Ramy Youssef on Comedy Today: ‘It Is the Tightest Tightrope I’ve Walked’
Image
In stand-up comedy, silence typically equals death. You tell a joke and the audience laughs? Great. You tell a joke and they groan? Well, at least they were interested enough to respond. Tell a joke and … nothing? You may have lost the room altogether.

For Ramy Youssef, though, a joke greeted with silence allowed him to find his comedic voice, which has expanded beyond his stand-up to include creating and/or starring in a pair of acclaimed comedy series — Ramy on Hulu, Mo on Netflix — a juicy supporting role in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things,...

What Happened To The Kid Who Played Jamie Scott After One Tree Hill Ended
Image
Jackson Brundage played the role of Jamie Scott in One Tree Hill from season 5 until the show ended in 2012. After One Tree Hill, Brundage had a few TV roles and starred as a series regular in the comedy See Dad Run. Brundage retired from acting in 2015 and has since been fairly active on social media, interacting with fans and sharing his adventures.

Joining the One Tree Hill cast in season 5, actor Jackson Brundage portrayed the role of Jamie Scott, but what happened after the show's end in 2012? Jamie Scott was the first child of Haley James Scott (Bethany Joy Lenz) and Nathan Scott (James Lafferty), whom the couple had in their senior year of high school. Jamie's first appearance was at the end of season 4, with Brundage taking on the role in season 5 in 2008 after a four-year time jump on the show.

Over the course of the show, Jamie was...

The Exorcist Reboot Casts Black Panther Actor (Is This the New Regan?)
Image
The Exorcist 2023 cast the actor who may be playing its possessed child. The film – which is coming to theaters on October 13 – is being directed by David Gordon Green as the beginning of a trilogy of legacy sequels to the 1973 classic, just like his Halloween trilogy that kicked off in 2018. The currently untitled project will star Leslie Odom Jr. as a father whose child is being afflicted by demonic forces that lead him to believe he might need to call an exorcist.

Per Deadline, Lidya Jewett has just been cast in a major role in The Exorcist. The actor joins a lineup that also includes Hereditary and The Handmaid's Tale star Ann Dowd. Her character has not yet been specified, but considering that the 16-year-old is the first young actor who has been cast in the film, she could very well be playing Odom Jr.'s possessed daughter.

How Ramy Youssef Made the Great American Millennial-Muslim Comedy
Ramy Youssef
The afternoon before Ramadan starts, Ramy Youssef is sitting in a restaurant in downtown Manhattan, dressed in sweats and a black Nike snapback hat. He’s loading up on food: a hearty stack of lemon curd pancakes, a side of turkey sausage, ketchup he liberally seasons with pepper. The 28-year-old has just finished performing downstairs at the Comedy Cellar, where he started out in typical slacker-bro comedian style, bemoaning the fact that he doesn’t have a girlfriend with whom he can grab fro-yo. Then he segued into a bit about watching Surviving R.

Ramy Youssef on Mining His Muslim Faith and Friends’ Experiences for New Hulu Comedy
Scott Baio in See Dad Run (2012)
After years of standing on-stage as a comic and appearing on-screen in such scripted series as “See Dad Run” and “Mr. Robot,” Ramy Youssef has combined both sides of his artistry for a self-titled streaming comedy.

Youssef created, stars in and also directed an episode of “Ramy,” centered on life as a Muslim man trying to navigate his faith, family, friends and dating. Although episodes of the series will switch perspective later in the season to allow insight into key players in his character’s life, such as his mother and sister, the majority of the show comes from Youssef’s point of view.

“It makes me nervous, but I think it should,” he says of coming from such a personal place. “I think if you feel comfortable with what you’re putting out there fully there’s probably a problem. I think there should be a level of, ‘I...

Raven-Symoné
It's a "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper" reunion!

Raven-Symoné, the young star of the '90s ABC sitcom, will guest star on Nick at Nite's "See Dad Run," which co-stars Mark Curry, who played the titular character on "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper."

Raven's episode is set to air during Season 2 in the fall on Nick at Nite.

Curry keeps his "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper" co-stars close. While filling in for Billy Bush as a guest host on "Access Hollywood Live" in March, Holly Robinson Peete said that she and Curry see each other all the time because their kids are in the same class.

Scott Baio's 'See Dad Run' Stages Mini-'Happy Days' Reunion
Ted McGinley
Scott Baio has been enjoying his return to television on the original Nick@Nite series "See Dad Run." In it, he plays David Hobbs, a television star, who steps away from the spotlight to be a stay-at-home dad. On the latest episode, the producers staged a mini-"Happy Days" reunion when they cast Ted McGinley as an old acting rival. McGinley played Roger on the seminal sitcom while Baio played Chachi -- and even got a short-lived spin-off with the character.

Now, the two are both fathers and their kids are competing against each other for student class president. As expected, this brings up their old rivalry, and the two find themselves quickly stoking their own competitive fires again.

"On ‘Ted Plus 10,’ I raised 10 TV kids, while you raised two," Ted said.

"Your next show should be ‘Calf-Biter: The Ted McGinley’ story. Or, wait a minute, how about, ‘Ted McGinley...

Wendell & Vinnie TV Review
If you’re among the many fans who were heartbroken at the news that iCarly was ending, you’re first break from grieving hits Nick at Nite tomorrow at 8/7c (your second comes at a future date when Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande move to the dual spin-off Sam and Cat).

Hitting the absolute center of the blurry line between Nick and Nick at Nite, Wendell & Vinnie is (in some official, technical sense) reportedly an airing of Nick at Nite, celebrated on the homepage of nickatnite.com, but when you click through to the show’s homepage, you find yourself at nick.com/shows/wendell-and-vinnie.
