HBO has released a new trailer and set a premiere date for The Sympathizer — a date will allow the show to just make it under the wire for Emmy eligibility.
The limited series, based on Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, is part spy thriller and part satire. It follows the Captain (Hoa Xuande), a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy through the final days of the Vietnam War and in his new life as a refugee in Los Angeles, where he learns that his spying days aren’t over. It’s scheduled to premiere April 14, which would put its seventh and last episode on May 26, a few days before the eligibility window for the 2024 Emmys closes.
Ordered to series in July 2021, The Sympathizer is a co-production of HBO, A24 and Rhombus Media, in association with Moho Film and Cinetic Media. Don McKellar (Sensitive Skin, Last Night) and Park Chan-wook (Oldboy...

The Tate Taylor-created Fox TV series Filthy Rich not only reps Kim Cattrall’s first network TV series, but her first as a producer after being an Ep on the BBC black comedy Sensitive Skin.
The TCA press corps at the Langham Huntington were quite intrigued by Cattrall’s producing duties on the series to which the actress responded that it “brings a voice to the show.”
Filthy Rich is a southern Gothic family drama in which wealth, power and religion collide – with outrageously soapy results. When the patriarch of a mega-rich Southern family, famed for creating a wildly successful Christian television network, dies in a plane crash, his wife Margaret, played by Cattrall, and family are stunned to learn that he fathered three illegitimate children, all of whom are written into his will, threatening their family name and fortune. Taylor’s immediate go to for the wife part was Cattrall.

Kim Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon spent years combating rumors that there was tension between the four of them while filming their Emmy-winning HBO series and its two big screen sequels. But a source close to production tells People the actresses had conflicts and consciously kept that from fans.
“They genuinely did care about each other and worked very hard to protect their relationship,” the insider says. “Every relationship has its ups and downs and they worked very hard to protect fans from moments that weren’t ups.”

Kim Cattrall has moved on from Sex and the City, and she thinks fans should too.
The 61-year-old actress responded to a fan on Twitter Friday who questioned her yet again about the dashed plans for Sex and the City 3 — which reportedly fell apart after Cattrall said she didn’t want to reprise her role as powerhouse PR maven Samantha Jones in the long-awaited sequel.
“So I’ve seen you doing interviews on ageism yet I see you on saying you’re too old to play Samantha?” the fan named Josh wrote Cattrall, questioning her on a recent comment she left on Instagram.

It's not that Kim Cattrall isn't game for a third Sex and the City, but the actress -- known for her Golden Globe-winning role as Samantha Jones on the hit HBO dramedy -- is nearly 20 years older than she was when the show first premiered in 1998.
Now 60, Cattrall says her interests lie in projects about women her age that aren't being made. Since 2014, she’s been co-producing and starring in the HBO Canada drama Sensitive Skin, playing Davina Jackson, a 50-something woman who struggles with aging. Cattrall also plays Emily French, a glamorous, well-off widow exploring the emotional cost of being a middle-aged woman in BBC One’s adaptation of the Agatha Christie short story The Witness for the Prosecution, premiering in the U.S. Monday, Jan. 30 on Acorn TV.
In a chat with Et, Cattrall opens up about taking on parts that "dispel" female convention, producing roles women that she says Hollywood isn't and the possibility...

When you talk to Kim Cattrall, there’s one question that undoubtedly gets asked: Will we see another Sex and the City revival?
Though Samantha Jones’s on-screen alter ego isn’t ruling it out entirely, she recognizes there are a few roadblocks standing in their way — namely, finding a story (and the time!) almost a decade after the last film wrapped.
“The hardest thing is, what would the story be?” Cattrall told People. “It’s been seven, eight years since we wrapped the last movie. Can we get everybody together? We’re all sort of scattered now.”

Kim Cattrall has revealed that she has no intention of seeing Fifty Shades of Grey, arguing that the movie's male lead Jamie Dornan does not look enough like a man.

But an actor fulfilling her red-blooded manly request is Calvary actor Gleeson.
"Now, if he were Brendan Gleeson - well, there's a little something going on there, you know, the twinkle in the eye..."

Looking back at the cinematic calendar for 1994 and the quantity of modern classics released within those 365 days is staggering. Pulp Fiction, Four Weddings And A Funeral, Forrest Gump… all mainstream hits that enraptured both audiences and critics. If you brush aside the popular chaff you’ll find a handful of genre gems; in particular, Roland Emmerich’s underrated sci-fi flick, Stargate.
Emmerich, currently gearing up to relaunch his blockbuster franchise Independence Day, is hard at work on simultaneously kickstarting the Stargate brand. The in-development movie – which is heralded as the beginning of a new trilogy – has now found its writers. According to a report from THR, Emmerich appears to be employing those with whom he’s already familiar. Nicolas Wright and James A. Woods, who helped ID2 land the greenlight thanks to their script, are now on board to pen the first Stargate instalment.
