It seems that Dallas Jenkins has had a big change of heart when it comes to sharing release windows and dates for The Chosen. Today, Amazon MGM Studios and Jenkins’ 5&2 Studios have revealed that the Season 6 finale of the Biblical epic will arrive in cinemas on March 12, 2027. Covering the crucifixion of Jonathan Roumie’s Jesus, the episode won’t be your run-of-the-mill finale, as it will be the length of a feature film and will celebrate its unveiling exclusively in theaters. But wait, there’s more. Even though Jenkins has been vocal about not sharing too many details surrounding the next set of episodes to come, he’s already slated the show’s Season 7 return for March 31, 2028. The debut installment will tell the story of the resurrection of Jesus, and it, like the Season 6 finale, will also be an exclusive to cinema release and receive a theatrical runtime.

More times than not, you’ll hear plenty of qualms from those who have read a popular book or series that has been adapted for the screen. Fandoms like those behind The Hunger Games and Game of Thrones are quick to point out the glaring differences that shifted from page to production. But there’s one following that loves the retelling so much they’ve donated their own dollars to its future. That would be those addicted to Prime Video’s Biblical series, The Chosen, whom creator, director, and co-scribe, Dallas Jenkins, refers to as “co-creators.”
While chipping away at the sixth season of the uber-popular series, Jenkins chatted with the Deseret News about the overwhelming response from the fan base, which he credits with getting the title on its feet. When Jenkins’ journey with The Chosen began, he admitted, “I didn’t know that there would be any fans,...

Filming has been underway for just around one month on Season 6 of The Chosen, and we’re finally beginning to hear from the actors who are experiencing the day-to-day production of the Dallas Jenkins-created series. With Season 5 ending just after the infamous story of The Last Supper, those familiar with the story of Jesus (played in the series by Jonathan Roumie) will know what comes next — death and heartbreak. Teasing the emotions that audiences are bound to feel when the next part of the series eventually ends up on screens next year, Reza Diako, who appears in the production as the Apostle Philip, told The Christian Post,
“If you’re the kind that enjoys intensity, then I suppose you’re very excited for what’s coming. If you can’t handle it, then I’m so sorry, but it’s still going to happen. We know where the story is going.

He has spoken. The Chosen creator, Dallas Jenkins, has once again opened up with some fresh updates about the highly-anticipated sixth season of the biblical series and, this time, it’s actually good news. We’ve known for a while that the next set of episodes won’t be arriving anytime soon, but with Season 5 set to arrive on Prime Video on June 15, following a financially profitable run in cinemas, fans at least have something to look forward to. Although no release date has been set for Season 6, Jenkins revealed during a livestream (via ScreenRant), that audiences can look forward to longer episodes.
Keeping his cards close to his chest, the show’s creator, director, and co-scribe teased the sixth season's impending arrival, sharing, “Season 6, the first six episodes, are going to be coming out sometime next year,” before backtracking, “It won’t be early next year.” Walking a fine...

The Chosen recently wrapped up all three installments of Season 5 in theaters, and although Last Supper - Part 3 finished its run as the lowest-grossing of the bunch, fans are still excited to see what creator Dallas Jenkins has in store next. Prime Video has already announced that the fifth season will begin streaming on the platform on June 15, but it looks like it’s going to be a while before The Chosen returns to the big screen. Jenkins recently took part in a Q&a to talk about the future of the franchise, and when asked about Season 6, he came right out of the gate with a release window for the first six episodes:
"So, season six, one thing I will clear up, because there's been some rumors in the past, here's what's happening. Season six, the first six episodes, are going to be coming out sometime next year. It won't be early next year…...

The Chosen season 6 will have a very different release schedule compared to previous seasons. After earning its first major theatrical debut, The Chosen season 5 shattered records at the box office as viewers came in droves to see the episodes on the silver screen. The Chosen: Last Supper - Part 1, which was released in approximately 2,000 theaters, earned $11.7 million in its opening weekend and proved that this franchise has theatrical potential. With season 6 currently in development, another theatrical release is seemingly inevitable.
In a live Q&a for The Chosen, franchise creator Dallas Jenkins opened up about the producers' plans for the upcoming season. While he has always been "extremely transparent" about the direction of each release, he intends to be more reserved with these coming episodes. He believes the release schedules have given viewers unrealistic expectations, hurting the show's reception. He no longer intends to share the release window until it is finalized.

While they are not always popular in the mainstream, faith-based movies have the potential to do well at the box office. Some of these titles are overtly religious, such as the 2024 Alan Ritchson drama Ordinary Angels. Other titles that get looped in the faith-based subcategory are less overtly God-infused but still resonate with Christian messaging. One such success is Sound of Freedom, a 2023 movie about a government agent who attempts to rescue children from child traffickers. Sound of Freedom made a remarkable $250.5 million at the worldwide box office.
2025 has already been strong for Christian-centric works. Episodes of the Biblical series The Chosen: Last Supper were released in theaters and performed remarkably well, given that they were also slated to hit the small screen. These episodes ended up making just shy of $25 million worldwide, makingThe Chosen the no. 30 highest-grossing title at the 2025 box office. Earlier this week, we learned that the Prime Video streaming release date for The Chosen season 5 would be released very soon, and the series' creator Dallas Jenkins fulfilled that promise.
As announced on 5&2 Day, The Chosen season 5 premieres on Sunday, June 15 on Prime Video in the United States. Those in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sub-Saharan Africa, UK, and Latin America will have to wait a little bit longer to stream season 5 on Prime Video. In those territories, the latest season will begin streaming sometime in July, though the exact date hasn't been revealed.
If you were hoping to binge-watch the full season all at once, you will likely be disappointed. Rather than releasing all episodes of the Last Supper season at the same time, Prime Video will be dropping the season in increments across three weeks. The Chosen officially has a date for when Season 5's streaming release will be announced, but other streaming information has already been revealed. During The Chosen's latest Q&a live stream, showrunner and director Dallas Jenkins confirmed that Season 5's streaming date will be revealed during the show's annual 5&2 Day livestream taking place on Friday, May 2. But that's not all. The director also shared some changes to The Chosen's streaming (and a timeline!) that fans can expect.
Due to The Chosen's new contract with Amazon Prime Video, Season 5 of The Chosen will stream exclusively on Prime Video for 90 days. But while fans have to wait until May 2 for the exact premiere date, Dallas Jenkins confirmed it will be in June of 2025.

Three films centered on the life of Jesus Christ appeared in the domestic top ten over the weekend, led by the animated feature The King of Kings, which debuted with an estimated $19.3 million across 3,200 theaters. The release from Angel Studios ranks as the top opening ever for an animated faith-based film.
The film features Oscar Isaac as the voice of Jesus and was adapted from Charles Dickens’ The Life of Our Lord. Directed by Seong-ho Jang and co-written with Rob Edwards, The King of Kings follows a young boy who, through bedtime storytelling, imagines himself walking alongside Jesus and witnessing the key events of his life.

The Chosen is on the road to Calvary — but fans will have to be patient before they see what comes next. While Season 5 of the cultural phenomenon is still playing out in theaters, audiences already know what’s looming on the horizon: the Crucifixion. Season 6 is expected to dive into the darkest and most emotionally intense chapter of Jesus’ story yet. But when exactly it arrives is still a mystery — and not the good kind.
According to series creator and director Dallas Jenkins, The Chosen has always been mapped out as a seven-season journey. “We plotted out seven seasons,” he previously said, “and planned where we were going from the start.” That means two more chapters are guaranteed — but the timeline just got longer. A lot longer.

Although we’re seeing a clear case of declining returns, The Chosen franchise has experienced unprecedented success at the box office. The television series, which has been screening episodes theatrically in collaboration with Fathom Entertainment, recently hit the $100 million mark in combined revenue. It’s currently showing its fifth season in three theatrical installments that have earned a combined total of over $35 million. This week marked the release of The Chosen: Last Supper - Part 3, which comes on the heels of Last Supper - Part 1 and Last Supper - Part 2.

While the first part earned $11 million in its first three days of release, the second part grossed nearly $7 million. As Easter draws closer, The Chosen franchise is looking to capitalize on the holiday with a massive box office performance. The fifth season of the biblical television show is now being screened in its entirety in theaters, in three separate installments. The first two chapters — The Chosen: Last Supper - Part 1 and The Chosen: Last Supper - Part 2 — have grossed a combined total of almost $30 million, and have successfully pushed the franchise past an unprecedented milestone. This number will only increase by next week, when all three parts will be available to watch either separately or together.
Last Supper - Part 1 has grossed almost $19 million so far, while Last Supper - Part 2, which debuted a week later, has now hit the $10 million mark. Combined, the franchise’s domestic box office haul has now passed the $100 million mark. This is an incredible result for what is still, primarily, a TV show.

The Chosen: Last Supper — Part 1 has hit another box office milestone as it prepares for its second weekend in theaters. Despite no international screenings, the first two episodes of The Chosen Season 5 began playing in theaters last weekend, and they have already collected $15 million at the domestic box office from only 1,644 screens, roughly half that of A Working Man and more than 2,000 less than Snow White. The Chosen: Last Supper — Part 1 kicked off this week at the box office in the third spot, and it has held firm, despite some shake-ups at the top between Jason Statham and Rachel Zegler’s aforementioned flicks. The Chosen has fallen less than $100,000 behind the second-place competitor each day, and it could easily claim another top spot this weekend.

Thanks to a blockbuster opening weekend haul this past weekend, when it took the number three spot on the domestic box office charts, The Chosen: Last Supper - Part 1 is set to pass a new milestone today. In doing so, the "film" will also push the franchise past a fantastic new mark at the box office. The Chosen: Last Supper - Part 1, as the name suggests, is the first installment of a larger story. It's technically a television show, but like past seasons, has been receiving theatrical releases in recent years.
Last Supper - Part 1will be followed by two more installments in the run-up to Easter, and it's likely that this latest string of releases hits the $50 million mark in cumulative box office revenue. The comparison between Bleach and Naruto is something that anime fans have been doing since the two series came out. And while these comparisons vary according to the different elements of the narrative, the one that is most prominent is the one between the two protagonists of the series, Kurosaki Ichigo and Naruto Uzumaki.

In a world where some television shows just go on and on and on, well past their peak, The Chosen is thankfully taking a different approach. The show's guru, Dallas Jenkins, has always had an endgame in mind for the series, which looks back at the life of Jesus Christ and his followers, and for Luke Dimyan, who plays Judas Iscariot, that decision is part of what makes The Chosen unique. Just in time for the Easter holidays, a brand-new season of The Chosen is gearing up for release in March 2025, but we've also learned some exciting news about its streaming plans. The Chosen season 5, also subtitled as The Last Supper, begins rolling out in theaters in late March with its three-part theatrical run ending in April. When can fans start watching?
Earlier this year, Amazon MGM Studios struck a deal with The Chosen creator Dallas Jenkins and his production company 5&2 Studios to distribute the series in theaters for its final three seasons — seasons 5, 6, and 7 — and have an exclusive streaming window for each of those seasons on Prime Video. In addition, the past four seasons are also available on Prime Video.
Under this deal, The Chosen season 5 will begin its three-week theatrical run in March 2025. Following the third batch, all of the episodes will remain in theaters for fans to binge-watch if wanted.

On top of all of this, Amazon MGM Studios has inked a first-look series and feature deal with 5&2 Studios. Season 5 of The Chosen will hit theaters on March 28 during Holy week and drop on Prime Video this June. The series will be available on Prime Video in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sub-Saharan Africa, UK, and Latin America at a later date this year. Buffy The Vampire Slayer is set to return to screens in the near future, but are some things better off left in the past?
Warning! This article contains spoilers for all seasons of Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
Buffy Summers was – and is – a role model for millions of people who came of age in the late 90s and early 2000s. She was a normal high school student who battled demons, vampires and sometimes bugs as she navigated more mundane teen problems like boys, parents and school. Buffy was the one girl in her generation chosen to fight the forces of evil, whether she wanted to or not.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer, created by Joss Whedon – who is a bit of a persona non grata in Hollywood these days – came to an end in 2003. But as we reported on 3rd February, a new sequel series is in the works at Hulu.

Ever since Luffy has been revealed to have the power of Sun God Nika, One Piece has been going through a contentious phase. Fans believe that being the reincarnation of the liberator of the One Piece world has put an obligation on him and has introduced the Chosen One trope in the series, which has disrupted the uniqueness and creativity that made Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus one of the greatest narratives in history.

Since the beginning, Luffy has been different from the other Shonen protagonists because he never followed the stereotypes. He never wanted to display himself as the hero or the protector of the world and was only focused on having fun on his journey as a pirate. But with him becoming the next Joy Boy or Nika, things have turned majorly, making Luffy look similar to other shonen main characters like Naruto and Goku.

The David and Goliath tale gets a new epic retelling in the trailer for Prime Video’s House of David
It’s perhaps the greatest underdog story next to Rocky. Heck, it’s used as a phrase to describe a match-up that seems so unevenly matched. The David and Goliath tale is one of the most popular stories in the Bible. It tells of a normal man who went up against the fiercest warrior in the land in the biggest size difference imaginable. Amazon’s House of David is a series that will retell the story in eight epic episodes. Three episodes will premiere on February 27, with one episode weekly thereafter. The trailer has just been released.
The official description reads,
“House Of David tells the story of the ascent of the biblical figure, David, who eventually becomes the most renowned and celebrated king of Israel. The series follows the once-mighty King Saul as he falls victim to his own pride. At the direction of God, the prophet Samuel anoints an unlikely,...

There's sad news for fans of The Chosen on January 30 as the blessed series is departing Prime Video for the Promised Land. It's fair to say the show has grown into a cultural phenomenon, drawing acclaim for the way it has humanised the life of Jesus Christ and his disciples but, while the news of the removal from Prime Video is a blow, the good news is there's still plenty to look forward to. Now, looking ahead, The Chosen has a big year to come — and a big week to portray.

In the past few years, the biggest character development that Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of One Piece, has witnessed is definitely the Nika transformation that got unlocked during his battle with Kaido in the Wano arc. Luffy unlocked his biggest potential and went on to defeat the Strongest Creature in the One Piece world.

While most of the fans of the series were happy that Luffy had got a new power, others were disappointed with the weight they put on Luffy. This weight is generally called the Chosen One Trope, which would not only remove the uniqueness in Luffy’s character as a protagonist but also disrupt the message that Oda has been trying to portray since the beginning.
However, what fans fail to realize is that Oda had rejected the Chosen One trope way before it became a part of Luffy’s character.

Chosen Ones have often been regarded in a negative light in recent years, especially among the shonen anime genre, as one of the oldest and most overdone tropes in not only fiction, but in shonen anime particularly, spanning across countless series. From One Piece, Naruto, and even My Hero Academia, Chosen Ones are the bread and butter of shonen protagonists and that's not a bad thing.
While the shonen anime genre is full of stale tropes, the most formidable and infamous trope of them all is the Chosen One, hands down as the trope makes the main character not only important to the world and its characters, but sets them apart from the rest as someone who has the fate of the world on their shoulders, for better or worse.

When Netflix's new film Mary was released, it was met with low reviews from audiences and critics alike. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a rotten critics' score of 27% and an audience score of 43%. Although the film's tone was a main concern for many viewers, the inaccuracies were an even larger flaw for most.
With more than 40 producers credited in the film, including megachurch pastor Joel Osteen, it's a surprise that inaccuracies would be allowed to slip through the cracks. Catholic director D. J. Caruso told Entertainment Weekly that he wanted the film "to ensure authenticity" when defending the decision to cast Israeli actors in the film despite controversy. However, the final product doesn't seem like the team behind Mary actually wanted the film to be that authentic.

On the night of October 31, 1981, Lord Voldemort came knocking at the Potter Cottage in Godric's Hollow to murder his prophesied nemesis, a 15-month-old infant, Harry. Unbeknownst to Voldemort, his fated choice that night essentially cemented his own downfall. Had he made a different decision, Harry Potter may not have been the 'Chosen One' to bring him down.
Of course, in that case, the series would not be called "Harry Potter" in the first place, but that's a different discussion.
What is 'The Chosen One' trope and is Harry Potter an example of it?
For the uninitiated, 'The Chosen One' is a narrative trope where one character, usually the protagonist, turns out to be the inevitable hero of the story fueled by destiny or lineage. The Chosen One mostly ends up saving the world. Sometimes, it goes slightly askew, like in the case of Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels or Paul Atreides in Dune.

No, Star Wars hasn't confirmed Palpatine was Darth Vader's true father. Back in 1999, viewers were taken aback when George Lucas added a Messianic layer to the Star Wars saga. He revealed Anakin Skywalker was the Chosen One, a being conceived by the will of the Force itself. The theme wasn't really fleshed out in the prequel trilogy, with Lucas avoiding explaining it. Yoda even suggested the Chosen One prophecy had been misread, leaving everything up in the air.
Every now and again, though, you may see claims online that Palpatine is actually Anakin Skywalker's true father. The idea is loosely modified from James Luceno's Expanded Universe novel Plagueis, in which Darths Plagueis and Palpatine combined their power to try to create life. They failed, but their experiments backfired, leading the Force to respond by creating the Chosen One to counter the potential imbalance. There are some claims that canon goes even further,...

The faith-based historical epic The Chosen has taken the world by storm in its first four seasons, and the Christian drama will return for season 5. For the first time in the long history of biblical film and television, The Chosen aims to illuminate the life of Jesus Christ through an episodic multi-season series that is comparable to many of the most popular streaming programs. The series not only explores Jesus' life but the lives of those who interacted with him by expanding upon the stories of Christian doctrine.
The Chosen was a hit with its target audience while also becoming something of a streaming phenomenon on various platforms. While there have been many movies based on the life of Jesus, The Chosen sets itself apart by being a true character drama, and utilizing the ever-popular episodic format to its full advantage. A spinoff of the Biblical drama The Chosen just got a big update. The Chosen is a wildly popular historical drama that derives its plot from the life of Jesus Christ and the people who surrounded him. It is set in first-century Israel where Roman oppression is on the rise, and is considered to be a nuanced look at Jesus' life. The seasons of the series have been rolled out over years, with season 1 first being released in 2019 and The Chosen season 4 coming out earlier this year.

25 years after Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, one of the biggest mysteries about Anakin Skywalker that remains in Star Wars may finally be revealed in Ahsoka season 2. Anakin Skywalker's Star Wars timeline has dominated the franchise for decades, yet there are still many things that make no sense about Anakin. Perhaps for that reason, his story has continued to expand even after the Skywalker Saga came to a close with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
This has been particularly true of live-action TV shows, as both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka saw Hayden Christensen reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker and have brand-new arcs. In Ahsoka season 1, this included Anakin's appearances in the World Between Worlds and, shockingly, as a Force ghost in the Ahsoka ending. Now, Ahsoka season 2 has the opportunity to solve a major Anakin Skywalker mystery.

Xcom 2 was first released in 2016, but even in 2024, it is still one of the best turn-based strategy games on the market. This title was followed by two mini DLCs that added small bits of new content. However, the big update happened a year later with the War of the Chosen Dlc, adding three new boss enemies to fight throughout the game and three Rebel factions integrated into the story.

This Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 8:00 Pm, The Chosen returns with Season 4 Episode 8, titled “Humble.” In this thought-provoking episode, viewers will witness a deeper exploration of Jesus and the way He challenges the expectations of those around Him. Instead of conforming to the traditional image of a Messiah, Jesus embraces humility, leading to powerful moments that highlight His true nature.
As the story unfolds, the episode focuses on the reactions of His disciples and those who encounter Him. They struggle to understand why He does not fit the mold of the expected leader. This creates a rich narrative as it delves into the tension between worldly expectations and spiritual truth. The portrayal of Jesus’ humility serves as a reminder of the profound impact of genuine leadership and compassion.
Viewers can look forward to emotional storytelling and relatable characters as the series continues to bring the life of Jesus to the screen in a compelling way.
