Since 2016, the young cast members of Netflix's Stranger Things have impressed audiences with their heartfelt performances, which means there is no excuse for overlooking the actors' other amazing projects. Over the course of nearly ten years, the Duffer Brothers have crafted four (going on five) seasons of their sci-fi TV series, Stranger Things. Along with the 1980s nostalgia and thrillingly dark plot, the show is a success because of Stranger Things' talented ensemble cast. From icons like Winona Ryder to newcomers like Millie Bobby Brown, the show offers something for everyone.
Generally, the cast of Stranger Things is split up into two parts: the adult cast and the young cast. Stranger Things' young cast includes Finn Wolfhard as Mike, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Noah Schnapp as Will, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas, and Sadie Sink as Max. Most depictions of the Peanuts franchise focus on a few key notes. Charlie Brown and Snoopy appear other gang members take part in a beloved running gag, and a holiday or two is usually involved. In the comic strip, they often have adventures in the snow, suffer in their classrooms, or play baseball while rain pours down from above. While creator Charles M. Schulz was a genius cartoonist, 50 years of working on the same strip meant that he always needed to remain able to fall back on what worked. Character dynamics and continued gags were at the root of that.

New Year's Day will be a great time to revisit a beloved Peanuts classic. Originally released in 1977, Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown is resurfacing on a new streaming home at the start of the new year.
On Jan. 1, Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown will be made available to stream on Paramount+. For subscribers of the Paramount+ service, this will allow anyone who hasn't seen the classic animated film to finally give it a chance. As this story is not tied to a specific holiday, unlike many Peanuts specials, it tends to be overlooked in favor of specials like A Charlie Brown Christmas getting watched annually by fans. As a quality animated film, the 1977 movie may get a chance to shine again on its own by getting a new streaming home.

Ready to enter a new “Ice Age?”
Disney has announced that a sixth “Ice Age” film, the first proper installment in the franchise since 2016’s “Ice Age: Collision Course,” will arrive in theaters in 2026. And what’s more, original cast members Ray Romano, John Leguizamo and Queen Latifah are set to return. (It’s unclear if Denis Leary will be back; let us pray.)
The news comes out of D23 Brazil, the first South American version of the Disney fan convention that had previously been held at the Anaheim Convention Center across the street from Disneyland.
One of the most successful animated franchises in history, the series has amassed more than $6 billion over those original five movies.
One of the bigger question marks surrounding a sixth “Ice Age” is who will be animating the feature. Famously, the earlier films were done by Blue Sky Studios, an animation studio in Greenwich,...

I had low expectations for Monster Summer. Based on the trailer, it comes across as a Goosebumps and Stranger Things wannabe. The movie has a cast with a few notable names past their primes in such minor roles that you wonder who cashed in a favor or two.
Then there is Mel Gibson, the controversial Hollywood legend, who elevates this adventure horror film into something worth the price of admission. Gibson’s performance single-handedly elevates Monster Summer, which could have been a cheap knockoff, into something substantive.
Not to mention, this is a family “horror” film with a surprising amount of heart.

“Night of the Zoopocalypse,” the spooky animated family comedy featuring the voices of David Harbour (“Stranger Things”), Scott Thompson (“The Kids in the Hall”), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (“The Mandalorian”) and Gabbi Kosmidis (“Unicorn Academy”) has been picked up by Viva Pictures for the U.S. The deal was brokered with Charades and Anton, who were handling sales, ahead of the film’s world premiere at the Sitges Film Festival on Oct. 6.
“Night of the Zoopocalypse” will be released across North America on March 7, 2025. Elevation Pictures will distribute theatrically in Canada.
Inspired by a concept from best-selling genre author Clive Barker (“The Thief of Always”), the film sees a meteor unleash a virus that turns zoo animals into mutants. A mountain lion (Harbour) and wolf (Kosmidis) must lead a team of surviving animals to stop the virus and rescue their zoo.
The film was directed by veteran animators Ricardo Curtis and Rodrigo Perez-Castro.

Three years after its shutdown, the legacy of BlueSky Studios is somewhat being forgotten within the animation community. Originally the successor to the defunct Fox Animation Studios, BlueSky Studios was one of the earliest companies to work with 3D animation. Founded in 1987, they worked on multiple commercials and short films. They made movies like Robots, Epic, the Rio series, and The Peanuts Movie. But perhaps they were best known for the Ice Age series.
From 2002 – 2016, the Ice Age series consisted of five theatrical films with over $3.2 Billion in profit, making it one of the most successful animated movie franchises of all time.
The series technically finished with the fifth film, Collision Course, when it performed far lower than previous entries.

Ice Age 6 has finally been announced, and while it is exciting, I desperately hope that the upcoming sequel doesn't ruin Scrat's happy ending. Despite the saber-tooth squirrel rarely having anything to do with the main plots of the films, Scrat is Ice Age's most iconic character, with the various antics that he goes through while attempting to get his acorn being absolutely hilarious. While Scrat may seem like nothing more than a comedic side character, he was actually given a happy ending, and I really hope that Ice Age 6 doesn't take this away from him.

Within the greater scope of American animation companies, one studio that made its mark was Blue Sky Studios. Owned by 20th Century Fox, Blue Sky created some of the most popular animated films of the 2000s and 2010s, including Ice Age, Rio, and The Peanuts Movie. While Blue Sky’s films weren’t always popular with critics, nobody can deny they had a knack for creating unique worlds, good messages, and even some stellar performances by the voice actors who played fun and memorable characters.

When Chris Wedge's animated film "Ice Age" first came out in 2002, it was considered novel and striking for many reasons. It was set in prehistoric times yet eschewed dinosaurs in favor of megafauna living in the Pleistocene Epoch. The three main characters were a sloth named Sid (John Leguizamo), a smilodon named Diego (Denis Leary), and a mammoth named Manfred aka Manny (Ray Romano), and they were engaged in a great migration to flee the oncoming Ice Age. The plot of their first movie apes John Ford's 1946 Western "3 Godfathers," as the three animals discover a human infant that they must keep safe and deliver back to the then-evolutionarily-novel homo sapiens living nearby.
The design of "Ice Age" was striking, aiming for broad, stylized characters that were markedly different from the friendly, big-eyed protagonists of Disney pictures. It certainly helped that the "Ice Age" movies featured a character named Scrat,...

Nickelodeon is reimagining its Emmy Award-winning series The Fairly OddParents by launching the animated series Fairly Oddparents: A New Wish this spring.
The network promises the new iteration will extend the fairy universe for a new generation while honoring the original series, The Fairly OddParents, which ran from 2001-2017 and was created by Butch Hartman.

(Welcome to Animation Celebration, a recurring feature where we explore the limitless possibilities of animation as a medium. In this edition: "Nimona.")
Following the Walt Disney Company's acquisition of Fox, Blue Sky Studios, the animation company behind films like "Ice Age," "The Peanuts Movie," and "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!" was shuttered. This meant the already-in-progress adaptation of Nd Stevenson's graphic novel, "Nimona," was canceled. It's a tragedy when any project is unceremoniously scrapped as what boils down to a corporate cost-saving measure but for a film like "Nimona," whose production was already fighting to be presented authentically as Disney attempted to stifle the overtly queer elements of the film, it felt like yet another example of a corporation devaluing the stories of an already marginalized community to appease the status quo.

Charlie Brown's iconic (and puzzling) hairstyle finally makes sense, thanks to a charming piece of fan art showing a more accurate depiction. The original Peanuts strips and Peanuts Movie misinterpret Charlie's hair as one long strand, leading to assumptions about him being bald. Jokeb0i's fan art clarifies Charlie's hair, giving him a more average haircut (while still maintaining his familiar and beloved appearance).
After Charlie Brown has stumped the world for decades, one piece of inspired fan art has done the impossible, and finally made sense of the Peanuts star's iconic and baffling, one-stranded hairstyle.
Charles Schulz's Peanuts stars a collection of colorful characters, and aside from Snoopy, is best known for its central character, Charlie Brown, a beleaguered boy who battles daily misfortunes, misunderstanding from his peers, and an utter lack of self-confidence. Sony Pictures Animation just dropped a trailer for their upcoming film, ‘The Garfield Movie,’ and it’s catching everyone’s attention. Chris Pratt, known for his role in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ brings life to the iconic, lasagna-loving cat. The trailer hints at a unique story, showing how Garfield and his owner Jon Arbuckle meet, wrapped in a theme reminiscent of ‘The Peanuts Movie.’
What’s really exciting is the twist in the story. The movie promises a high-stakes heist, which is a departure from the usual Garfield antics. According to the studio’s synopsis, Garfield, after reuniting with his long-lost father Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson), gets dragged into a thrilling adventure. He’s not alone, though; his pal Odie joins in on the action too.
The casting for this movie is impressive. Along with Pratt and Jackson, the film features talents like Hannah Waddingham, Nicholas Hoult, Ving Rhames,...

There are three types of people in the world: "Garfield" people, "Calvin and Hobbes" people, and "Peanuts" people. As a practicing worshipper of The Great Pumpkin and the human result of what happens when Lucy van Pelt and Peppermint Patty go through the Brundlefly machine, I am firmly in the latter camp. There's no such thing as a bad "Peanuts" movie, in my opinion, only films that are special to a smaller number of fans.
The characters created by Charles M. Schulz have been entertaining generations for over 75 years, and there's no sign of stopping. Apple won the rights to much of the "Peanuts" library in the streaming wars, releasing the hybrid "Peanuts" special/Schulz documentary "Who Are You, Charlie Brown?" as well as two series, "Snoopy in Space" and "The Snoopy Show." Now, Apple TV+ is developing its first "Peanuts" original feature, bringing Charlie Brown and the gang to the Big City.

Snoopy has become a pop culture icon since his first appearance in Charles Schulz's Peanuts comic strip. In May 1965, Schulz decided to expand on the dog's history and give him siblings, though at the time Snoopy only caught up with them at an off-page family reunion. While most fans can perhaps name one or two of Snoopy's brothers and sisters, many will be surprised to find there is a whole litter.
The first sibling to actually appear in the Peanuts strips was Spike, who showed up over a decade after Snoopy's brothers and sisters were first mentioned.
Four more were slowly introduced over the next 20 years, with the final two, Molly and Rover, never actually making it into the comic strip, only appearing in a TV special, 1991's TV special, Snoopy's Reunion.

The very first line of dialogue in Peanuts' debut strip was uttered by a character that many fans might not have guessed. For decades, Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Snoopy and Woodstock have starred in the strip – but when it came to the very first Peanuts comic, none of these iconic characters said a word.
In Charles Schulz's first Peanuts comic, from October 2, 1950, Charlie Brown makes only a passing appearance, not saying a word in the strip's four panels.
Instead, Shermy (also known as Sherman) speaks the franchise's first lines, as he tells Patty that "Good Ol' Charlie Brown" is walking by. When Charlie walks out of sight, Shermy is quick to change tone, telling Patty, "how I hate him."

“I could tell you, but I’d have to kill you. [Laughs] Nothing is off the table,” Craig said in an interview with Screen Rant. “We’re always exploring different ideas and different things in this co-view series that we’ve done, which touched upon the environment, the love for teachers, Mother’s Day, and how it interacts with enough people. All those subjects are just really fun, and as you know, the Peanuts universe is sort of endless.”

Craig Schulz, son of the creator of Peanuts, is hopeful for a new Peanuts movie and confirms that "nothing is off the table." The success of The Peanuts Movie in 2015 and the current popularity of Peanuts content on Apple TV+ make now the perfect time for another big-screen outing. One of the biggest factors to consider for a new movie is which animation house Schulz and his team will turn to, with hopes that they find a studio as inventive as Blue Sky Studios after it was shut down by Disney.
With nearly a decade gone since the iconic comic strip made its way to the big screen, Craig Schulz offers a hopeful response to the chances of a new Peanuts movie. After four movies produced in the late '60s and '70s, the franchise came back with The Peanuts Movie in 2015, which saw Charlie Brown trying to win...

The comic strip Peanuts, featuring an iconic cast of characters led by Charlie Brown, was written and drawn by Charles Schulz for nearly 50 years, and according to Robert Thompson, a professor of pop culture at Syracuse University, that makes it the longest story ever told by a single individual.
During an episode of PBS' NewsHour that aired after the passing of Peanuts creator, Charles Schulz, Professor Thompson argues that Peanuts is "arguably the longest story told by a single artist in human history." In the PBS special, entitled "So Long, Charlie Brown," he gives examples ranging from Wagner's operas to Leo Tolstoy's novels of works not as lengthy as the totality of Charlie Brown comics.

Blue Sky Studios, known for popular films like Ice Age and Rio, was once a major player in the animation industry but closed in April 2021 due to a corporate acquisition and cost-cutting efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite not being as acclaimed as competitors like Pixar and DreamWorks, Blue Sky Studios received attention and awards, including an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film and nominations for Best Animated Film. The closure of Blue Sky Studios was a result of Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox and the financial challenges of maintaining three separate animation studios. The studio's closure left 450 employees without work. However, Blue Sky's last movie, Nimona, was picked up by Annapurna Pictures and has been well-received by critics and audiences.

Netflix’s “Nimona” marks an LGBTQ breakthrough for a mainstream animated film. Based on Nd Stevenson’s best-selling queer graphic novel about the titular teen shapeshifter (Chloë Grace Moretz) in a futuristic medieval world, “Nimona” explores timely issues of identity and xenophobia. It additionally pushes 2D stylization into 3D with a uniquely illustrated look.
“Nimona” is also a minor miracle. It was rescued from the dead by Annapurna Animation and Netflix after Disney halted production in 2021 when they shuttered Fox-owned Blue Sky Studios, where the project originated. As it was, the film’s LGBTQ themes were watered down and a same-sex kiss between bestie knights (voiced by Riz Ahmed and Eugene Lee Yang) was a cause of concern at Disney.
But former Blue Sky co-presidents Andrew Millstein and Robert Baird refused to let “Nimona” die in 2021. Together with producer Julie Zackary and directors Nick Bruno and Troy Quane (“Spies in Disguise...
