The Twisted Doll (2024)

Trivia

The Twisted Doll

Edit
The first TV show from critically acclaimed writer-director Andrew de Burgh.
Heavily inspired by notable thriller films including "I Saw the Devil", "Fatal Attraction", "Oldboy", "Drive" and "Get Out".
This marks the third collaboration between writer-director de Burgh and composer Elezeid, with previous works including the 2015 psychological thriller film "Just One Drink" (which scored a 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes) and the 2020 abstract sci-fi film "Journey Beyond the Universe".
Despite being a psychological thriller at it's core, in order to create a fully immersive world to take the audience on an emotional rollercoaster, in addition to classic thrillers films like "Drive", "Oldboy, "I Saw the Devil", "Get Out", "Fatal Attraction" and "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle", de Burgh drew upon a number of cinematic influences, including "Inception", "Joker", "Halloween", "Interstellar", "Philadelphia", as well as the video game "L.A. Noire" and the music video for the 1995 Robert Miles single "Children".
When initially envisioning a soundtrack for the show, writer-director de Burgh wanted a mostly synthwave score which is one of the reasons he offered the job to previous collaborator Elezeid, a musical artist well known for music in the synthwave genre. However, during discussions at the start of post-production, de Burgh and Elezeid decided on a deeply varied soundtrack for the show, encompassing a variety of genres, including, but not limited to, jazz, 90's trance, synthwave, Spanish guitar music, romantic piano music, orchestral music, Italian music, horror music and 90's action film music.
