In the scene where Karl with a K is helping Norman Reedus clean up what is presumably a dead hooker, Karl has a crossbow draped across his back; paying homage to Reedus's role on AMC's The Walking Dead (2010), in which his character primarily uses a crossbow to dispose of zombies.
Chris Pine suggested his character arrive wearing a jockstrap and a tiger backpack. "He likes playing freaks." Joe Carnahan acknowledge.
