Horribly boring

There are boring movies and then there are painfully boring movies. But this one tops even that - it is horribly boring.

Bad script, bad acting, horrible directing, outright stupid.

Rare author film from Bosnia

As film it is decent, maybe leaving things to be desired. It is only 80 minutes and some plot points don't get resolved in the most satisfying way, but neither does in life. Silence in the face of imminent death of the loved one is deafening. You never manage to say everything or resolve all the issues especially if the shadow of recent traumatic changes lurks above you. In the end survivors become disfunction incarnated. It is uncompromising author's film, wonderfully shot by genius Romanian DoP Oleg Mutu and the only collaboration of two cinema legends that, unfortunately, will never happened again, Mira Furlan and Branko Djuric.

A Dysfunctional Movie

The concept of family dynamics and dysfunctionality stemming from it have been well explored, and the author wrongfully focuses on disease as the main (and perhaps the only) culprit of family dysfunction in this particular case. It is adding insult to traumatic injury, leaving no room for recovery. On the other hand, severe enmeshment, manipulation, overstepping boundaries, entitlement, betrayal of trust, and invalidation are the hallmarks of dysfunctional families and usually an implication of a more serious problem. Now, if someone wants to believe that thinking of their cousin's "budding" sexuality is somehow artistic, then this is indeed a rare Bosnian gem. I would not be surprised that the author himself believes that the movie deserves 10 stars, but we can agree to disagree, and "Berina's" opinion is equally valid.

In addition, considering Berina's peculiar looks and a very specific clothing style, I would warmly recommend examining the issue of Autism Spectrum and how it presents in female children and youth.
