I have to give Kudos to anyone that aspires to make films and then does it. I have always been a huge fan of film/ cinema. I would like to make a movie one day. However, I respect taking some creative license when writing a movie but I don't appreciate taking a real person or event and creating something fictional. It's misleading and confusing. Just create your own characters and build a story around them. In this Gacy movie, the story focused on young man who was Gacy's neighbor. I have watched many docs on Gacy and there has never been any mention of a young man snooping around his home and parents getting involved.
Very bad acting. Feels like a play at times or just a lifetime movie. Iit's available on tubi so I'm not surprised but the picture quality is actually pretty good. It is the only reason I could even give it 3 stars. Someone needs to make a movie about Mr. Gacy that's good it is an interesting story. The documentaries are way better this story is a real story and should be portrayed better. Think it falls by the waist side when is compared to the Jeffery Dahmer incident and docu-series. Hopefully one day we will get a real adaptation of John gacy real life and why he turned out the way he did. I kno it's not about his upbringing just the boy next door vision but it could have been better just my opinion .

I know alot about Gacy and wanted to watch to see what Hollywood would do. There was 2 other movies done about him, but this one is more about the neighbors, so it makes if a fictional story. They got Gacy right as he was a serial killer, but his neighbors didn't suspect him of anything. So watching this, I am like the kid, Bobby, his parents are very old to be playing parents of a teenager. His mom, geez, couldn't stop looking at her oversized clownish lips. The father, another older actor. Gacy lived in a ranch style home, not a 2 story tudor style home. They really didn't show Gacy as he really was. Most of his victims were teenagers or young men he promised jobs to. This movie shows him just picking up male prostitutes. Also, Gacy had an accompliace which would bring people to him. So while this was a different spin, it still was awful.
So I'm going to be brutally honest. Sitting here on a Sunday afternoon and looking for something interesting to watch I came across this movie but I can't even really call it a movie, I would refer to it as agonizing torture that was probably worse than what Gacey's victims went through. I've seen better acting at my 6-year-old nephews performance during his grammar school play. Of the 1:38:02 the "movie" lasted I probably watched a little over half as I had to keep fast forwarding because I thought I was going to have a stroke. What happened to Gacey's mom. We saw her when he walked her into the new house and that was it. When the dad went looking for the son it was dark outside but when they came out the front door it was daylight. The best part of it was seeing the Buick Riviera because I had a '64 in high school. Did anybody watch this before they released it to the public because the continuity is ridiculous. I have much more but I'm tired now and I have to go but if this is what the people who were involved in the production of this movie was aiming for then they hit it right on the mark and Siskel and Ebert would give it two thumbs down.
A fictionalized film about a teenage boy who lives next door to serial killer John Wayne Gacy and becomes suspicious of him.
Seriously, that's it. It's not like he befriends him for a while and then becomes suspicious. It happens in the first 20 minutes. The movie has no where to go. His attempts to convince his friends and family are shot down throughout the film. It's both boring and infuriating.
The acting is amateurish all around. The dialogue is awful. The actor playing Gacy is unconvincing and even more so when he decides to take on the persona of The Joker, complete with an over the top maniacal laugh. Make it to the it end and you'll also get to experience the tonally bizarre Chariots of Fire moment.
If you really need to see a film about John Wayne Gacy, please pass on this and watch one of the already too many films / documentaries that exist.
Rifftrax take notice. This can be your next film.

I HAVE NO IDEA HOW NOBODY SO FAR HAS MADE A HORRIBLE REVIEW ABOUT THE HORRIBLE PRODUCTION OF THE MOVIE......NOTE THAT THIS MOVIE TAKES PLACE IN CHICAGO... I'M FROM CHICAGO!!! THEY SAY THEY ARE IN CHICAGO BUT WHEN GACY TRIED HITTING BOBBY AND THE GIRLS THEY ARE CLEARY IN CALIFORNIA, THOSE HILLS ARE NOT FOUND AT ALL IN CHICAGO OR ANY PART OF ILLINOIS IT WAS CLEARY CALIFORNIA. ALSO AT THE END OF THE MOVIE YOU CAN SEE A PALM TREE ABOVE GACEYS HOUSE.... THERE ARE NO PALM TREES IN CHICAGO!!!! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE ACTING TOO!!! THE ONLY GOOD ACTOR WAS THE GUY WHO PLAYED GACEY. AND DID ANYBODY ELSE NOTICE TOWARDS THE END OF THE MOVIE HOWARD'S (bobbys dad) MIC FREAKING MUFFLES AND ALMOST CUT OUT. WORST MOVIE OF ALL TIME AND THE WORST ACTING OF ALL TIME THESE PEOPLE STINK!!!!

If the God awful acting doesn't make you turn this off in the first 15 minutes, you have a much more optimism inside you than I do. Wow!
This movie was suggested to me on Amazon Prime, not surprisingly, as I'm a big true crime movie buff. Having said that, I figured I'd give this a whirl knowing good & well that it was going to be low budget, but still hoping it would be worth my time. Oh boy, I was so wrong!
The acting is cheesier than any lifetime movie you've ever seen, I promise you that. There's a fight scene in the first five minutes in which the sound effects used for punches literally made me laugh out loud, so I guess above all else, I got a laugh worth $4.99 out of this movie. Fifteen minutes in I was done and accepted my loss to Amazon's marketing strategy.
Amazon: 1 Me: 0.

The 10s and 9s are obviously submitted by the people associated with this debacle. Do not give this "movie" any of your time. You will hate yourself afterwards. Whose idea was it to cast a Meatloaf look alike with out the talent to play Gacy. The acting is reminiscent of a 6th grade play. I often wonder how projects like this get funded. The world would be much better off if the money to make the film was donated to a worthy cause. The "actors" do not need to be encouraged. They will all be much better off with careers in other fields. I blame this movie on the everyone gets a trophy generation. Just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should.

This is touted as being the true story of the life and crimes of serial killer John Wayne Gacy.
It's not.
Basically nothing in this movie EVER happened, some of the names are the same, but that's IT. Total fabrication on every level. The blurb at the end telling you what happened to Gacy, makes out as though the events in this film happened as they are portrayed - that's utter nonsense.
This story has been done better, many times before.
The acting is school play quality - total garbage. The kids who play the friends of Bobby are just abysmal, I've seen better acting at a primary school play.
The principal actors are bad, the script is atrocious.
The actress playing the Mother can barely move her lips and looks like a store mannequin, couldn't take my eyes off the awful plastic surgery. It's the ONLY gripping thing about this pile of junk, seriously hypnotic. She looked more like a clown than Gacy did in full clown makeup.
The slow motion sequence at the end is laugh-out-loud pathetic and cringeworthy.
Seriously, everyone involved in this pile of junk needs to hang their head in shame. Watched it out of morbid curiosity to see how bad it would get - trust me, it gets very bad.
FAKE story, waste of time, BAD BAD BAD.
I have since found out that the "actress" who plays the Mother is married to the director and writer of the film. What a surprise she was cast in the role (NOT).

Renown director, writer, and producer Michael Feifer hits another home run with this thriller which offers some different twists on the criminal story of the creepy John Wayne Gacy. The cinematography is excellent as are the stunts and overall presentation. The Gacy story has been told more than a few times but Gacy: Serial Killer Next Door is an engaging and fresh take on a historical series of newsworthy events. The acting is top notch which enhances the storyline even more. I was particularly impressed with actor Mason McNulty in the role of Bobby and with actor Mike Korich who played the sinister Gacy character. The rest of the cast was equally impressive. This is an independent film that has the look and feel of a much more costly motion picture. Michael Feifer does not disappoint!
I thought this film was very ambitious and solid considering the budget they had to work with. The period piece aspect of it played well. It had that real 70'shorror feel on the production side, in the same vein as Halloween, Friday The 13th, etc. On the story side, the tension grew from the beginning as the innocent kid next door seemed to be the only one who sensed the danger coming from Gacy, which is probably somewhat accurate of the real story. I thought Mason McNulty handled that lead kid next door very well, balancing the innocent kid being told what to do, with sensing a serious issue no one else seemed to recognize.
The story is bad. The characters are bad. The acting is bad. Worse than a train wreck that you can't look away from. DO NOT waste your time on this movie unless you truly enjoy psychological torturing yourself. JWG's character is beyond annoying, and the kid's mama? Who can stop looking at those weird lips???? It's humorous that the actors at least tried to be serious. If you're tempted, throw your remote. Stay away. Far, far away. At least Baby Oopsie knew it was ridiculous and tried to be funny. This movie doesn't even qualify for a bad movie really...it's worse than that. Awful. Truly, truly awful.

I think that being tortured by Gacy himself would have been less traumatic than watching this. The acting was absolutely diabolical & the characters they played were infuriating. What did poor Bobby do to deserve such dim witted parents? As for the storyline, none of it made any sense. One minute dim dad is gonna blow Gacy's brains out (rather than bother the police) then all of a sudden, because Gacy appreciated his nice bottle of red, all was forgiven haha. Then there was the police officer kindly letting dim dad know that there was indeed a murderous lunatic in the neighbourhood and advising him to stay in until dawn instead of, you know, actually getting off his lazy butt to go arrest the guy. Then there was Bobby & Gacy deaf to dim dad bellowing his son's name over and over, yet dim dad could hear the soft music coming from the room they were in. It's not even like dim dad had good hearing-he didn't hear a thing when his kid is getting dragged out of the bathroom right next door to his bedroom! What kind of parents would go to bed leaving their poor kid unaccompanied in those circumstances anyway? I actually really hated dim dad and wanted to give his stepford wife a bloody good shake too. It should have been those two wearing the clown outfits I swear! Lastly (I mean I could go on & on but don't wanna bore yous anymore) food delivery in the seventies? Really?
Only 22:40mim in and I have to stop it. This is HORRIBLE! The acting is so bad and I can't with the Gacy Character or the mom ... actually I can't with any of them. Horrible!! Doesn't even seem low budget but the acting is bad and the way the mom opens door to the suns room looks like he lives in a closet.
Also, people back then didn't have that much plastic surgery as the mom 2nd why does the kid suspect him already within 2 min of movie And 3rd why is he already at his house peeling around.
These parents are too old for this son of theirs and I can't stand the actor gacys smile and eyes. Annoying.

And this folks is what is wrong with Hollywood. Let me give you the rundown so you don't suffer. Most know the story behind gacy so no need for me to run that down. But wow...how on earth did they get funding for this? How did the backers, see the script, see the actors lined up and say, oh yea this looks like a money maker. Let's talk about the sets, whoever did the sets/scene tried to make it look like that era from their own imagination, even the car rentals are off, the clothing is off, hair style is off...even the spoken language and tone used for this script is off. Cinematography is awful, angles lighting, cuts very amateurish. Now the actors. Someone needs to take away the Botox to start with. And makeup, yea whoever thought they were a great makeup artist hasn't a clue. This seems like another example of someone hiring cast from friends and family thinking they can act and try to save money. You do see better acting in high school plays. It is just painful to watch.

For starters , I actually managed to sit through the entirety of this film somehow. This film was more of a comedy than an actual horror movie. Did any catch the young boys mothers' lipstick ? She had lipstick like a clown. I couldn't stop looking at it. Just horrendous acting in the entirety of the movie. I don't know who financed this total mess, but it was just a poor attempt at something . I don't know what it was, but yeah , you can skip this. "Why does your house smell so funny" I couldn't stop cracking up after that line in the movie. Pogo wants to play Pogo wants to play !! Lord...please erase this movie from my brain !

I watched this movie with my father; I personally knew the story of Gacy very well and was excited to see it told in a movie form. This is not a John Wayne Gacy movie. This is a movie where they had written the movie and then thought "wow this is so bad we better stick a name on it so people will actually watch it." The story is completely false; nothing in it is even remotely true. If you want to witness the worst dialogue of your life, the worst acting, and the worst story telling go ahead. There are so many random jump cuts that clearly cut out vital information for the story. The movie is more comedic than anything with how poorly it is executed.
I pray that you read this before you pay to watch this movie. It is just the worst.
It has nothing to do with the actual story of John Wayne Gacy and the acting is terrible.
The main character, Bobby is so annoying and his parents are even worse.
This was a painful watch. I envy my girlfriend, who fell asleep in the very beginning. She had the right idea.
I know one star out of ten is a harsh rating but this one truly deserved it.
No wonder this movie is free on so many platforms. My heart goes out to those who paid to view this absolute abortion.
If I had a time machine and I could only use it once, I would go back to two hours ago so I could pick a different movie to watch, tonight.

Very good take on this story of a crazed clown. Stiry telling from a different perspective. Mason McNulty shows a desperate teenager can do alot to help people. The uneasy feeling that is portrayed only enhances the experience. Trying to show that there is more than meets the eye to the so called friendly neighbor and his sinister live.the whole cast brings together a story that puts you at the edge of your seat .The moody soundtrack creates a moody background for this thriller. The cast, set and wardrobe make you feel like its the 70s . The entire cast bring the emotions and atmosphere of the times to life. Very entertaining gripping movie.

This film had some great aspects to it including the acting by the actors who played Gacy and the father & son that lived across the street. Unfortunately, there were several other actors in the film that either had an average performance or were so poor that they actually took you out of the film. I think if the acting in those places have been better it would have increased the overall appeal of the film dramatically. This is a fictional story based on Gacy, but that's all right because that's what film is for... the creators can do whatever they want. It is definitely worth a watch in my opinion, maybe when you're doing something else at the same time like having dinner if you don't wanna fully commit.
