A Gem Of A Film

I watched this film while visiting Indonesia a few weeks ago. I was skeptical at first because I never heard of it. But I am glad I watched it because it's a really good film with a unique premise. With a wacky high-concept and a stellar ensemble cast, this movie takes the well-worn slasher trope and infuses it with a fresh, balletic twist.

The film's direction by Jeff Knite is slick and stylish, ensuring that the action scenes are well-choreographed and the blood splatter looks viscously authentic. Despite its conventional setup, "The Omicron KIller" manages to keep the audience engaged with its quick pace and laugh-out-loud humor.

It also has the beautiful Bai Ling in it, who is wonderful as Nurse Nancy. I highly recommend this gem of a film.

A Bizarre, Confusing Experience

The Omicron Killer was an odd experience. I honestly didn't realize it was intended to be a comedy until about 20 minutes into the movie. But what kind of comedy? It seems to be wanting to satirize parts of the COVID pandemic, while other times it's a screwball comedy. What it isn't, is a dark comedy, which might have served it better.

The movie begins in mid 2020 with the killing of a serial killer who's been dubbed, "The COVID Killer". For reasons unknown, he had become something of a celebrity and now a small cult of devil-worshippers is conducting rituals at his grave to resurrect him. Jump to 2021 and there's a copycat killer murdering random people called "The Omicron Killer". Haha, oh I see, like the Omicron Variant...bet you forgot about that. He's sort of a vigilante, but also just a psychopath. Like any slasher, he wears a mask, but it's a disposable surgical mask. Okay. The rest of the movie is kind of about a group of bumbling detectives who try to catch him, even though everyone seems to know who he is already.

The pacing and editing is confusing with weird side plots and scenes that are never resolved or explained. There's a group of children who want to stop the Omicron Killer themselves, goofball TV newscasters who try to explain what's happening, a hospital nurse who is inexplicably attracted to the killer, a doctor who seems insane and I'm not even sure if he was a doctor. A lap dance with someone...I forget if he was a cop or something. There are TWO pairs of buddy cops. One pair is cartoonishly silly, while the other pair is by-the-books. Oh, and the chief is the mom of one of the cops. There are not-so-subtle nods to Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th that feel shoehorned in.

If all that sounds exhausting, it kind of is. Strangely, about an hour into the film, I started to understand that this might have been the intention. Just to make a silly movie with minimal plot that's meant to be a ridiculous party film. Maybe?

On a more positive note, the practical effects were pretty good, with some decent crowbar kills. Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp) plays the cult leader and brings her usual boisterous energy. It's always fun to see where Felissa pops up.

I'm a huge supporter of indie passion projects and hope Jeff Knite, the writer/director/actor of Omicron Killer continues to make movies his way.

I suspect this may have begun as a story written to satirize the pandemic, but a whole bunch of other ideas got thrown into the mix and made it a bit unfocused. Comedy is a very personal thing; unfortunately, not much here amused me other than the confusing nature of what I was watching. I have a feeling it will resonate with a certain audience. Put it on in the background of a party and I guarantee it will bring people together who will love the experience. Bring an open mind and plenty of weed.

Genuinely a good slasher movie

The funny thing is I knew this movie was going to be tons of fun by the simple fact that this has to be one of the corniest premises for a slasher flick. I was not disappointed. Now realistically this is a 8.5 movie. It's well done for what it is but its still nothing close to amazing cinema but I'm giving it the 10 stars because I loved the entire cast. I was expecting it to be another trash slasher film like many other movies in recent years, but this movie actually surprised me in a good way. I thought the kills were pretty brutal and just overall is a fun movie to watch. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes horror or slasher films in general.

Excellent! From A Women's Point Of View

I am a 40 year old women and I thoroughly enjoyed this film. OMG!! I love it when a movie studio understands the task at hand and delivers. To make a simple movie that is both enjoyable and damn well written to perfection. This movie did not have a multi-million dollar budget but it delivered. This movie is worth your time and if more movies like this make a comeback then movie audiences will do the same. They didn't focus on just killing weak women in distress, though there was some of that. The killer targeted people who picked on him. It's actaully quite sad how they treat him.. But he gets his revenge, Lol. THANK YOU SHADOW FILMS.

Give adrenaline rush of fear

Horror fans who enjoy graphic violence and chilling atmospheres will surely enjoy every second of "The Omicron Killer". The film does not shy away from violence and brutality but instead uses it to create a thrilling and gripping viewing experience. From brutal murder scenes to intense moments of tension, "The Omicron Killer" fulfills all the expectations of horror fans looking for an adrenaline-filled and chilling viewing experience.

Despite the sleepless nights that would undoubtedly follow, I couldn't deny the thrill of the experience. The adrenaline rush of fear and excitement had left me craving more, eager to dive back into the twisted world of the thriller horror genre. It was a rollercoaster ride of emotions that I would gladly take again and again.

Horror for Adults

This film is for grown ups that want to watch a real movie. I say that because, this film actually has a story to tell and is not just about killing people in new and disgusting ways

With a captivating storyline and tense horror, "The Omicron Killer" offers a perfect blend of mystery and suspense. From start to finish, viewers are immersed in a dark and thought-provoking atmosphere. I watched it at the Film Noir Cinema Brooklyn Premiere with a packed audience and it was worth it. The audience loved it just as much as I did and that made the experience that much better.

Great film and an even greater theatrical experience.

Fun Slasher Flick

I normally avoid modern scary movies, but this one was perfect. I initially wrote this off as cheese. Boy was I wrong. Incredible combination of creative, suspenseful, gory, campy, and fun. My teenage son bullied me into going, and even though I was creeped out, it was really good. If you follow suspense/horror you CAN'T MISS THIS. Outstanding acting/directing and a very good plot line, I'll be watching it again. It begs "another one" to start, but finishing nicely. A overall great and suspenseful movie. It reminded me of Scream. Not for the faint of heart! The movie was a littler gory but no where near other movies I've seen like Terrifier 1 and 2. A+

Loved this movie!

Lokithepsycho needs to get a life. This film was Awesome! I haven't seen a good slasher in a while , but this hit the bullseye. From the first several minutes of action ( I loved it ) to the blood and gore to the creative multiple slaughtering's and having people dressed as a Cults trying to resurrect the ??? (can't say) , it was wonderful . Who isn't wanting to kill someone for bothering your Kit Kat walk . Thank you for making The Omicron Killer enjoyable . And for the sour apples who complained about this movie that it wasn't realistic or didn't make sense , it's a MOVIE , people !! It's for entertainment purposes only . It doesn't have to be realistic or make sense , if that's what you're looking for go watch a documentary or true crime shows . Don't try to ruin it for the rest of us . We're trying to get away from reality for a few minutes . I hope there's a spin off of Krazy Klowny.

A Bloody Good Time!

Best horror movie of 2024.. so far. The plot was great and connected to the opening.

-plot (great) -story (great) and fresh -kills and brutality (amazing) -chase scenes, there were only 2-3 but amazing -killer (iconic) Acting (good)

A twisted, blood curdling new horror classic that didn't disappoint. I absolutely loved watching this body-slashing big screen phenomena 3 times in the cinema, and it's one horror movie not to be missed!!

As a huge slasher fan I am stunned at how amazing this movie was. A perfect mix of gore and 'scream' whilst being its own film. Amazing amazing directing and producing. Perfect slasher film with a few laughs too.

Very Proud Of What My Team Accomplished

I am the director of this film and I'm not rating this film high just because it's my baby. Because if I did not love the film or didn't think it came out as well as I wished, I would not be here rating the film and commenting. I did not make this film by myself. If I did not have the immensely talented cast & crew to help guide me & give their creative input, this film would not be as great as it is. We also had help from the cities of Amsterdam & Johnstown. They let us use their streets and facilities. Everyone brought their A Game, and we ended up with a film that I am really proud of. Like Stan Lee use to say.. Excelsior!

What Makes A Killer?

This film asks that question and most certainly answers it.. Society. This man who later in the film, and now forever, will be known as The Omicron Killer, gets dealt a wrong hand in life. Literally everyone in the film picks on him and treats him horribly. He's like a punching bag that everyone takes out there problems on. If i had to compare this film to any other film, it would be FALLING DOWN with Michael Douglas. Both films depict a man that is fed up with the world, and decide to take matters into there own hands. FALLING DOWN is a little more subtle in it's approach, but the message is the same. Excellent film that leaves lots of room for a sequel or two.

Truly Great Slasher!

One of the best slashers in years, it brings new twists, and I spent the whole movie wondering will they catch the Omicron Killer. Paugh Shadow does a standout performance. The start of the movie was so cool, it shows how the original killer got killed and who did it. I don't even blame the copycat killer for killing. Everyone treats him like sh-t, even little kids and his doctor, Dr. Frueger, whose a real prick. I wanted to kill him myself. Overall a great and interesting watch that will hold a place for years to come. I believe this will start a new franchise. I look forward to sequels and Krazy Klowny.

A step above regular horror movies

This movie was really good. "Low budget" doesn't mean bad. More entertaining than most Hollywood films recently released. I didn't fall asleep watching this like I have watching other multi million dollar productions. Anyone just making complaints about this film either 1) didn't watch it 2) just want to hate someone that made something because they never made anything 3) have no idea what a good film is 4) watched it but just looked for anything negative instead of what story was being told and all the Easter eggs left for the viewer to discover.

I watched this movie when I heard it was coming out because so many "critics" were saying one thing but then gave it a low rating. It didn't add up. I watched this movie twice in upstate ny and I am glad I did. I was correct. These so called "critics" aren't making any sense. You can tell after watching this film that they liked it but it hurts them to admit it or that they never watched the movie and just want to seem edgy and "funny". Which the movie has way more funny lines and it is a good mixture of real life. It almost seems as though it's a real story with elements of imagination.

If the name of the film makes you squeamish you don't even like horror films and shouldn't be making a review. Someone wrote there are not enough kills. Over 10 and counting isn't enough? And these kills looked real. You wonder if anyone actually got hurt in the making of this movie they look and sound so realistic. The story alone kept me riveted because I could relate and even sympathize with the "killer". Think Falling Down meets (Friday the 13th/Halloween) you pick one. And there's a plot and side plots that bind this movie together. Nothing feels wasted.

Now let's discuss the killer. Not one word uttered yet he said tons just with facial expressions and eye movement. This alone with the kills gives this movie at least a 7 and then everything else just makes it better. People focusing on this actors weight because they can't find anything else to ridicule about his performance speaks volumes again about how much hate is in their hearts. They should be ashamed and that goes to the story as well. They hate this movie because it exposes who they are inside. That makes sense. Most people don't like the ugly about themselves and lash out when they see it in their face.

I saw this movie twice and probably will see it in the theater again before it comes to streaming because I know I didn't catch everything the first two times. I rarely watch a movie more than once. So that should indicate how good this movie is. Perfect? No not at all. There are some parts that I wouldn't have put into this movie. But definitely worth seeing especially if you claim to like horror/thrillers.

The Macabre has been summoned

The "Omicron Killer" movie delivers a thrilling and suspenseful experience as a copycat killer goes on a murderous spree, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats. Bai Ling's portrayal of nurse Nancy adds depth and intrigue to the story, while Felissa Rose's involvement brings a sense of familiarity to fans of classic slashers. Lynn Lowry was brilliant and such an amazing talent.

This film captivates audiences with its nostalgic essence, reminiscent of old-school slasher movies that keep you guessing until the very end. The tension and excitement build with each scene, making it a must-watch for fans of the genre.

Overall, "Omicron Killer" is an amazing movie that successfully pays homage to the classic elements of slashers while delivering a fresh and engaging story. If you're a fan of suspenseful thrillers with a touch of nostalgia, this film is sure to impress.

Way Better Than Expected

Production & gore was better than expected. Several scenes had me flinching. A festive bloody whodunnit. Not a corny predictable teen horror. Way better than I thought. It was really good it got right into the killing parts & it wasn't dull the movie literally kept you on the edge of your seat & to me it was like another scream & I love scream. In the beginning, you feel like you should hate it, but it grows on you and you're glad it went the way it did. Took a nice dark turn, and had scenes that you couldn't help but laugh at. That Healy is a howl. He's so dumb but in a lovable way, like Mr. Magoo, LOL.

A campy, polished, refreshing slasher gem

The Omicron Killer is full of mystery, suspense, self-awareness, smarts, and gruesome kills. This spectacle solidified that Jeff Knite has what it takes to direct horror cinema. I sometimes forget that the slasher sub-genre can rarely be "elevated horror" or master classes like Psycho (1960), Peeping Tom (1960), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Black Christmas (1974), Halloween (1978), Sleepaway Camp (1983), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), Child's Play (1988), Candyman (1992), & Scream (1996). As an avid horror fan, this is the best film of 2024. This amazing mash-up of "Friday The 13th" & "Halloween" made Hallowen Ends look like amateur hour. Jeff Knite's "The Omicron Killer" deserves all of the collective praise from critics and audiences. I am thankful that we finally have a new masterpiece added to the horror library that will age like fine wine.

Old School Slasher With A Twist

Dive into this horror flick that's a total throwback to those crazy, blood-soaked classics. It's like a blast from the past, but with a fresh, modern vibe. This movie pays respects to the old-school scarefests by mixing gallons of gore with outrageous scenes. What makes it special is how it knows it's a bit over-the-top yet still kinda serious. They use old-school effects that make all the blood and guts feel real. It's like a trip down memory lane, but with a cool new spin-a creepy, fun tribute that feels both familiar and excitingly different. Light an L and sit back and enjoy one helluva ride.

The Omicron Killer is misunderstood

This guy can't catch a break. He's almost the hero of the story. Almost everyone in the film picks on him. No wonder he goes crazy and wants to kill everyone. And he has no preference. He's very diversified. He kills anyone.. LOL. I loved this movie! I did think the first scene was a perfect recap, and some of the deaths were so realistic, especially the first guy. This movie is not for people who like gore, because the kills are more realistic than cartoony gore like Terrifier. Omicron would rip Art The Clown in half like paper toilet. Overall I thought it was great! Definite recommend to Slasher Fans.

This is the real "In A Violent Nature"

I watched the film "In A Violent Nature", and was extremely disappointed. They hyped that film as the first slasher film from the killer's point of view, but I didn't think they meant literally. That whole movie was filmed from behind the killer, of him walking around. It was like watching someone play the most boring videogame ever. This film actually shows you why The Omicron kills from his perspective and mind set. Everyone in the story treats this man badly, maybe it's a metaphor for how we treat each other in real life nowadays, I don't know, I tend not to think too much into sh-t. My point is, this is a great film that deserves to be praised.
