8/10

really good play ...

This is absolutely excellent but in effect it is a play and was a play which was "adapted" for the big screen

but it remains a play

the dialogues are exquisite and never stop amusing the viewer

the acting of all involved is stellar

Corsica looks beautiful but could she not if she tried?

The quartet of thugs here really outdo themselves as regards dumbness; especially one of them Bellette (Weasel) who comes out with the dumbest remarks ever created leaving the others and the kidnapped Sophie Marceau who is not in fact Sophie Marceau although she does appear in a short scene at the start and is very good in that too

Highly recommended but it does remain a play and not a film; most of it happens in one locale; a farmhouse upcountry ....

ps: it reminds one of another 1996 film which was a play as regards genre >> Albino Alligator (1996)
