On par with the first movie

Saw another review talking about the "magic" of the first film and how (basically) this movie is a disgrace to the "good burger" name but... come on.... the first movie wasn't really that great either. Ya im sure I enjoyed it more cause I was a kid and if I let myself be blinded by nostalgia I would hate this movie in comparison but both movies have the same ridiculous plot, silliness, corny acting, and over the top childish humor.

I actually kinda enjoyed watching it even though it definitely doesn't deserve anything above a 6/10 - the first movie had some special charm but let's not pretend it was a masterpiece. I actually expected this movie to be really bad so I went in with low expectations but about halfway through I realized it's actually pretty spot on quality wise when compared with the first movie.

That "special charm" of the first movie probably had everything to do with the time it came out and the fact that I was a kid then and that's the target audience! Sure there were some really memorable scenes from the first one but if I really go back and analyze I can't say it was really thaaat much better than this. I'd say the 1st was 6.5/10 (probably a 9/10 in my kid brain) so only a little bit better - I rewatched it in recent years and remember being really underwhelmed and thinking "this didn't age well" and "this was all so much better in my memory."

Point is... its about what you would expect.

Harmless Fun!

Good Burger 2 took me back in time to the original which was both a good thing and a difficult one. It reminded me how cliche and cheesy the original film was. Good Burger is just like the original but amplify it by 10x. Now don't get me wrong I had a good time with this film as it was harmless and didn't do anything to reinvent the genre. It was good seeing the original cast come back for this one. You can tell they had a good time marking this movie which hopefully rubs off on you. If you did not enjoy the first one at all then please don't bother with this one. Good Burger 2 gets a middle of the road 6 stars out of 10 from me.

So bad

I saw part 1 in theaters when I was 10 years old. Grew up watching that orange VHS and later I got the DVD. The first movie is genuinely funny, charming and full of entertainment. Not a dull moment. This sequel is so painfully boring, cringeworthy and NOT funny. Everything is forced. There was maybe 2 moments of the movie that I even smiled at. I literally did not laugh once. The first movie has me laughing constantly even after all the times I've seen it. This movie felt so forced, I rolled my eyes so many times. It's almost the same plot as the original too. Avoid this awful movie at all costs!!!

Silly and fun

After watching the original one, I was excited for the sequel. I had kept my expectations low as I was not sure about the sequel.

For me, the movie was both silly and fun. The story was simple and childish (which it was meant to be) and story's concept was same as the original, the screenplay was an improvement over the original, the direction was simple and good and the performances were good. The humour was uneven, somewhere you laugh and somewhere the jokes fail to make you laugh.

Overall, it is a childish silly movie which is enjoyable to watch with your friends and family just like the original.

Really boring and not funny at all

I used to love Kennan and Kel when I was a kid, I remember laughing soooo much every time! So I watched this movie expecting I was going to have a good laugh or at least a good time but I just got a big disappointment, I wanted to stop watching the movie after 30min but I kept watching til the end to see if at some point it will turn better but nope it didn't happen, just a waste of time 🙃 I'm guessing certain people might like it (honestly I can't imagine who would like it) but overall I will never recommend this movie sadly, I honestly really expected to like it! :(( after so many years from the first one the can't say they didn't had enough time to be creative and funny 🤣

Welcome back to good burger

If you grew up watching Keenan and kel, All that, and good burger then you will like this movie. Its not going to win any awards but it made me laugh quite a bit with kels stupid antics. Without spoilers there's some epic non good burger cameos that I really appreciated. It's a stupid movie with a whole bunch of stupid jokes based around a really stupid concept in the first place. I really enjoyed it and a firm 3/5 stars is respectable for what it was and could be. It was just great to see both of them dudes back at it and honestly Kel stole the show! This movie was creatively great! So much nostalgia.

A hot mess

I'm a 90's kid I grew up loving "All That", "Kenan & Kel", and the first "Good Burger" movie. This movie started off good and strong, but then it quickly went south.

The film focuses too much on Ed. The pacing gets slowed down and caught up on Ed's over the top jokes for too long. I understand Ed is a bit of a dumb goofy character, but they REALLY upped the "dumb" on this movie.

Although I loved seeing Kenan and Kel back together again as well as some old familiar faces, I will never understand how the writers in this movie thought they created a good final product.

Sequels are usually never as good as the original, but the writers in this movie made SURE this sequel wouldn't be as good.

I really wanted this movie to succeed, but I can't lie to myself. I was really disappointed.

Made with heart for the fans

Look this isn't a perfect flick. If you don't have a fondness for the original it's probably going to be downright silly and not very good.

But it has a ton of heart and nails the overall vibe of its first movie much much better than most sequels that come out 20 years later do. It's clearly made as a labor of love for the fans and for the performers to enjoy themselves and catch up with friends.

It's obvious nobody got paid massive amounts of money for this - in fact the budget may be even lower than the original. But who cares! The jokes are still the same, the actors are still bringing it and enjoying themselves, and the whole thing is just like the first - a fun way to spend 90mins laughing at simple jokes and watch kenan/kel absolutely kill it.

They're great in the leads and it's like nothing has changed between them despite everyone being quite a bit older. Just go in knowing its very simple and cheap, but also tries its hardest to keep up the spirit of the original.

It's not awful, but not the best

This movie still has a lot of the charm from the original, mainly in the dynamic between Ed and Dexter, which is what brings it up to this point. On the other hand, a lot of the plot points feel a little forced. It seems like it is trying too hard to appeal to a younger audience than to focus on a plot, which severely degrades the movie. It is also a lot less down to Earth, which takes out some of the charm that the first one had, which felt at least realistic to an extent. Overall, it holds a candle to the original in some ways, yet falls flat in many others, making it much more of a new business venture than an act of fan service to people who love the original.

For the Fans

The best way to describe this film is definitely "for the fans".

Chances are 26 years after the first film, that most of the audience will be older now, but it's chance to relive nostalgia for those, and make them feel like children again. It still contains lots of silly jokes. In my opinion, it's not as good as the first, but considering how low my hopes were for this film since the actors are older, also using a different director, I was pleasantly surprised.

Lots of surprise collaborations such as Yung Gravy, Kai Cenat, Mark Cuban, Pete Davidson etc which made the film feel like a fever dream at some points.

The film does seem to follow a similar plot to the last one, but still retains that "stupid" humor while managing to be somewhat new.

If you're thinking of watching this film without watching the other, don't bother. Watch the first film, then this or you probably won't get it. This film is not to stand out or make any marks, it's simply for the fans.

Embarrassing movie

I enjoyed the first good burger from watching all that on Nickelodeon. Good burger 2 was a disappointment. Too many stale recycled jokes from the 90s. Kel wore a ton of pancake makeup to hide his age for the ed character. Ed's dumb humor was over the top and just wasn't funny.

Ed seemed like he was on the autism spectrum. Which is never to made be fun of. Jokes that were funny in the 90s don't always translate to the modern age.

The character development was flimsy. Even humorous character can grow or learn something over a decade.

Actors were too old to play the roles. Everyone involved in the production of this mess should be embarrassed.

good kind of bad

This movie can be seen very similarly to the first movie. It is goofy, the characters borderline cartoony, the "vibes" are always present. The main cast hasn't lost its charm, they are still playing off each other and creating just dumb hilarity. It is a good "dumb" movie that you can a good time watching if you do not care much for plot, character, real development or cohesion. The first movie in that regard was way more consistent in telling a narrative with somewhat real stakes and payoff. The underdog story of a burger shops rise to fame thanks to a magical sauce. This movie's plot is mainly there to move sketch like scenes along for the audience to laugh.

Still the sketches are good enough, it is dumb humor, it is humor you are ashamed of admitting made you laugh but it makes you laugh nonetheless.

Meh original is so much better!

Doesn't have the magic Good Burger 1 from the 90's had and shouldn't have made a 2nd one in the first place although I guess there's good stuff Kel Mitchell and Kennan Thomas is a gem! Crazy how Flula Borg is in this I've seen him in the Bumper in Berlin yesterday. Quite silly that's for sure, I wonder if Kel is deliberately slow nice to see him doing ok. Strange how the sequel wasn't made a few years after the first one that would've made more sense. I usually enjoy most things I watch but I'm fairly disappointed in this adaptation. Much smaller percentage of the charm except the colors are great otherwise hard to enjoy the hulk of the movie.

"Nostalgic Sequel Struggles: A Melody Misfit and Character Conundrum in the 90s Revival"

Crafting a sequel to a beloved 90s film in today's landscape is undoubtedly challenging. Regrettably, this attempt falls short, as characters seem further simplified and the music, although well-intentioned, feels like an ill-fitting accessory to the film-a bit like worn-out socks with new shoes. The narrative is marred by numerous plot holes, leaving viewers perplexed about certain developments.

While the sequel's timing may be considered overdue, the return of childhood favorites is a nostalgic nod. However, the execution disappoints, deviating from what made the original iconic. A shift towards more restaurant scenes and a reduction in musical elements would have maintained the essence of the original, preserving its charm and authenticity. Though this review reflects personal expectations, it acknowledges the challenging task of breathing new life into a classic while honoring its roots.

Good Burger 2

'Good Burger' has become a cult classic, so I was dubious when I heard there was to be a very belated sequel. Could the magic be recreated?

I am happy to report therefore that this is a fun sequel. It's got some way to go before it topples the first one, but it succeeds because it doesn't try to do anything more than just entertain.

This is a very silly, entertaining film. It has lots of lovely moments, and it's just a pleasure to see Kenan and Kel back working together.

It doesn't matter that the plot doesn't hold up to much scrutiny, or that the cameos don't really land over here in the UK, it's just enormous fun.

A big pleasant surprise.

The classic combo returns

The unexpected sequel to the movie Good Burger (1997) that was based on the skit from the 1994 Nickelodeon show called All That; the first movie Good Burger (1997) was ok but even though it had some good comedy in it, it was not that funny despite actors Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson giving good performances, and now we have the sequel I was not expecting. I thought Good Burger 2 (2023) was a bit better than the first but not completely better; the return of the lead actors Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson was nice to see back in the roles, there were a few more things I found funny, and despite there still being issues, I liked how things have changed since the first film.

Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson once again as Ed and Dexter are still good in the roles, and they work well together; Ed is still not that smart like before, but he has a family, runs Good Burger, and calls all the shots to what happens to Good Burger building which I found interesting for the character and how much he changed since the first. Dexter is now known for inventing things that does not turn out well, which leads him going back to working at Good Burger with his friend Ed; I thought it was interesting that his character went to inventing things with him having a corporation before he loses it because of money issues, along with him helping Ed to get back Good Burger after an incident accidentally selling it to a big corporation. Plus, all the performances are over the top like the first film, but it is not too in your face, along with the new workers at Good Burger being different but like how the older workers acted.

The villains involve Jillian Bell and Lil Rel Howery who wants Ed to sign over Good Burger with his special sauce to them and have robots that all look like Ed to take orders, make the food, and serve it, while making the original Good Burger workers unemployed; Jillian Bell's character has a reason for doing this I will not spoil, but it connects to the villain of the first movie, and Lil Rel Howery's character is the one that convinces Ed and Dexter to sign over Good Burger, both giving over the top performances but not bad ones. The comedy in the movie was funny mostly because I did not know what to expect, but some of the movie felt like side stories or like an episode of a show that does not connect much to the plot, and though there were quite a few funny moments, there were still comedy moments that did not fully work but they were not painful to watch.

A lot of people who like the original first movie will like this sequel, along with them liking that they get to see Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson work together again; Good Burger 2 (2023) had comedy that more often but not the whole movie, with good performances from Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson, and some development of the characters years later. I thought the first movie Good Burger (1997) was ok with a little bit of the comedy working, so that is why I thought Good Burger 2 (2023) was a little bit better, but not by much, because it is like the first movie in a way with the callbacks. If you were not a fan of the first movie, then you will not like this movie, but if you are a fan of the first film, then you will like this sequel that took 26 years to come out.

"Good Burger 2": A Cinematic Misadventure into Forgettable Mediocrity"

This terrible sequel, featuring Pete Davidson and Kenan Thompson, plummets into the abyss of mediocrity, delivering a lackluster narrative riddled with cringe-worthy moments. With a cast that struggles to salvage an incoherent script, "Good Burger 2" becomes a forgettable venture, a disappointing echo of its cult classic predecessor. As the Roman Empire faltered under the strain of external pressures, "Good Burger 2" unwittingly mirrors this decline, stumbling into a narrative void where humor becomes a mere caricature of its former self. The film's thematic shallowness, coupled with its bewildering cast choices, underscores a disquieting trend in contemporary Western civilization. In its retreat into the trivial and the vapid, the movie becomes a harbinger of a potential collapse into a cultural abyss, reminiscent of Rome's eventual fall as it crumbled under the weight of external and internal pressures.

Disappointing

Good Burger being a childhood favorite of mine, I couldn't help but feel excited upon hearing that there would be a sequel to the then-25-year-old-film. Needless to say, I was left disappointed by this lame addition to the series.

While nowhere near a masterpiece, the first film is at least consistently funny and entertaining. It also has serious messages about personal responsibility. This film manages to be only occasionally funny. Most of the jokes are just recycled from the first film and told in a clunky manner. The first film, while a bit ridiculous, did have a sense of believability to it; this one pushed the absurdism way too far to have any semblance of realism. The message at the end of the film is a trite story on friendship that's been done a million times before and had no real impact. It seems they tried to pad the plot with 1,000 celebrity cameos, which to somebody's surprise did not, in fact, improve the movie. Also, why did Dexter seem so surprised at Ed's antics? They've been friends for like thirty years.

If the IMDb rating system had decimals I'd give this one a 5.5, but I'll round it up to a 6 since I'm feeling generous and some scenes did make me laugh.
