The Superman trailer has been released and it is absolutely glorious. It showed us that its 2025 release can’t come soon enough. David Corenswet has already made fans across the world excited for his take on the Man of Steel, while Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult have done the same with their takes on Lois Lane and Lex Luthor.
Of course, audiences are waiting to see those iconic three characters on the screen again, but the trailer revealed some of the other characters that will appear in the movie too like Guy Gardner, Metamorpho, and Hawk Girl.
Many people who will go and see Superman in theaters won't have read comic books regularly or know the history. They aren’t aware that Krypto (the goodest dog in DC Comics) debuted in Adventure Comics No. 210 or how The Engineer, Angela Spica (played by María Gabriela de Faría) has multiple first appearances...

Isabella Torre is at Venice with her first feature “Basileia.” The film follows an archaeologist who, while exploring a tomb containing an ancient treasure in Southern Italy’s rugged Aspromonte mountains, unleashes mythical nymphs.
The dark fairytale – which is closing the fest’s independently run Giornate Degli Autori, also known as Venice Days – was developed at the Sundance Lab. It is produced by Torre’s partner, director Jonas Carpignano (“A Chiara”) and sold by Luxbox. “Basileia” is an expansion of Torre’s short “Nymphs,” which premiered at Venice Horizons in 2018. The film’s cast comprises Angela Fontana (“Indivisibili”) and Danish-American actor Elliott Crosset Hove (“Godland”).
Below, Torre and Carpignano speak to Variety about venturing into the non-conventional genre space with a tale that mixes mythology and present-day reality.
How did the story of “Basilea” germinate?
Torre: It’s all because of Aspromonte, which is not just a location — it became...

Ukrainian phenomenon “Mavka” is expanding its universe.
Following the premiere of feature film “Mavka. The Forest Song,” it is now set to become a 3D animated series as well. It will be produced by Animagrad Studio – part of the Film.UA Group – with France’s TeamTO already on board as co-development partner.
The project, which will be teased at Annecy’s Partners Pitch, will serve as a prequel to the film, explains Film.UA’s Kseniya Baranova.
“It’s set immediately after the battle between humans and Lesh, the forest guardian, which happened while the rest of the forest dwellers were in their deep winter sleep,” she said.
In each of 12 episodes, Mavka and her friends will be facing new challenges, given tasks to help the forest recover after the battle and restore order and harmony.
“Together with Swampy the Kittyfrog, Hush the Noise Keeper and the Nymphs, Mavka will go through unexpected,...

Beta Film, the German producer and distributor of TV and film, has formed Sweden-based Beta Nordic Studios (Bns), which will act as an umbrella group for the company’s production activities in Scandinavia.
The move comes in the wake of Beta taking a majority stake in Finnish film and TV production outfit Fisher King, which has credits including the crime drama series Bordertown and fantasy drama series Nymphs, both of which originated in Finland but attracted international finance and were sold to international territories.
