Electronic Arts (EA) may have canceled its Black Panther project and shut down Cliffhanger Games recently, but the publisher has confirmed that it isn’t walking away from it's partnership with Marvel. Both EA and Marvel have confirmed that their multi-title partnership is still alive and well, with at least three Marvel games planned beginning with the highly anticipated Iron Man game that is being developed at Motive Studio.
This confirmation was after the disappointing announcement of Cliffhanger Games shutting down, the team formerly developing Black Panther. Originally announced as the second of a three-game deal between EA and Marvel signed back in 2023, the cancellation sparked concern among fans and onlookers about the future of the collaboration. However, both companies quickly clarified their continued commitment to the partnership.
"Our partnership with Marvel remains strong and our multi-title, long-term collaboration continues," said EA Entertainment president Laura Miele in a statement to IGN.

Lauren Holly's "NCIS" character, Jenny Shepard, played a considerable role in the CBS procedural juggernaut from season 3 to season 5. From 2005 to 2007, the erstwhile Naval Criminal Investigative Service director loomed over Leroy Jethro Gibbs' (Mark Harmon) Major Case Response Team during some of its most fascinating and dangerous investigations. It's saying something that her debut episode is the two-part season 3 opener "Kill Ari," which finally ends the team's clash with Rudolf Martin's Ari Haswari, who just might be the most devious antagonist in the show's history.
The role of the NCIS director is extremely important for the series, and Shepard's determination, personal issues, and romantic history with Gibbs make for an extremely memorable boss figure. Unfortunately for fans of her character, Holly ended up leaving the show in a fairly definite fashion in "NCIS" season 5, episode 18 -- titled "Judgment Day (Part I)" -- when the terminally ill Shepard...

Beloved crime-fighting procedural NCIShas seen its fair share of casting changes since its 2003 debut. Its impressive longevity is only surpassed by Law & Order, and its characters have long since entered the public consciousness. Ask anyone if they know who Leroy Jethro Gibbs is; they’ll likely say they do. It is, quite simply, one of the most iconic procedurals of the century. Following Mark Harmon’s recent departure, only one original cast member remains on NCIS: Timothy McGee (Sean Murray). Like the show’s devoted fans, Dinozzon has weathered the series’ many staffing changes. He’s also seen a few different NCIS Directors.
One of the most impactful of these leaders was Director Jennifer “Jenny” Shepard (Lauren Holly). Her on-screen tenure as the agency’s leader began in 2005 and ended in 2007. However, her most famous moment on the show was also her last. Her violent death halfway through the...

Warning: Spoilers for Heretic ahead!A24's latest psychological horror movie, Heretic, stars Hugh Grant, Sophia Thatcher, and Chloe East, but it also features a brief fun cameo from Topher Grace that requires some explanation. Heretic focuses primarily on three characters: Grant's mysterious Mr. Reed, Thatcher's Sister Barnes and East's Sister Paxton. The two young missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are invited to Reed's home to pitch their religion and potentially baptize him, but what unfolds is an unsettling, slow-burn examination of faith, belief, and organized religion as a whole.
By the end of Heretic, Grant proves how capable he is in a creepier, more intimidating capacity, which is certainly against type for the veteran English actor. Thatcher and East complement Grant's terrifyingly saccharine Mr. Reed with very convincing performances, and a vast majority of the movie's runtime is dedicated to the three characters' evolving game of cat and mouse.

An upcoming independent horror film with Hereditary and The Conjuring vibes is creeping its way toward screens. Screenwriter Lila McLaughlin is stepping behind the camera for her directorial debut, shooting from a script she wrote that sounds bone-chilling in all the best ways. Joining McLaughlin for Don’t Let Them Out are Emily Rios, Louis Ferreira, and Bonnie Root as primary cast members.
According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, Don’t Let Them Out follows “a struggling woman who journeys to a property she has inherited in hopes of selling it to pay off her debts. But upon arriving to the property, the story takes a terrifying turn when the woman is lured into a desperate scavenger hunt down a perilous rabbit hole.”

Electronic Arts, which makes such games as Madden NFL and Apex Legends, said today that it plans to lay off five percent of its employees and will discontinue work on several games.
The announcement continues the ongoing downsizing in the gaming and tech space, a development that has seen thousands of jobs lost.
EA said the layoffs are part of a broader restructuring aimed at supporting “strategic priorities and growth initiatives,” according to a Tuesday securities filing. EA said in that document that it also plans to reduce its office space footprint.
Last year, EA sliced 800 employees, while Epic Games cut 830 jobs in September. In January, Tencent’s Riot Games said it would lay off 11% of its workforce and Microsoft said it would cull 1,900 jobs from its Activision Blizzard and Xbox gaming divisions.
On Tuesday, Sony said on Tuesday it would cut 8% of its global workforce, amounting to around 900 jobs.

The “Law & Order” universe is heading up north. Citytv has ordered the series “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent,” Rogers Media announced on Monday. The pickup was revealed a day before Rogers Media’s virtual upfront presentation on June 6.
The Toronto iteration hails from Vancouver-based Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures Inc. in association with Citytv. The first season is planned as ten hour-long episodes, set to premiere in Spring 2024. The show is based on the “Law & Order” franchise created by Dick Wolf for Universal Television, which will distribute the series internationally.
But in this case, “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” also takes its cue from “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” the third series in Wolf’s “L&o” franchise. The original “Criminal Intent,” created and produced by Wolf and René Balcer, ran for 10 seasons between 2001 and 2011, and starred Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe.

R&b is one of the biggest genres not only in music consumption but in the awards conversation. Artists like Beyoncé, Silk Sonic, Jazmine Sullivan, Jon Batiste, and H.E.R. have made a lot of noise due to their success at the Grammys, and it’s likely that one or two breakouts from this year will join their ranks. Let’s take a look at some buzzing names in R&b contention this year.
SEEBillboard Hot 100: Every #1 song of 2023
If you’re talking about R&b in 2023, you have to talk about Sza. The singer-songwriter has had a great year with the success of her sophomore album, “Sos.” It’s indisputably the frontrunner for Best Progressive R&b Album. There is, perhaps, a chance that the record could be moved to the pop field because it juggles many genres at once, but let’s assume it’s in R&b for now.

The Ferengi are one of Star Trek's most interesting alien species, and their culture, including their Rules of Acquisition, has been fleshed across the franchise's TV shows and beyond. Though they debuted in Star Trek: The Next Generation as strange villains, the Ferengi were later an integral part of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, as viewers were given a chance to learn more about their culture through such characters as Quark and Rom. Even if they were abrasive to many of the Starfleet officers on the station, the Rules of Acquisition were important to each and every Ferengi, and they colored the way that they lived their lives.
Cultural differences make up the heart of Star Trek's ideals of the future, and the Ferengi have often offered the biggest challenge to those who were not of their species. The best Ferengi episodes of Star Trek usually showed both sides of their interesting culture,...

This story about “The Fabelmans” Star Gabriel Labelle first appeared in the Race Begins issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
When he walked into TheWrap’s studio at the Toronto International Film Festival in September wearing a tracksuit and sporting a big grin, Gabriel Labelle was a 19-year-old Canadian actor who’d never before done an interview. And more to the point, when he arrived at TIFF, he was an unknown who’d done a handful of roles since making his acting debut at the age of 11 on the Canadian TV series “Motive.”
But when he left Toronto a few days and a lot of interviews later, he was the star of “The Fabelmans,” the film that would win the festival’s People’s Choice Award and become an instant awards frontrunner. The movie, written by Steven Spielberg and Tony Kushner and based on Spielberg’s own experiences growing up as an aspiring filmmaker,...

For over a decade, millions upon millions of viewers have been tuning in to watch couples fall in love and families come together around the holiday season.
It's true that many of these movies recycle the same tropes and themes, but it's also clear that Hallmark has a real preference for certain cast members as well. From Luke McFarlane to Tyler Hynes and Ryan Paevey, fans often debate the most popular Hallmark male actor, and they all lend some holiday cheer and magic to each project. After dropping the epic “Lord of the Rings” television series on Prime Video last month, it’s no surprise the streaming giant is taking it easy this October. They still have plenty of new shows and movies coming out, though none quite on the scale of their journey to Middle Earth.
