Makes Hallmark Mysteries Look Oscar Worthy

My wife and I watch a mystery every night. It's something we've been doing for years, which means that I always have to be on the lookout for new material. This seemed to fit the bill nicely: a retired criminology professor turned Podcaster solves mysteries as a sideline, much to the disgust of her police detective daughter. Yes, it's a well worn plot device but with a few good actors they can usually manage to pull it off, or at least make it bearable. Not this time. Stereotypical meddlesome mama, amazingly obnoxious daughter with the hapless partner caught in the middle. The acting is terrible , so bad it makes you want to root for the bad guys. The last time I watched something this bad it was a Hallmark mystery, and I deleted all of them. This makes me want to bring them back just to improve the quality of our TV time.

Irritating characters and irritating plot

The theme is that a male and female cop duo are assigned to find the murderer. The female cop is direct and rude, he is bland. Their interviewing style with suspects seems guaranteed to make them clam up. The female cop's Mother is Gabby by name and gabby by nature, as well as being supremely self-opinionated. She interferes a lot and much of the police investigation is reviewed by her, justified by her academic background apparently. She is supremely needy emotionally and this gets in the way, but no-one seems to mind. She tries to generate a romantic interest between her daughter and the male cop. There are a lot of plot holes. Either you will find the mother a larger than life lovable rogue or seriously annoying and meddlesome.

I liked it

It wasn't as bad as the other three reviews stated I liked it it was a stereotypical murder mystery someone gets murdered somebody to solve it everyone is entitled to their own opinion but because of this I guess that's why we're stuck watching Mama June Naked and Afraid Survivor Big Brother and like programs. It's not bloody or gory so everyone in the house could watch it so if you're into blood and gore this is not the program for you if you like light entertainment then it's for you I hope they make many many more episodes of this program there's not much on TV anymore unless you're into staring into other people's lives I like a lighthearted comedy or mystery or after a hard day you can just kick back and watch it and be mindless.

So bad it makes for laughs

The female cop is a horrible character who acts rude and childish. Painful to watch. The male cop is the nice guy and set up to be the eye candy. The female cop's mother is over the top, annoying and just so happens to be best buddies with the police chief. The mum also knows every victim/suspect. The showmaking blunders are laughable - suspects holding phones upside down, "working" on computers that are obviously not even on, whole conversation in the car where the driver doesn't look at any mirror once or even move the steering wheel. I gave it a three as even though all three episodes were bad, me and the husband played a game where we got "points" for spotting a blunder. Hence the laughs.
