I'm a Christian, I thought the premise was intriguing. I ignored the negative reviews at my own peril--what a mistake!
Every scene is dripping with nonsense and cringe. There are so many characters with their own pointless story.
It's as if someone took a premise, plugged it into ChatGPT, and had it include things like 'humor', 'action', 'love'.
I would have turned it off but I was watching with my mom. Anyways, the acting sucked, the story sucked, the dialogue sucked, the movie was pointless, and to top it off, every once in a while there's a jarring insertion of 'humor' or something that does not fit. You've been warned.
Bad.

Barring The Emoji Movie, this is the worst thing I've seen in a theater.
Brett Varvel cannot act, always making the same constipated expression regardless of the emotion he's supposed to convey. The directing feels like a sitcom, with repetitive shot reverse shots and the same establishing shots used repeatedly across four bland, suburban sets. Occasionally, when the Christians are evading the evil secular government, we're treated to shadowy shots of forests and fields so dark you can't tell who's who or where they're going. The editing is a mix of mind-numbingly simple sequencing and incoherent transitions, all overseen by the leading actor himself, which at least makes it clear who to laugh at. Even if you believe being an American Christian makes you an oppressed minority, you'll have a hard time taking any of this corny film seriously.

I liked this movie so much more than I was expecting--beautifully shot, likable characters, and lots of surprises! I saw some say that this is an anti-american film and that couldn't be further from the truth. It's a What If scenario of events that are actually happening in other countries right now. People need to wake up and stop thinking "oh that would never happen in America." The film is asking "what would YOU do IF this was happening?" I get it, it makes people uncomfortable but not all Faith based films are "feel good" films, they're about asking hard questions about ourselves. See it before you judge it!
This is a film about hating America. The filmmakers imagine a future that is entirely fictional and unrealistic. Then they frame themselves as saviors who protect Americans by risking their lives to bring the word of 'god' to churches, mostly back east.
I don't know what they are drinking, or smoking, but there is little recognizable in this film- little Christianity, nothing ecumenical, and nothing of any redeeming social value. This is fantasy fodder for 'in-cels.'
Save your money and buy a Bible and read it for yourself. The recent trend for poorly educated people with poor critical thinking skills and dumb-enough-to-believe-anything personalities trying to frame themselves as hero's is ridiculous!

Disciples In The Moonlight (2024) is a cinematic fever dream, a glimpse into a bizarre alternate reality where conservatives' persecution fantasies run wild. It seems the only oppression they can find is in the realm of shoddy fiction, a world where their fervent desire to be silenced and marginalized finally comes true. This film is a testament to that yearning, a desperate cry for victimhood that echoes through a right-wing funhouse mirror in the Twilight Zone.
The plot is as predictable as it is ludicrous, with cardboard cutout characters spouting tired clichés about religious freedom under attack. The acting is uniformly awful, with each performer seemingly vying for the title of "Most Melodramatic Martyr." The cinematography is dull and lifeless, mirroring the film's intellectual vacuity.
Disciples In The Moonlight is not just a bad film; it's a window into a distorted worldview where reality is twisted to fit a pre-determined narrative. It's a film that thrives on fear and resentment, preying on the anxieties of those who feel threatened by a changing world. If you're looking for a thought-provoking and nuanced exploration of faith and freedom, look elsewhere. This film offers nothing but cheap thrills and hollow propaganda.

I love movies that have action and are suspenseful and this movie produced both. The acting was quality and the message was over the top. I have to say if anyone has given this a low rating, it's definitely because they have a problem with "Christian" movies in general. The story line was believable especially in the times we're living in. I highly recommend that everyone sees this movie. Disciples in the moonlight did not disappoint and you will leave the movie like we did, wondering how long we have before this could very well be a reality...Good job cast...Good job producers, you came up with a movie that's original!

This felt like a Christian hater movie. This would NEVER happen nor would real christian people allow this. This was absolutely terrible. A whole world hating the Bible then killing those who wanted to share the real Bible not the one they changed and took out so much information. I will never watch a movie from this director. Fake Christian if they claim they are for GOD. Again terrible movie.at the very end was they ONLY good thing about the movie. Smart and outsmarted the devil . The black guy was one of the good guys that made it. But the killing in this movie had no real grounds . Also was low budget made. It was difficult to keep Interest and the movie glitched a few times.

There's obviously someone being paid or who has a stake in this film giving the rave 10 star reviews because the film is unfortunately worthless... which is putting it nicely. The plot initially sounds interesting but once you actually watch the movie you realize most of the scenes are quite predictable with no real twist or surprises with the exception of the ending The script appears to be written by someone who's very arrogant and conceited. What surprises me most about this film is it's cast of Myles Clohessy and Baylee Toney. Primarily because both engaged in adultery with each other in real life (while Myles was still married to his now ex-wife Jhessica A. And were supposed to believe they're truly trying to ensure the bible lives on? Do they even know what the bible says about committing adultery?

Before anyone thinks I am anti-Christian when they read my review, I can say I am the most devout Christian of the faith. However, filmmakers are not making films that truly celebrate Christianity to the level it deserves. Most of the actors were believable but the story became more and more disinteresting. Most of the world does not hate Christianity. The problem is the hypocrites. Billy Graham was the true example of a faithful Christian but his son Franklin is a hypocrite. Dr. Graham spoke repeatedly about Franklin's struggles to actually practice what he preached but was never a faithful practicing Christian. Unfortunately, there was no point to this movie. A wasted effort.
The premise of bibles becoming illegal is not outside of the realm of possibility. The Bible has been considered illegal contraband in many different places in modern history. The idea that modern technology could be used to up the ante on pursuing those who harbor what some would consider a message of "hate", makes this movie a plausible scenario worthy of contemplation.
The acting was great, the music and scores were truly fantastic and the storyline was obviously a work of passion that holds your attention and challenges you from start to finish. It doesn't feel manipulative or preachy - the story stands on its own.
Thank you for making this movie!

My family and I enjoyed Disciples in the Moonlight! Most Christian movies I have seen make me cringe in parts, due to cheesiness or predictability. Disciples in the Moonlight was action packed, with unexpected twists and turns. The actors were gifted and drew you in to the storyline. I genuinely laughed, and I was moved to tears in several places. When faith was mentioned, it was done in an authentic way and didn't offer shallow platitudes. Well done! Since this movie is not rated, I would recommend it for ages 10+, unless your child is sensitive. In that case, I would recommend it for ages 12+, due to mature/heavy themes. Otherwise, it is completely clean!
I'll try to just summarize by saying two things that I really loved about the movie. No spoilers.
1) It has an unapologetic Biblical theme and message. The message of the movie is not watered down in order to get more people to come. Even if the threat of the Bible becoming illegal never happens in the United States, it challenges the audience as to whether or not we really love the Word of God enough to sacrifice ourselves for it. It challenged me to consider and pray for my brothers and sisters around the world who are currently suffering in similar ways to these characters.
2) It is a genuinely good movie. The characters are well written and have depth to them. The actors brilliantly portray these characters that are flawed human beings fighting not only external enemies but enemies from within. It is a thrilling movie that keeps your interest with just enough humor to let your heart take a break. They even throw in some mysterious lines and details sprinkled throughout the movie that come together like pieces to a puzzle at the very end. All around it was exciting, entertaining and well done.

This movie made me think about the disciples and how they lived life back in there time. It was a real event that really happened! Who knows if times may get that bad. The bottom line is we need to be prepared! The only way is by reading the "Real Word of God" and not not rewritten version that someone made to make us feel better. I hope the reality of this movie kicks in! Although some of the events made you feel on edge, and a little uncomfortable at what happens, it's needed to remind us to keep the faith and never give up! This was great at making it reality in a sense but then also having action and etc. I know some people don't like seeing too much crime or action or whatever, but sometimes it's needed when it addresses reality or what could be reality. I would of actually gave this about a 7 or 8 because it was really great but Mayne could've had more to it. However, I'm giving it 10 to balance the bad reviews that made it look so bad. Man some of you guys need to lighten up and uphold the faith movies. We dont have the budget like major movies so please work with them, support them and understand! WE NEED MORE MOVIES LIKE THIS!!! WE NEED MORE REAL CHRISTIAM MOVIES!!! THANK YOU ALL FOR THIS ONE!! GOD BLESS!!

When faith based movies come out they're usually ridiculed for being too slow or unrealistic or just bad production values. Surprisingly, very many of them are pretty superior to what other movies are playing right now. This is one of those movies.
I found it to be effective and intense at times in a world where hope is pretty much lost. Everything is pretty much sanitized in the future to avoid offending anyone who thinks. Pretty that was the message of this film. Our ability to think for ourselves has been taken from us and the Bible sets the basis for that. There's character development with each central character dealing with their own conflict and it all comes together in a satisfying conclusion.
As I sat there, I thought about my own faith and spirituality. What if someone was to tell me what I can and cannot believe?? Our government has always tried to control what we think. Where would it stop?? So I saw this as not just a faith based movie, but a thought provoking one of regulating freedom.
This is a really good movie for believers but I also think those who like thrillers and action movies will enjoy it too.

Josh Strychalski has written an exceptional film! This movie is well directed, produced, and the cast does not disappoint. This film addresses some uncomfortable topics that could become a reality in our country's future. I was challenged to think about what I would do if the Bible were to become illegal.
This movie tapped into all of my emotions. Lots of intense parts were met with feelings of sadness along with a little bit of humor. Definitely not for young children as there is some heavy content addressed. That saod, my 12 year old loves it and has seen it three times! We catch something new every time we watch it.
Wonderful job portraying such a scary reality that is experienced in many places around the world already. 10 out of 10.

This film really makes you ask yourself the question 'What are you willing to do for Christ'? The Gospel message is well written into the overall story and not tacked on at the end just so it can be labeled a 'faith-based film'. Brett Varvel and his team really believe in presenting the gospel message clearly in all their films and they do that very well in Disciples in the Moonlight. Brett and the entire cast put on Oscar worthy performances. To those that believe all faith-based films have bad acting, poorly written stories, and cheesy production values, this movie will blow you away with how well it was made. This film is an outstanding example of how the quality of faith-based films have greatly improved in the last few years.

This movie was exciting and taut from the first few minutes to the last. Those who have tried to discredit the actors or discourage others from seeing this don't want to consider that this could ever happen. It's happened in other countries so obviously it could happen in the US. The acting was well done and the relationships believable. Watch it to remember how powerful the Word of God is and how precious are the promises of God. This is definitely a movie for viewers that are teens and older. Well done. I encourage ALL Christians to see this film.
Since the film included terms and names of government agencies in use today it added depth and realism to the storyline.

What if the US became like other countries where religion is controlled and the Bible was illegal? What would you do? Disciples in the Moonlight is action packed and will have you on the edge of your seat as you see how seven believers might answer that question. This movie will make you ask yourself "What would I do?".
Well written and directed, Disciples in the Moonlight starts off with an intensity it never loses. The acting is believable and storylines pull you into the characters. A satisfying twist at the end leaves you surprised in a good way.
Churches, Christians, small groups, teen youth...this is a movie that will leave you with a challenging question to answer within yourself.

Underrated gem*In 52 nations right now, in 2024. The Bible is banned. While this movie focuses on this happening in America,
The reality shown is a reflection of what goes on in 52 other nations where people are imprisoned or worse for sharing The Gospel.
As a movie, the acting is unparalleled.
The plot twists and turns,
The characters evolve.
It keeps you on the edge of your seat,
It's an epic movie. Underrated gem.
Without giving the movie away, there is a major betrayal that takes place. Betrayal that is dealt with in a way which nobody would expect.
Without giving the movie away, there is also an epic intelligence plot which some of the participants in the Bible sharing plot don't believe in, they believe that others are out of their mind for believing that the government is acting as some sort of Gastapo.

God is moving through Disciples in the Moonlight! I've had the pleasure of seeing it twice and it was even better the second time! Not your typical feel good Christian movie. This is full of suspense and drama! The ending is OUTSTANDING!!! Brilliantly written! CHILLS! From the creative costumes, the talented actors, producers and directors, down to the perfectly orchestrated music with each scene, you can feel the love that was poured into this film. Thank you for the vision and then bringing it to life on the big screen. The world needs to see this because it couldn't come out at a better time.

We grow up in a society where being a Christian is easy and not very challenging. Would you still have the same faith if your rights to worship God were taken away or the sacred text like the Bible were removed or altered...or if your very life was threatened?
This movie addresses what that might look like in a way that really makes you think. It has been a long time since a movie made my heart pound with suspense and also touch me in such a powerful way! The plot has unexpected twists and was very well written.
My wife and I felt God's anointing on this movie. Don't miss out ... you will want to see this one on the big screen!

Absolutely loved this movie. The dream of the producer and writer was to wake up America and IF people will get out and see it, I believe that will happen. It is in my opinion, impossible to watch and not be changed. Regardless of your beliefs, to think that this is a distinct possibility of happening in America is a horror beyond all imagination, but, this film does the job. This could actually become a reality if the elite on this world and our great country continue to strip our GOD given rights and erode our Constitution. It is time America to Wake Up and Stand up! If we don't we just may be facing a scenario as displayed in this movie! We do not want that to happen!!'
