It is one of the best documentaries and one of the best adaptations of Historien om Denmark. Even the presenter is very good. Hope that there will be coming more adaptations of this program and that every country learn to accept that you can be proud but also proud in both ways the verry right wing and the verry left wing. The CGI is also on point. It makes me a fan that is for sure. You learn from past cultures and eras, even the historical figures and events and Batles. The locations are also berry good. If you wanna watch a good documentary series give this a watch and for the United States here is my advice adapt this series so that the democrats and republicans learn to accept each other here in the country of Belgium the right wing politicians and left wing politicians will learn soon accept each other after this series has ended.

Interesting and well presented

A brilliantly presented history of Flanders that makes you want to know more about our regions, in the style of the best reportage that the BBC, or perhaps Belgian national television in its early days, could produce. Well done. The story is presented in sequences and always linked to the present time, with CGI if needed. The jumps in history are quick but it is to get to the point. The reconstructions are interspersed with interviews. It is very didactic and sometimes funny. A good initiative. Some episodes could be reused by Wallonia, which would reduce the cost of producing the southern version.

Flemish television at its best

Nice educational docu about Flanders (and perhaps even a larger area around it) that reviews the history highlights.

Tom Waes brings this in a fantastic way, were he mingles himself between the re-enactors of the several battles, which delivers the occasional funny moments.

Between the events and the battles, he really managed to find the right historians, who can tell the story in such a way that the viewer can identify with the people and the way live must have been in the past.

This documentary has created some controversy in Belgium between the left and right winged. (to fully understand, you would need some knowledge of the complex Belgian politics). Some left winged people would claim that this was made to create a Flemish feeling of nationalism which would work in favor of the right-wing parties.

In my opinion it does not do so, it is just a short overview of our history, and even Tom Waes himself said in the papers that in no way this was made for some political agenda.

For anyone who has a good interest in history, this docu will be very interesting, as it also explains in certain parts how historians work and what they need to do to gather data from times long past.

A very wonderful historical and documentary serie

Between past and present, The way the history of Flanders was explained and detailed was enjoyable and interesting. It is really a special story 10 episodes that tell the history of Flanders in detail . I am happy to be part of this documentary series. You can also see the development of Flanders through the ages and how it was liberated and became independent. Also the integration and extension of society. The wars that Flanders and the participating countries went through. Historians also document and explain some of the events that Flanders went through. As I mentioned, a distinctive documentary series presented with really enjoyable pictures.
