Exclusive Trailer for Redlands Captures Creativity, Sexuality, and Violence in California
Image
With their latest release, Constance Tsang’s evocative debut Blue Sun Palace, now in theaters, the distributor Dekanalog has now announced their latest acquisition. John Brian King’s drama Redlands, which premiered back in 2014, has now finally been acquired by the distributor for a release later this year. Following three residents of Redlands, California whose lives intersect and ultimately collide, we’re pleased to exclusively debut the trailer and poster for the film that radically captures creativity, sexuality, and violence in America.

Here’s the synopsis: “Vienna is a young ‘alternative’ nude model who lives with her indie-musician boyfriend Zack in Redlands, California (a bleak Inland Empire city sixty miles east of Los Angeles). Controlling and hypocritical, Zack uses Vienna’s earnings to further his own musical career as Vienna attempts to build a creative life of her own. Their lives are forever changed when Vienna meets Allan, a balding...

‘Exquisite Corpses’ Killer Reveal: Rascal Randy Is The Nastiest Bunny Around
Image
Horror legends James Tynion IV (Something is Killing the Children) and Michael Walsh (The Silver Coin) have teamed up to create and lead one unique comic experience with their new 13-issue series Exquisite Corpses, launching this May from Image Comics/Tiny Onion. Each issue will feature Tynion and Walsh in collaboration—and competition—with a roster of industry-leading talent. Each issue will build upon the last in a true ‘exquisite corpse‘ style!

In Exquisite Corpses:

Every five years on Halloween, the wealthiest families in America play a game. In Exquisite Corpses, 12 of the deadliest people in the world are dropped into a small town with just one goal: the last killer standing wins. For the citizens of Oak Valley, Maine—this year’s unlucky arena—the goal is much simpler. They must survive the night.

In honor of the upcoming release, Dread Central is excited to exclusively reveal one of...

Breaking Baz: Barbara Broccoli Gets Ready To Transfer Off Broadway ‘Sing Street’ Musical To London Stage In Summer 2025
Image
Exclusive: Barbara Broccoli, with her theater hat on, is transferring the Sing Street musical to London. The play is based on John Carney’s charming 2016 coming-of-age movie about a group of skint schoolkids in 1982 Dublin who form a rock band to help them find love and forget their troubles.

The show, from the team behind Once, is another musical adapted from a film created by Carney.

Once, with James Bond producer Broccoli as lead producer, went on to win eight trophies at the 66th Tony Awards, including Best Musical and a Best Book win for playwright-screenwriter Enda Walsh, who performs the same writing duties on Sing Street.

Walsh confirmed that the Sing Street musical will preview at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith, West London beginning July 8 for a limited run until August 23.

The show is billed as A Lyric Hammersmith Theatre Theatre Production but it’s being led by Broccoli, as...

Bernie Sanders
Young Bernie Sanders Makes a Blood Pact With Stalin in Satirical Comedy ‘Free Lunch Express’ (Exclusive Trailer)
Bernie Sanders
In a plotline nobody saw coming (let alone a movie being made about it) a young Bernie Sanders swears a blood oath to Joseph Stalin in the trailer for the upcoming satirical comedy, “Free Lunch Express.”

The movie is clearly not trying to portray Sanders in a positive light. For example, at one point, a young Sanders can be seen in front of a propaganda poster of Stalin, saying, “I totally pledge with this blood oath to dedicate my life to never picking up a dinner check, never donating to charity, and like in the glorious Soviet Union, making sure the government pays for everything.”

Malcolm McDowell serves as the film’s narrator. “Aw, Bernie, bless his cotton socks,” McDowell caps off the trailer by saying.

There’s really no way to properly describe “Free Lunch Express,” so here is how the producers sum up the film:

Once upon a...

Christopher Eccleston, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lee Byung-hun, Rachel Nichols, Ray Park, Sienna Miller, and Channing Tatum in G.I. Joe : Le Réveil du Cobra (2009)
The Best of The Humble Bundle Image Comics Deal
Christopher Eccleston, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lee Byung-hun, Rachel Nichols, Ray Park, Sienna Miller, and Channing Tatum in G.I. Joe : Le Réveil du Cobra (2009)
Humble Bundle is a great way to add some bulk to your digital comics (and games) collection while also doing some good in the world. They offer pay-what-you-want deals that let you divert however much of your purchase you want to charity, and if you spend at certain levels, you get more stuff. Since its inception, they’ve had bundles covering everything from G.I. Joe and Transformers comics to kids books or Top Shelf art books.

The latest bundle covers almost $1600 worth of collected editions from Image Comics, with proceeds being sent to two outstanding charities: the Binc Foundation, the nonprofit helping independent bookstores weather the Covid-related economic downturn; and the Hero Initiative, a nonprofit that helps provide a safety net to comic creators in need. But the question that might jump to mind for an overwhelmed reader is “Is this bundle actually a deal?”

The answer is undoubtedly yes,...

[Review] Redlands
As an art-house piece, Amok Books founder/owner John Brian King‘s debut feature film Redlands is pretty much what you’d expect from someone who’s curated an exhibit of John Wayne Gacy‘s “clown” paintings, produced an S&M performance entitled “Nailed!,” and interviewed Charles Manson at San Quentin Prison. It’s a darkly serene drama focusing on an outgoing [...]...
